The rooms are in a quiet location with birds chirping and face a green inner courtyard, although the hotel is located on the noisy square at the entrance to Basel's train station. The cleanliness is absolutely perfect. The welcoming staff responds to every request and always with a smile and a pleasant, relaxed atmosphere. The Basel card is great. The breakfast is of a high standard with an emphasis on fresh, local and healthy food Variety and very tasty. Thank you very much.

Have been staying at your hotel since 2016 with my husband, unfortunately he passed away in 2018, so since 2019 I have been coming on my own. When I leave I travel to Appenzell, my husband and I have been going there for many years, and when he could not drive, he found out we could get a flight from Bristol to Basel and after staying in your hotel, we could get the train to Appenzell, so I have always been happy to stay at your hotel. Location is perfect right at the train station, and they have a parking that you can access directly from the Hauptbahnhof parking and get a reduced rate of 25.- instead of 35.- per day and including in-and-out privileges.

Parking a little small, once we came back and there was no available spot. It's fist come first served. If full it's ok to use one of the electrical charge spots if empty, but not the car rental spots, they don't belong to the hotel.

Excellent breakfast choice, including freshly cooked omelettes to order. Location superb if using train to Basel main station. 1min walk from main entrance. Also close to trams into centre of city. Helpful staff at reception on check in gave us passes to use for the trams, which we made use of even though we only had half a day to explore.

Our room was in the annexe, adjoined to main hotel building. Accessed via a very hot glass corridor.

Location is flawless for ease of access after you have arrived or about to leave Basel. Right in front of the hotel you have a selection of trams and buses that will take you wherever you need. Rooms are extremely spacious and comfortable and modern. You can also find a great place to get some work done which is not always the case even at solid properties. Breakfast is one of the best hotel breakfasts you will find, definitely recommended.

Privilege of the location can come at a cost of increased noise outside. Solid windows take care of 90% of the noise (trams, people hanging out next to the train station), but expect to hear some during the “quiet” hours.

We stayed in room 215 which was spacious and quiet. The location is excellent - literally opposite the SBB train station and there are many tram stops just outside the hotel. The buffet breakfast served hot and cold and was very varied. It’s a short walk to the old town of Basel. We did not have a car, nor did we need one as the hotel is very central.

The decor in the room was a bit dreary.

The location was excellent! The hotel is right across the central train station. The city center (Old Town) was easily accessible by tram. The hotel even provided us with free pass to the tram, anywhere in the city. The staff was very kind and accommodating. The room was spacious and had a couch.

Everything went well during our stay except for the presence of pick pockets lurking in the city. Also, there were three steps going to our room and these made it difficult for us to carry our suitcases. Nonetheless, we still enjoyed our stay in the hotel.

This is the second time I have stayed at the Hotel Victoria and I again enjoyed the location, rooms and facilities. The breakfast is Ok not fantastic!! I have stayed in many hotels where it is much better. The tea/cofee provision is minimal and choices of food again minimal but OK - considering the price. The price is high because of its location - but next time IK will try one of the other well located hotels.

Perfect location when travelling by train. DOG FRIENDLY. We were travelling with 2 dachshunds, and they were able to come to the restaurant and the breakfast room. The staff are extremely profesenial and all appear to speak good English, that helps, thank you. We've stayed before, the beds are fantastic and everything is so clean. Our journey from Surrey to Italy is made a pleasure when we stop over for the night here.

The location of the hotel across the street from the main train station was great and made it easy to get around the city. The room was very large for Europe and comfortable. The staff were personable and very helpful. The bistro/cafe was great to get a coffee and croissant in the morning.

Like many hotels in Europe, getting the room to a comfortable (cool) temperature is difficult without opening the windows. Fortunately, we had a quiet room (away from the noise of the city) so we could keep the windows open all night.
