Even though this was advertised as an automated entry system, there was still a friendly man there to greet us when we arrived. He explained everything we needed to know. The cleaning lady knew everything else and helped us out a couple of times. The room was adequate, very clean and the beds were comfy enough. The walk into Basel across the border was not too onerous, and the difference in price between the Swiss side and the French side was well worth the walk.

The explanation about checking in, regarding parking and where to find the keys were excellent although it was all written in French ! But translate App helped. All worked out well. We had a modern room with a small kitchenette, even a sink, microwave, kettle & coffe including cutlery & crockery was there. Parking was safe and it was quiet. The location is literally 50 m before the Swiss border so perfect for a night to break up the long drive to Italy. Host was very friendly. All perfect!

Bed was a little small for 2 people. Internet reception to stream the German TV channels was a bit slow, so it broke up a lot.

For Basel trip it is perfect.You can pass the frontier by walking 1minute and go to Basel's main points by tram 11. Wifi is good.The room is clean and hot in January,Mr Schmitt is helpful.The room is big enough for me and my kid.When you arrive hotel,you see an envelope in the name of yours at the main door.Then you can learn your room number and details.Your room is open and the key is in your room next to your coffee packets. İf you come from St Louis Gare, get on bus 604 and get off at 'Frontier' stop.İf you come from Basel Bahnhof,take tram 11 and get off the last stop.if you dont want to pay much,it is perfect.

Everything is fine,but if you are a person of details,maybe you need a hairdryer, some more utensils and a dish sponge. The water sound of the other bathrooms may be annoying for you.

The room was very big, clean, comfortable and in a fantastic location. The hotel is very quiet and I got a good night sleep. Its literally right beside the Swiss border and tram service so perfect if you want to visit Basel.

I liked everything about the hotel, the only small criticism I had was that the hotel leaves your key in an envelope with your name and room number on it pinned to a letterbox outside in the open, anyone could have taken it and let themselves into our room.. I was quite concerned about that.

A comfortable room, bed was comfortable, towels were big and fluffy, water was hot. It is around 15 minutes from Basel SBB by tram but you just jump on number 11 and ride until the end. From there only about 200 M, just over the a French border. Our train was late and we did not get in until 10pm but the owner came out and met us.

There is not much around the area except for a bakery. Everything else requires a tram ride. Basel has free public transport for international visitors but as this property is located in France we did not qualify.

The room was spotlessly clean and fairly large. My room had a fridge, microwave and hot plates with some essential cookware, which might be nice for travellers staying longer. The hotel is also conveniently located almost on the Swiss border, with the tram that goes into central Basel about a 4 minute walk away. The hotel is also close to several restaurants and the centre of Saint Louis is about a 15 minute walk and the Saint Louis train station only slightly further. This hotel is a really good option to use as a base should you want to explore the nearby towns in France of Colmar and Strasbourg and also Basel city centre being about a 15 minute tram ride away. There are also various local public transport options to get the Basel/Mulhouse/Freiburg airport quickly.

I'd have preferred a "closed in" shower, i.e. one with glass panels on the side to help prevent water spillage.

Safe parking. Quiet area, shops and refreshments near by (short walking distance). The room/apartment was large with a good size bathroom and usable kitchen area with the necessary crockery and cutlery, stove and kettle.

The room was quite old in style which some may not like. However I found nothing to dislike as it was exactly what I needed as a stopover on my drive from UK to Athens.

a nice, clean room with kitchenette. Very clean linen and towels as it should be, in a quiet area on the border with Basel. Efficient staff who come daily to clean. The accommodation is located in a building next to the hotel

The room was quite spacious and very clean, with a nice bathroom and shower and even a kitchenette and mini-fridge. Communication beforehand and upon arrival was very good. Quiet neighborhood. Very good value for money.

When people went up and down the stairs, the noise was quite loud and there was a door that closed loudly. But thankfully people were not up late, and then it was quiet through the night.

We stayed at Hotel Porte de France as a less expensive way to visit Basel (Switzerland). It's just a 2min walk from the border, another 1min to the tram. Within 20mins you can be in the heart of Basel! The studio was simple, well laid out and clean. We briefly met Monsieur Schmitt, and he was very welcoming!

There is very little dining inventory in the kitchenette. But that was OK with us, as we ate out.
