Staff were excellent to deal with and very helpful and friendly throughout my visit. They gave us a list of restaurants to go to which was great as we didn't know where to go to eat especially at the 1 week of January a lot and this clashes with Church Holidays. The page gave us street locations which is friendly for google.

Location is super but unfortunately a lot of construction work underway on the ramblas i had no notification of this ongoing work and its seems to take up huge area of works under at one time. A very pedestrianized route very surprised with some of the temporary footpath being provided for tourists. I would have thought google would have updated the map to allow tourist to avoid walking on areas of the Ramblas which was most effected by construction and select an alternative route for walking etc

The hotel was cozy and luxurious. Room was super clean. Bed was enormously big and comfy. Despite its proximity to the Ramblas Blv, busy street room was very quiet. It seemed like they were out of yheir way to make our stay pleasant. The night before we left they even left us a bowl with choclates, fruits and a thank you note. Best value for money!!!!

Great location, beautiful hotel, lovely room. Most. Comfortable. Hotel. Bed. Ever. Breakfast buffet was quite good. Evening music in the lobby and small guest events (to sign up for) like cocktail making and wine tastings were a lovely plus. Joaquin did an incredible job with our cocktail class (photo). A very minor thing: the bathroom (which had a lovely tub) did not come with a plug for the tub; you have to ask guest services for that. That being said, I do realize and understand that the absence of a plug is probably a conscientious conservation measure. Also no full length mirror in which to “check your ‘fit”. :)

The hotel was wonderful and had an awesome rooftop cocktail area and a pool. The room was perfect, it had everything we needed. The lobby was gorgeous and a good place to hang out to have a coffee. Everything I needed was steps away and a very awesome shopping area across the street that went on for miles it seemed. The spa was great and I booked a massage that went very well. This smaller hotel has everything you need.

If you like a bustling area this is your place. It does have some bad elements a few blocks away, but we did not have any problems nor did we see any. The restaurants in the area were good but not great, at least the ones we experienced.

Fantastic Hotel in a perfect location on La Rambla. From the second you walk in the door you know you have made the right choice. The atmosphere is relaxed and the decor is well thought out and lovingly maintained. The staff are all excellent and nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are spacious and the beds very comfortable. We particularly liked how quiet the room is, the sound proofing is excellent, we actually liked keeping the doors open to hear the bustling street below. The roof top terrace gives an amazing 360 view of Barcelona, there’s plenty of seating with lots of different options. You can book a free daily 30 min session in the spa and wellness centre, the pool, steam room and sauna are of the highest standard. If you want a quality Hotel where you instantly feel welcome with excellent facilities then this is the place for you. The location is perfect around 3/4 of the way up La Rambla. Cannot recommend highly enough and we will be back!

Gorgeous property - the rooftop lounge area was a perfect place to relax and have a drink. Staff was very accommodating. The bonus was the use of the spa (pool, sauna, steam room) after a busy day. Just logged back in to revise this review - I forgot to mention - the breakfast was SUPERB. Best hotel breakfast I've ever seen - countless options, quality food.

No fault of the hotel - but there is major construction which restricts access to the hotel. Our driver ended up driving over sidewalks and through alleys to get us 'near' the property. I would have like a warning about that. And when we departed the staff advised we could get a taxi right out front - but none of the drivers would take us to the airport - and they all said - walk over to the next corner for a taxi, and we ended up walking many blocks to find a driver willing to take us to the airport. I feel the hotel must know this, and should have offered advice that you really need to CALL a car to the hotel for airport trips.

A very comfortable, established hotel in a superb location (despite the noise and disruption of current building works on La Rambla). We didn't check out the spa but the rooftop pool and terrace were a pleasure: relaxed atmosphere, decent music, great food and drinks, a combination of seating and lounging areas, overseen by genuinely warm and hospitable staff. There was none of the snootiness you sometimes encounter in hotels of this standard. We only had breakfast one day but it was excellent. Bedrooms were serviced promptly and meticulously by efficient and very friendly staff. I've tended to stay in smaller, more boutiquey-style places in Barcelona but Hotel 1898 has really challenged my view that smaller is better.

No complaints. The exterior building work on La Rambla was a minor inconvenience but the hotel had warned us of this in advance and did everything they could to suggest different spots to catch taxis etc.

Very large room with ample storage and extremely comfortable bedding. Lighting was adjustable throughout room and air conditioning was excellent. Beautiful hotel overall with convenient location to Bari Gothic, El Born, trains, etc. Staff were helpful in prodifing directions, restaurant recommendations, and reservations. Bathroom was modern and sparkling clean with good water pressure. On our last night we returned after being out all day to an ice bucket with a chilled bottle of cava which was a nice touch. Hotel 1898 has a cute roof pool but we didn't have time to use it. The hotel is just off Las Ramlas but you really don't hear the noise, so although this hotel is in the thick of it, you don't notice until you round the corner onto the main thoroughfare. The hotel ADDRESS is on Las Ramblas but the ENTRANCE is off a side street which is much quiter! Overall this was an excellent hotel choice for Barcelona!

The beautiful lobby had an overwhelming perfume smell every day, no matter the time. It hits you like an immense wave when you walk in the door. Same strong scent for all four days we stayed. Rooftop staff were not as friendly as the lobby staff. As a quick note, Las Ramblas is undergoing street repaving so there is a lot of construction all down that street, but the good news is you can't hear any of that in your room.

The staff were exceptional communicators and well-informed of activities on offer and the logistics associated with them. Their customer service went above and beyond any others I have had interaction with. They even packed my breakfast for me because I had to leave early. That was very nice of them. The free water was a huge help for my day trips. The lounges in reception were very comfortable and inviting. I have already begun recommending Hotel 1898 to all my friends and associates. My husband and I are planning to return to Barcelona, and I have elected Hotel 1898 for the accommodation.

There was nothing that I didn't like - except if the bath had a plug so I could relax from all the walking. The TV could have been working better and offer Netflix.

I stayed at Hotel 1898 in Barcelona and I couldn’t be more satisfied with my experience. Everything was perfect, from the warm welcome from the staff to the impeccable cleanliness of the room. The location is ideal, close to many attractions. The breakfast was simply delicious, offering a wonderful variety of sweet and savory options, perfect for starting the day off right. I particularly enjoyed the fresh and local selections. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking to have a memorable stay in Barcelona

The only minor drawback was the ongoing construction, which made access to the hotel a bit difficult. However, I understand that this is temporary and it doesn’t overshadow the overall pleasant experience.
