Excellent hotel. The owners could not do enough for us and made sure our stay was excellent. Beautiful hotel setting with a lovely garden and really nicely furnished rooms. We stayed two nights and had a great night's sleep both nights. Very comfortable beds. Ample street parking for free nearby if you could not get one of the spaces outside the hotel. Breakfast was amazing! A short walk into Chinon Town over the bridge. Hotel was ideally placed. If in the area again, it would be our first choice of hotel. Absolutely beautiful hotel, we really enjoyed staying there

This little hotel was fabulous! We stayed in “Utopia” and had an enormous room, lovely bathroom & shower, and even a tub in the middle of the bedroom. Bed was so comfortable, and there were several skylights to brighten the room during the day. The breakfast was wonderful with lots of homemade items like their yogurt and banana bread, but the baguette & croissant were also fresh & delicious.

We would like to have had better service for drinks & appetizers in the evening. The menu said service would be till 7 or 8 pm, but we felt that our hosts were too busy to serve us more than one glass of wine. We weren’t able to order any appetizers. Other than that, we liked everything.

Beautiful charming family run hotel .We went for the option of the continental breakfast at an additional cost which was really exceptional.There was a great choice of breads cheese and homemade jams .Outside area to relax and enjoy quiet time very nice .Bedrooms are tastifully decorated and garage parking for bicycle available which was fantastic. Rudy was so welcoming and our stay was short but very enjoyable. Definitely worth a visit.

There is no air conditioning in the bedrooms but a fan is available .Thankfully it was not a problem for us .

The superfriendly and informative owners, Rudy and Matieu. The location near to the local riverside bar from where you can see spectacular views of the fortress. The fresh and renovated decor. The garden looked lovely.. we were lucky to find parking right outside but the owner will be shortly opening a parking over the road! Oh and the fabulous breakfast!!!

We didnt have a problem but I think parking will be an issue until the new parking is open. Remember to make a restaurant reservation in advance. Chinon is very popular!

Lovely residence, just ever so slightly off the beaten track which was perfect for us. A short walk across the bridge into the centre of town, whilst taking in the wonderful views. Was quiet, with excellent secluded gardens where it was a pleasure to relax and enjoy their lovely wines.

Silly thing, but lack of hooks or towel rails in our room made it awkward getting used bath towels dry - they did not replace daily, which is not a problem if you have somewhere to hang them to dry before they are needed again.

The Rive Sud is a beautiful family-run bed & breakfast in walking distance to the charming little town of Chinon. It is located near the bike route "la Loire à Vélo". All rooms are clean and tastefully decorated. We could leave our bicycles in safe shelter on the premises. Breakfast is lovely with homemade yogurt, fresh bread and viennoiseries. Rudy and Mathieu are very nice and happy to help finding a good restaurant nearby. They did everything to make our stay an unforgettable experience - thank you so much for your hospitality!

I liked my room, although there is no lift in the hotel. Breakfast was very good quality fare (bio products etc) but not an extensive choice. Eating in the conservatory or patio garden was very pleasant although there is not a view of the river etc which I had hoped for. I ate some dinners on week nights (not available at the weekend) and the quality was excellent.

The couple have fantastic taste in the styling of the rooms and outdoor space with more improvements to come. I had an issue with the shower tray; it was flat plastic and extremely slippery when wet with soap/shampoo. I didn't feel safe so bought a cloth in the supermarket to stand on when showering and that did the trick. Also, the hotel location is not ideal, on a thoroughfare and with limited parking. This was such a pity in view of the work put in by the lovely couple. I felt they could perhaps have chosen a better location with more garden, parking and perhaps a view with which to create a wonderful, unique hotel and utilise their marvellous style ideas.

We were upgraded from a Junior suite to the premium room. The room was only recently finished and has everything that you could want for your stay. Excellent decor, very comfortable bed and linens, very clean shower room, as well as a bath. Also quiet and effective air conditioning. The owner provided us with a cheese and meat tray, which we ate along with a glass of beer, in the beautiful and calm courtyard, instead of going back into town for dinner. The hotel is just a few minutes walk to the historical center of Chinon, but is located across the river and in a very quiet neighborhood. The breakfast was buffet style, and delicious (home made yogurt), and we were able to sit either in the dining room or outside in the garden.

Nothing. This is an absolutely perfect play to stay and we hope that we will have another opportunity to visit the Hotel Rive Sud.

The breakfast was excellent. We enjoyed both the food and the ambiance of the breakfast rooms. There was enough variety in the foods to satisfy everyone in our party of four. The staff here is amazing. The hotel is small and they do a great job accommodating guests. There is a wonderful courtyard that is ideal for relaxing at any time. Room was small but with very comfortable beds and very clean. I would stay there any time again and again!
