Staff were excellent to deal with and very helpful and friendly throughout my visit. They gave us a list of restaurants to go to which was great as we didn't know where to go to eat especially at the 1 week of January a lot and this clashes with Church Holidays. The page gave us street locations which is friendly for google.

Location is super but unfortunately a lot of construction work underway on the ramblas i had no notification of this ongoing work and its seems to take up huge area of works under at one time. A very pedestrianized route very surprised with some of the temporary footpath being provided for tourists. I would have thought google would have updated the map to allow tourist to avoid walking on areas of the Ramblas which was most effected by construction and select an alternative route for walking etc

The hotel was cozy and luxurious. Room was super clean. Bed was enormously big and comfy. Despite its proximity to the Ramblas Blv, busy street room was very quiet. It seemed like they were out of yheir way to make our stay pleasant. The night before we left they even left us a bowl with choclates, fruits and a thank you note. Best value for money!!!!

The staff were exceptional communicators and well-informed of activities on offer and the logistics associated with them. Their customer service went above and beyond any others I have had interaction with. They even packed my breakfast for me because I had to leave early. That was very nice of them. The free water was a huge help for my day trips. The lounges in reception were very comfortable and inviting. I have already begun recommending Hotel 1898 to all my friends and associates. My husband and I are planning to return to Barcelona, and I have elected Hotel 1898 for the accommodation.

There was nothing that I didn't like - except if the bath had a plug so I could relax from all the walking. The TV could have been working better and offer Netflix.

The location was perfect for our 5 day visit to Barcelona, we could walk almost everywhere (except Sagrada Familia) Lovely hotel, extremely comfortable room & bed was amazing. Great breakfast. Friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommend this hotel. Many great bars and restaurants within easy walking distance. Would. definitely stay here again

Didn't really realise there was so many other activities, such as half an hour per day free in the Sap. None of that was explained to us on arrival. We definitely would have gone to the Spa and done things such as the wine tasting. Staff at breakfast very busy and hard to catch someone to order.

I stayed at Hotel 1898 in Barcelona and I couldn’t be more satisfied with my experience. Everything was perfect, from the warm welcome from the staff to the impeccable cleanliness of the room. The location is ideal, close to many attractions. The breakfast was simply delicious, offering a wonderful variety of sweet and savory options, perfect for starting the day off right. I particularly enjoyed the fresh and local selections. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking to have a memorable stay in Barcelona

The only minor drawback was the ongoing construction, which made access to the hotel a bit difficult. However, I understand that this is temporary and it doesn’t overshadow the overall pleasant experience.

The greatest plus of this hotel is the location. The Rambla is right on the side of the hotel you are located within walking distance to almost all major attractions. The hotel's design is classy, like a cigar club, and it is very elegant. The breakfast is good, with Spanish specialties, and in the afternoon, you can find coffee and tea in the lobby. There is an outdoor pool in the rooftop with a bar and an indoor pool in the spa with access to a sauna and steam bath. The only disadvantage is that you can only use these facilities for 30 min which in my opinion is too little to relax. Additionally, my wife was celebrating her birthday and the hotel kindly provided her with a bottle of wine and cake to celebrate. We really enjoyed our stay here and I can recommend this place.

The rooms are relatively bad isolated, although we were not close to the street, we were in the rooms in the middle, the door let every sound from the alley go in, and we heard all the neighbor sounds and water pipes. Therefore if you are a light sleep person like me, bring some earplugs.

Spacious and comfortable rooms, with decent bathrooms. The communal space in the lobby was very comfortable, lots of places to lounge, relax and hang, especially at afternoon tea time.

Just comparing it to other places we stayed on our trip in Spain, this hotel was larger and therefore the service was a bit less personal than elsewhere - but friendly nonetheless. It's a small complaint and not really their fault as they were dealing with a lot of enquiries. The location is very central but the area can feel a little seedy at certain times if the day.

This is the best hotel we’ve ever stayed in Europe. The roofdeck…. OMG. Breathtaking views all around, it’s crazy!!!!! Can’t believe also that there’s an indoor hot pool available for guests daily, at no additional charge. It’s not just a hot pool, but with water jets that give massages. The staff were all friendly ….. with authenticity :) We had to ask if the place was newly renovated as it is super duper clean. Apparently, it’s just very well maintained. The interior is classy. The breakfast was superb. Although the buffet menu is almost the same each day, just choose to put on your plate different things each day- they’re all delicious anyway!!! They would even serve something special and unique each time, so watch out for it. It’s truly value for money. There are also free refreshments for guests in the afternoon ( though we were not able to take advantage of it as we’d be out exploring Barcelona). We are right at La Rambla street so not much transpo costs. We pretty much walked everywhere ….churches, the market, watching flamenco, shopping, the plazas, restaurants, etc. From the bottom of my heart, I truly recommend this to anyone visiting Barcelona. By the way, this place is historic. It used to be the headquarters of Tabacalera Filipinas. Go ask the receptionist about the history, and they may even give you a free coffee table book if you’d like to have all those professionally taken Philippine-scene black and white photos.

We had an absolutely amazing time at hotel 1898 The rooms were spacious and spotless, with great décor and crisp bed sheets. The breakfast buffet was delicious, with a huge variety of options! The staff were very attentive and especially Victor went out of the way to ensure that we were comfortable.Nothing was too much trouble.The Spa was very nice, 30 min a day for free for hotel guests, I had a massage with Fabricio, it was super, he has magical hands. We also appreciated the bottle of champagne on the last day! Thank you 😘We definitely recommend this hotel and will go back in the future .

Hotel 1898 exceeded all expectations - perfectly located half way La Rambla, it offered easy access both to the Gothic quarter, the local squares, restaurants and other places of interest. Inside, the colonial feel/ambience to the whole hotel was just to our taste - dark wood, elegant wallpaper, plush carpets and big furniture. Our room was superb - super king size bed, lovely bathroom, and the luxury of a small balcony as well. Breakfast was fantastic - well laid out and plentiful with a choice of continental or cooked, fruit, cakes, breads & pastries with a section dedicated to Catalan delicacies as well! Lunch on the roof terrace was also spectacular! And the roof terrace - just amazing! Well stocked bar, comfy easy chairs and beds all around, loungers and of course the roof-top pool! Staff wise - faultless, polite, professional and efficient

Dinner in the roof restaurant one night was unfortunately really poor - over-seasoned, cold and missing ingredients. We knew the food was good because we'd had the same thing on a previous day. So possibly a different chef that night.. However, staff were professional and polite about it all and managed us very well when we fed back to them. I do feel this is a very isolated (and unusual incident however - previous meals we had had were excellent!). One piece of constructive feedback would be to maybe have different menus between lunch and dinner, rather than the same options for both.
