I was quite satisfied with this hotel. The room was rather large, had a big bed, an armchair, a table, a TV, a wardrobe. Everything was clean and in good condition. Free WiFi worked well. It was sufficiently quiet at night. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was small, but clean and functional. Air conditioning worked really well in the scorching heat (I visited during a heatwave). The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location is good, walking distance to both the attractions in the old town and to the train station. There are plenty of restaurants on Steinenvorstadt nearby. While the hotel is rather expensive on an absolute scale, this is Switzerland, so everything is expensive. It is quite reasonable compared to other hotels in Basel.

The bathroom was rather small. I found the breakfast overpriced even for Switzerland, so I didn't try it.

It is a very conveniently located (close to the railway station and the city center) hotel. Rooms are comfortable. Staff is helpful. Very good breakfast buffet (including my favorite porridge). Good wifi connection.

It appears that, unlike on the hotel's page, at the booking.com site it is not possible to select backyard rooms. The street-view rooms are sound-proof, but it is not possible to let the window open during the night - the street noise is too loud. Thanks to the staff, I could get for a half of my stay a backyard room, but for the other half I had to move to the street-view one, with a less comfortable sleep as a result.

We had such a wonderful stay! The staff were friendly and helpful, and our room was spotless and well-organised. We loved the coffee machine, the fan, and the radio, not to mention the fantastic shower. They even welcomed us with complimentary drinks! We wouldn't think twice about staying here again. The location is perfect—just a quick 10-minute walk from bus 50 from the airport, or you can take bus 30 from the station, which is really close to the bus stop. Plus, there's a lovely garden where you can relax after a day of exploring. I highly recommend buying a dry bag to join the locals swimming along the Rhine and soaking up the summer sun. It's such a fun way to enjoy the area!

The staff was very friendly and let us check in pretty early. The location is close to the train station and close to the old city. There were food options close enough by. The free sparkling water tap was a nice touch. I think this is a swiss thing but the hotel had free publich transit cards to use. I believe you can also get these cards before you check in also which is nice if you're coming from the airport.

Not the hotels fault but was a little hard to navigate from the train station to the hotel. There's a lot of streets overlaping eachother which can be a little confusing if you're walking.

The staff were superb. We want to particularly thank Samuel who served us our complimentary drink at the bar and was an interesting chap who told us a little about Swiss life. The record player in the room made us smile, and though we didn't use it, it was a unique feature, a nice touch. We opted for breakfast in the gorgeous peaceful garden. It was the most glorious variety of food and drink - by far the best we have experienced around the world!

We struggled with the plug. It wasn't very secure in the wall!

The room at the very top floor was a good size with a standard double bed and a balcony large enough to have a chair to relax in. It also had a separate en-suite bathroom which was a good size with very modern furnishings - the shower water pressure was one of the best experienced over several decades of travelling on business; and a simple joy. Not all rooms had separate bathrooms though - my colleague’s room had the wash basin and shower cubicle within the bedroom space. The hotel is located only a short walk from many bars and restaurants with trams near by and bus stops outside the hotel so was an ideally located. It’s 3 minutes to the Basel SBB train station by bus and from there, 20 minutes by bus to the airport.

The quality of the breakfast was great but it was a majority cold buffet with boiled eggs as the only hot offering at between 07:00 - 07:30. Perhaps I misunderstood the description when booking, or simply didn’t notice hot items in a different area, I don’t know; but expected (hoped for) a few more hot items for the price.

The staff are friendly, helpful and professional. The buffet breakfast starts from 6 AM through 10:30 AM which is very well prepared with delicious baked croissants and breads, fresh preserves and butter, hot porridge and various roasted vegetables, mushrooms, cold cuts, various cheeses, yogurts, fresh and dry fruits and nuts...of course various coffee and teas. The location is very convenient which is one tram stop from the train station and walking distance to the City Center. We had the Small Charming Room which it's true to its name. We had wonderful time and extended our staying because we had such a nice time!

We didn't eat meals there but did get a free "welcome" drink which was nice, and they had a decently stocked bar area and some seating in their lobby. They have a very nice courtyard area that we sat in on our last day. Nice seating choices and a pond with running water which is always a nice touch, in my opinion. The staff who greeted us were very friendly, and hooked us up with a card which gave us 50% off discount for the city bus tour and free transit rides so all we had to do was walk across the street to catch the bus, and then transfer to the train.

The location won't win prizes for being the most scenic, and the outside of the building is serviceable but doesn't inspire warm fuzzy thoughts, but inside was quite pleasant, and the room very comfortable. A short walk and you are within a very large area that is full of restaurants and shopping.

The hotel was very well located, near the train station and the old town. Personnel were very nice, specially Elmira. The room was incredibly silent. The shower was amazing. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. There is a beautiful outdoor garden. Welcome drink on arrival. Internet was super fast. You can borrow an umbrella and even the famous Wickelfisch. I would definitely stay here again.

Although the description read "Tea/coffee maker", which I always specifically look for, the room only had a coffee maker. To get hot water, I had to go to the breakfast area. I love to have a cup of tea before going to bed, so after taking a shower, I had to dress, go to the breakfast area, grab a cup of hot water, go back to the room, undress and put on my pijamas. I was told that their insurance company specifically prohibits electric water heaters in rooms, which I find strange because all the other hotels I've stayed in in Switzerland did have an electric kettle. Nothing too serious, though. The shower floor was extremely slippery. I suggest putting a non-slip mat. It would have been nice if the room had a suitcase holder.

From the moment we arrived the staff were helpful and friendly all through to checkout. An amazing spread at breakfast and little touches like bathrobes, slippers and a turntable with records in the room make it feel more than the 3 star it has on the front. Even the "small charming room" was plenty spacious for three nights. Location for trams, restaurants and shops was perfect eve. With the steps up and down to the town.

WiFi could be a bit poor in some areas of hotel and a mirror above the desk would be great for those who want to do their hair and make up sat down.
