Domaine de Givre is a simply lovely bed and breakfast in the rolling countryside just outside of Chinon proper. The apartments are in a 4-500 year old converted gatehouse/stable and the tasteful conversion to guest accommodations provides a wonderful juxtaposition between the old and the new. Our host, Ronan, provided a quite scrumptious fresh breakfast each morning, with delicious breads, fruit, cheese, ham and even a soft boiled egg! Two wonderful cats greeted us in the gardens each day, give them a scratch for us Ronan! I highly recommend this property to anyone seeking a quiet, luxury rural getaway in the Loire Valley.

Nothing to speak of, really. Bathroom is a little tight with the exposed beams and the pool could have been warmer!

We stayed for 2 nights on our way back to England from Provence, and this was an deal location to break the journey with comfortable accommodation and a friendly welcome. The breakfast was lovely with local produce which we were able to enjoy in the garden when the weather allowed.

Nothing really, a restaurant within walking distance would have allowed us to enjoy the local wine, but we bought cold meat, cheese and wine to enjoy at home on one evening.

Nice room with amazing historic features and good facilities. Very good breakfast. Charming hosts Vero & Ronan were very helpful. Bed was very comfortable and it was very quiet and peaceful at night, so we slept well.

We had a power outage in our room quite late on Saturday evening and initially it was a bit difficult to get help but we managed to find the breaker switch, so it was fine in the end. It might be worth letting future guests know where to find the breakers in case they have a similar problem.

Wonderful location, very short and easy drive to Chinon (could have biked if we had bikes). Hosts were very welcoming, after our long drive. Accomodation and facilities very well thought out, including details such as pool towels and suncream. We stopped off for a one-night stay after an 8 hour drive from Nice. Such a lovely relaxing break, a quick dip in the pool ... followed by supper in one of Chinon's restaurants. The building where we stayed has been beautifully renovated by Ronan and Vero.

Beautiful surroundings steeped in historical mystique twinned with style and comfort

Our room was beautiful, but the room down stairs was breathtaking, had I of known I would have booked the bottom room.. however the top room had a beautiful little private terrace where breakfast was served each morning.. wow!

Lovely cozy room restored and decorated in style. Easy access to Chinon and welcoming hosts Ronan & Vero. They’ve created a great little refuge with a lovely outdoor space for an apero and you can even go for a swim in their pool in summer. We loved it. Ronan was generous with his recommendations. We ate in L’oceanic in Chinon which was fabulous and went on to visit Chateaux de l’Isette which is open in summer only but we were lucky it was open for us! And the breakfast was out of this world. We will definitely come back if passing close by and recommend to anyone in the neighbourhood.

An absolutely fantastic experience to stay in a medeival building. Ronan and his Madame were wonderful hosts serving a superb breakfast that she delivered to your door. Breads, croissants, fromages, meats, cereals, confiture, juices etc. etc. etc. A beautiful property that they have done extensive personal work upon, AND - It shows !!!

The rainy weather, and not enough time to enjoy the lovely swimming pool that Ronen built on the property.

The room was beautiful. The hosts were extremely friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was outstanding. We never made it to the pool but it was there to use and we would have but the weather the day we arrived was not so good. The town of Chiron was nearby to eat and drink, an easy couple of days can be spent here visiting the area. Would thoroughly recommend it.

We stayed in this charming place during our honeymoon and it was very nice! The room is in a converted medieval barn: it is very spacious, decorated with style and care, and features two separate sitting areas. The breakfast was more than ample - with plenty of options to choose from - one of the best we had in France. What makes the place really special is its owners - Vero and Ronan. To give only one example: Vero kindly did our laundry for us and didn't even charge for it! Overall, an unforgettable experience!

If there's one thing I would recommend is a mosquito screen on the window, so that it can be safely opened at night.

The location is great for visiting Chinon, Fontevraud etc. The room was charming and the hosts could not have been more helpful. There is no restaurant but the breakfast was superb and served in your room. Sadly the weather did not allow us to use the lovely swimming pool!
