This is a very special property which I have been visiting for over 50 years. Its location in the "rocks district" of Sydney gives access to some wonderful cafes, pubs and shops...but the main attraction is its amazing view of the Sydney Opera House. It also has a pool on the roof, although not ideal in the winter. Easy access (5 minutes) to Circular Quay, with the boats and trams to travel around the city.

The breakfast buffet was not impressive nor good value for money, but there are several excellent cafes just a few minutes' walk away on George Street. I recommend the Rocks Cafe for the quality, price and service.

Excellent location for getting to the Overseas Passenger terminal for cruising. The train is easy to catch straight from the airport to circular quay and from that station it’s a very short walk to the Hotel. Then it’s only a few minutes across the road to the Passenger Terminal to board the ship. No waiting for taxis or the cost of them, and no traffic to get through! The Rocks area is fabulous, and It’s in a great location for walking around the Rocks area with a lot of little pubs cafes and restaurants, pop up theatres weekend markets and so on or to the Opera house or the Sydney harbour bridge and Ferries , it’s close to the hop on hop off bus stop, and the Sydney busses, as well as the Ferries, water taxis etc. The room was clean and comfortable the beds and pillows comfortable and the buffet breakfast was also excellent. You have a control in the room to adjust the air conditioner to your preference. There is a rooftop pool to use with great views of the city. And Sydney harbour .. you can see the iconic Sydney harbour bridge and the opera house from here. The location and convenience really is everything!

Just a minor thing to be aware of … it’s an old Hotel, and The shower is over the bath which can be a bit tricky to get in and out of, especially for the elderly or people with disabilities. .. ( and in the two rooms we stayed in before and after our cruise the gloss was worn off the bath! )

The room was a good size with a nice view of the harbour. We didnt buy the breakfast but it was good value. The foyer had an open fire and plenty of comfortable chairs. The hotel is a perfect location to attend Vivid, the Rocks, MCA or an event at the Opera House and easily connected to the rest of the city by public transport. The rooftop pool is cold, but the spa is great and the view from the rooftop seating area is amazing.

I had requested a high floor and was told on check in "The highest room we have today is level 5". Disappointing when I had put in the request 3 months earlier, not thinking it would only be done on check in. We used the spa but then noticed signs on the way saying it wasnt working? Clearer dated signage would have helped there.

We’ve stayed here before and keep coming back for good reason — the location is unbeatable, right in The Rocks. • The rooftop pool is a real highlight. It’s the perfect spot for soaking up the sun and taking in incredible views of the Harbour and Sydney Harbour Bridge. • During Vivid Sydney, the rooftop is a brilliant place to watch the lights without the crowds. • The rooms, while older, are very comfortable and have everything you need for a relaxing stay.

The rooms are definitely showing their age and could benefit from a refresh to match the standard of the location and facilities.

Location short stroll to the overseas cruise terminal which is ideal. we also got to check in early which was great. friendly helpful staff . Comfortable bed. Will stay again but will check room type is as per photos on listing when booking.

Rate was good but room was much more budget and not like rooms displayed on booking.Com. i would have preferred the listing to show true photos of the room as i would have selected a higher rate for a better room as shower over bath option not ideal for someone with knee injury Bathroom vent very dirty needs a vaccum as is clogged with dust

Location, location , location. The view from the roof top area was perfect when there was not a cruise liner docked. The breakfast was included in our room rate so made use of it. It was a basic buffet, clean and fresh food. Not a huge selection but substantial for the price that we paid for our stay. The pool photos give a false idea, pool is not heated and the spa was not working. But if your like me and don’t mind a cold pool it’s perfect to cool off and take in the views. Don’t book this hotel if the pool is the reason alone, as it needs to be upgraded. The staff were very friendly. The room is small for four adults however if it’s a short stay it doesn’t really matter.

I already knew the bathroom was old and needed upgrading from reviews I had read prior to booking but I overlooked it as the location is perfect. The shower is in a small bathtub that is in desperate need of reglazing. Again if it’s a short stay it doesn’t really matter as the location is fab. The television didn’t work well as the sensor on the tv did not register the remote signal. We did get someone to come and try to fix it but it is an old remote and tv so that was how it functioned. So didn’t use the Tv at all for our stay. The carpet in the room is slightly damp so keep your shoes or flip flops on.

I have reviewed on our last May visit and I was pleasantly surprised to see your lobby bar opened with food menu. The lobby had lots of people sitting around enjoying their drinks & food BUT still no service on Sunday or Monday. The lobby then was dead. A hotel with that location should offer its guests 7 days bar & food. Did notice dinner now 3 evenings so that's an improvement. The TV is still an awful choice. Did really enjoy our room 403 with alittle harbour view and people walking around. Thats was great. We have stayed in your hotel since it was a Holiday Inn , so I notice the changes but more needs to be done to please everyone.!!! Thank you. G. Robinson Sandra Robinson wrote this review.

Location and ambience are why I stay here on every trip to Sydney.

The new owners expect an additional fee of $60 or $80 to have a room assigned before check-in at 2pm. The poor staff were very polite and confirmed there were rooms immediately available but at the extra fee. I always find this type of policy dissappointing. Fair enough if a room had to be especially prepared but we arrived on a Friday, and Thursday aren't peak period. I would otherwise have given the hotel my routine 10 out of 10 ...despite the bath being old and quite stained :-)

The views and proximity to Sydney Harbour were amazing!! The staff were very friendly, accomodating and willing to help. We arrived from a cruise earlier that morning and were hoping to store our bags before our check in time. The desk staff were very helpful and willing to help with this. We were also able to check in earlier than our check in time which we were very grateful and appreciative of. Thank you.

There was not enough cutlery- we only found a teaspoon. We bought disposable cutlery so we could have breakfast in the room.
