The breakfast buffet was excellent with a good range of options and for the length of time it was available. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and had very good facilities.

Advance notification that the 'weekend vibes' and 'city centre location' mentioned on the hotel website really mean that on Friday and Saturday nights the adjacent night clubs and entertainment venues playing very loud music mean sleep is impossible until 4am. The noise level reached 98 dcb at times and the bass shook the room which means, unless you intend to be out clubbing yourself, a midweek stay at this venue is to be recommended rather than a weekend break.

A stylish and comfortable hotel in a central location. Rooms are spacious, stylish and have everything you need. Very comfortable bed, good shower and even a free minibar (mainly soft drinks). Buffet breakfast was exceptional and served in the rooftop bar, which is a great place for a cocktail too. I stayed during the week and it was quiet, although I can imagine at weekends the bars on the street would be loud.

The only thing that could be an issue, and I did not know of when booking, is the lack of air con as per local environmental legislation. The room in early March felt a bit warm and stuffy and I would prefer a colder room to sleep in. I imagine the room could be baking hot in the summer!

Everything about this hotel was excellent. The location was incredibly convenient, just a short distance from both the airport and Basel’s Old Town, making it ideal for a short stay. The comfort and cleanliness of the rooms were top-notch, and the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful throughout my visit. One of the standout features was the hotel's proximity to everything. It made exploring the city so easy and stress-free. An added bonus was receiving the Basel Card, which gave free access to public transport and discounts on attractions such as museums and the zoo, a fantastic perk that added real value to the stay. I also really appreciated the high-quality coffee machine in the lobby, a small touch that made a big difference! Overall, this hotel is a perfect choice if you're visiting Basel and want to be close to both the airport and the city's main attractions. I look forward to staying there again one day. Highly recommended.

Everything was perfect

Property is clean and cosy, all products offered are of excellent quality (eg bed linen, coffee and tea, bath towels, shower products, etc).

As mentioned by travelers the location can be noisy, don’t go there to relax and rest (although my night was quiet on Tuesday), but this is well known and not a surprise so no problem for me. I would argue that rooms on the first floor are not ideal as they are on the reception floor and it’s a bit noisy with people coming or waiting there and talking… so if you have a choice avoid first floor!

Firstly the staff were absolutely lovely. We had an early flight, so we arrived to drop our bags before heading out and explore Basel. Not only was our room ready quite quickly, Bettina was so kind to let us know when our room was ready (which was earlier than scheduled). The breakfast staff were very kind as well. Our room was very nice too, great heating, comfortable beds, clean, modern. When we arrived the hotel had also gotten us Basel Cards, so we could immediately put them to use and this proved very beneficial to have exploring Basel. Will definitely stay here again!

I had a great stay

The location is fantastic. Right in the center to walk to some major places (Kunstmuseum, Marktplazt, Münster…) + 2 minutes from the big tram station (Barfüsser platz) with possibility to go everywhere fast (direct tram line to the famous Beyeler foundation nobody wants to miss). Also walking distance from the train station. The room was super comfortable and stylish + Quiet despite being in a busy street with restaurants & terrasses. Breakfast on the rooftop is the best way to start the day with tasty local products. And the staff is super pro, helpful and friendly. Special thanks to Chris who answered all my fancy questions. It was beyond my expectations and I’ll go back anytime. I warmly recommend the Art House hotel for anyone who wants a seamless & vibrant experience of Basel.

Nothing. This place goes straight in my top 3 favorite.

The staff were superb especially Bettina who went out of her way to make our stay comfortable. The roof top bar area was cosy and the breakfast in the same venue offered many choices; cooked and buffet and at the best price we discovered in all of Switzerland; 25 Swiss Francs per head for breakfast would be expensive in any other country, but its the bargain of the century in Switzerland! The bed was large and extremely comfortable and the room was spacious and nicely decorated with excellent amenities in the room.

Outside (Friday and Saturday) was very noisy at night with insufficient sound proofing.

Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice. The room was large with modern facilities and cleanliness of a very high standard. It was very handy location wise for us and local attractions quite nearby so very good in that respect.

Unfortunately the noise from the bars on the road below was too much for us. It probably would be great if music and bars was your thing. We did ask during booking if possible for a quieter room as recommended in other comments but not too sure if we ended up in a quieter part of the hotel.

The design of the room is very pleasant and comfortable. The location is excellent and the hotel is cosy, lovely, and amazing. Staffs are generally very friendly, welcoming, and helpful.

I had a bit of a trouble during check out regarding the payment system. We have already paid online at booking.com, but the staff at that time insisted that we have not paid yet, so it took quite a while and a bit of a back and forth before they found the payment. I was in a hurry for my train during that time hence it was a little frustrating at that moment but luckily everything was settled in the end.

The room was very clean, spacious with a concise design. Complimentary mini bar. Breakfast was varied with quality products. The location of the hotel is good, you can walk all around the center. No parking at the hotel, but there is a multi-level covered paid parking lot across the street. It takes 1 minute to get from the parking lot to the hotel entrance. Friday night there was a lot of noise from the street (lots of nightclubs and bars there), but the rest of the days were quiet. There are earplugs in the room to help with the noise.

There's a desk in the room for work. But you can't fit your legs under it at all.
