Good location for university. The old town and shopping areas were about 10.00 minute walk. Access to public transport taxis and trams on door step. My room and bathroom were clean and comfortable with good choice of non alcoholic drinks in mini bar. Breakfast menu was excellent. Free coffee and tea machine all day ending at 9.30pm. As my flight had been cancelled owing to industrial action at Basel airport it made my arrival at the hotel very early the following morning. The staff were very accommodating and left me the code to the main door, the swipe card and instructions for accessing my room but glad I had my mini torch with me! It all worked well if the experience was a little surreal! Staff were extremely helpful. Useful shops such as a pharmacy and grocery store very near by and a few useful cafes and restuarants.

As a Brit I would have welcomed tea and coffee making facilities in my room. Access to my room was a little complicated since it involved moving from one building to another and having to negotiate two lifts each time.

Everything was spotlessly clean. The bed was comfortable and the bedclothes warm and cozy. The shower facilities were easy to figure out and use. The hot water was hot and came on quickly. The room was quiet and the drapes made it dark, so it was easy to sleep. The drapes covered a huge floor to ceiling window that made the room light and airy when they were open. Location was good. There were 2 supermarkets in walking distance so I could purchase a couple of things for my plant based diet and a small frig/minibar big enough to hold them. And there was a lovely Lebanese restaurant just on the corner offering a menu of delicious vegan and vegetarian foods. The hotel was about a 6 minute walk from a bus line to Basel SBB train station.

It was a split level room, I was a little afraid of waking in middle of night, not remembering at first where I was, and taking a fall down the stairs.

This is one of the nicest hotels we'd stayed in lately. It's in an old building that's very well maintained but still has its quirks to make it interesting. Our room was in the attic, very clean and quiet with plenty of storage space and comfy beds. The view from the window is lovely and there's a "soft" alarm of church bells in the morning. The location is quite central, close to museums and other landmarks and there's plenty of restaurants and cafes within walking distance. Breakfast is quite varied and sure to fit any preferences. We'd be happy to book here again.

We should have stayed a few days longer.

The location is amazing. The staff was great.

My only complaint was I interpreted the parking to be included not off-site. It wasn't far, so not a big deal, but that was not how I read it on the online site.

I arrived in the late evening on my first day & had brought in some food to have in my room. The receptionist couldn't be more helpful & gave me bread rolls & cutlery. The hotel is spotlessly clean & tidy & my room was the same. I was in room 14 on the ground floor overlooking the little courtyard & it was so quiet. My room was so clean & had everything I needed. My bed was really comfy & although the room was really warm, the aircon helped to cool it down. The hotel is located on a quiet road opposite the University & on a bus route & the no 11 tram goes from the end of the road. However the centre of town & the river are all a short walk. It is a perfect location to enjoy everything that Basel had to offer & it is a beautiful & well designed city & the people very chilled. It is so easy to get around & to be able to travel to France & Germany on a free tram is quite unique. I certainly made use of the free Baselcard which is free to any tourists staying overnight in Basel & free to residents. I highly recommend this gorgeous hotel & city.

I loved everything about this hotel & city

trams are close. never had to wait more than couple of minutes any time any direction. All free travel with Basel card which is free with any hotel stay. Its valid from check in day to checkout day so incudes airport transfer bus ( 50) from and to Basel SBB station -airport. You only need booking confirmation, until you check -in . when you receive card from hotel. big 50% discounts to attraction like zoo. tours. etc. So much to do , Great indoor water park . So much to enjoy and see. We have been back four times to this pretty city. It also has a Carls jr. fast food outlet as well as numerous usual Mc ds, kfc b.king.

Shops closed Sunday . So used to shopping in UK on sun.

My brother and I had a fantastic stay at Hotel Rochat Central City while visiting Basel to meet friends and explore the city. The hotel is located in the heart of the old town. It provides a perfect blend of historical charm and modern comfort. Its central yet quiet location near the university made it an ideal base for sightseeing. Our room was modern, spacious and very comfortable. The bathroom was fantastic with a great shower. The room also had convenient heating that kept it very warm and cozy for the cold winter nights. Plus, excellent free WiFi, perfect for both working remotely. What truly made our stay exceptional was the staff, who were incredibly welcoming, accommodating and always ready with great recommendations to enhance our time in Basel. For anyone looking for a well-located, comfortable, and friendly place to stay in Basel, Hotel Rochat is an excellent choice!

Zero complaints. We had a fantastic stay.

The hotel is situated 10 minutes walk to the Marktplatz where a lot of buses and trams stops. It is about 1,5 km to the Basel SBB (trains to France for example). There are a few steps to the elevator - but nothing too difficult. The breakfast is an usual continental breakfast with yogurt, juices, hot sausages, scrambled eggs, panncakes - no boiled eggs though, cheese and cold meats etc. There is a nice lobby/living room with a small artificial fire. The room has a little refrigerator. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Two restaurants nearby - Indian and Lebanese.

Very nice building in the Old Town that has been kept in great shape and updated. I was upgraded to a larger room — it was enormous, with high ceilings and beautiful, huge windows. The layout was really nice and everything was spotless. I appreciated the number of outlets and USB ports. The bathroom was spacious and pristine. The desk clerk when I arrived was very kind and friendly and he provided me with a lot of assistance.

The only thing that wasn’t perfect? The shower head kept dripping for a while after the water was turned off. Other than that silly little thing, everything was lovely.

Our room was large, with a seating area and a lovely, spacious shower room. The TV was huge but we didn't investigate it much as we were too busy having fun in Basel. The location was excellent and close to the old town. The public transport is free with your Basel card and very frequent. A 5 minute walk takes you to the University no. 30 stop with buses going from and to both railway stations and obviously places between (other buses and trams are available). The buses have screens telling you which stop is next so is totally idiot proof for those, like myself, who don't get out much. You don't even need to try and speak to anyone - just get on! The breakfast was much more comprehensive than I anticipated including cooked, croissants and bread, fruit, yoghurt, cheese, ham etc and I understand the coffee machine made very good coffee - however tea (ie English breakfast variety) is not the same as at home... but that is no surprise...

Everything was pretty good really but FYI no tea/coffee making facilities in the room which those of us who generally only holiday in the UK expect. Also - in an ideal world I would like a restaurant and or bar for those evenings when you are exhausted after all the culture/fun.... but to be fare the hotel never said there was...
