The hotel is in the perfect location if you are going to be using the main station a lot. Bus 50 euro airport goes from the station to the airport and vice versa. Super easy to catch and use. The staff are so nice and friendly. The beds super comfy. Cold bottled water can be found on the 2nd floor if needed. I would definitely stay here again.

For my fellow vegans do not add the breakfast to your stay. Unfortunately, we did and we didn't get anything, expect fruit and buttered bread. The hotel admitted this was their mistake as it was communicated before our arrival and still we received no refund which wasn't very fair considering we paid for something we never received, and it wasn't exactly cheap. They did offer to remove the daily tax (which we had paid for on bookings.com so nothing was removed and gave us a free fridge magnet). For breakfast you can walk across to the main station 2nd floor there is a 100% plant based bakery that has many options and it's friendly and affordable. There is also the coop on the same floor that has a vegan range in the fridge for salads etc.

A good size room with large bathroom and shower. Room appeared to be recently re-furbished. A good location, close to train station and trams. Basel old town was easily accessed by walking or tram. Nice breakfast room, but a bit expensive to eat there every morning.

Tram interchange was below our window and was very noisy so we had to close the window at night. This meant we had to put the AC on to get some air, but the AC was a bit too intense even on the lowest fan setting.

Everything was wonderful! Our room was beautiful - we stayed in an ambient double, which was 27m square - really spacious. The bathroom was also spacious, very modern with a large walk in shower. Bottles of complimentary water (both still + sparkling) were freely available from a fridge in a dedicated room on each floor. The breakfast food selection was fabulous - freshly prepared fruit, cheeses, Bircher muesli, cold meats, nuts, seeds, hot selection and pastries. Finally, the staff were really friendly and extremely helpful, including lending us an hexagonal adaptor to enable us to use the sockets in our room. The Schweizterhoff is only a 3 star hotel, but feels far more luxurious. Only a 2 minute walk from Basel SBB. What more can I say!

Very minor detail really - Despite the excellent double glazing, including ‘patio doors’ onto a shallow balcony, could still hear the trams.

Breakfast at CHF 20 (paid in advance or else CHF 25) was excellent. Spotlessly clean throughout. Right at SBB station. Beautiful building. Photo was accurate.

Very minimalist furnishing creates a less welcoming feel and impression. The single pillow looks large but has no structure or support and was essentially just a bag of soft fluff. My wife felt the same way, I know Switzerland is expensive but I believe this property is not great value in my opinion. Booked 18 weeks out and paid CHF 200 for Ambiente Double Room without breakfast. Would rate at 7.8. Looked at other properties in months after booking but prices were escalating so did not change.

The staff in this hotel is very friendly, helpful, and efficient. Our room (in the newer section) was quite spacious and comfortable. The location near the train station and tram stops is very convenient. The hotel provides a pass to the Basel transportation system and discounts to attractions which we were happy to use. The tram system itself is easy to use.

I liked everything! I wish we could have stayed longer to explore this beautiful city.

Perfect location for us, it was an overnight stop during a longer trip and it was perfect to be so close to the main station. Staff was exceptionally nice and helpful (I had a special request to have medication refrigerated, they were prepared and helped immediately; we arrived quite late and were still able to hang out int he very nice bar and enjoy a drink). The Breakfast buffet is outstanding both in terms of quality and richness. The rooms is very beautiful and comfortable with great view on the street and the surrounding. Despite the noisy area (around the main station), with closed windows the room was very quiet.

The only thing I did not like, but it is n intercultural issue, I think, is the pillows. I had such pillows before in Switzerland and I think it is their way. For me they are too soft (they almost disappear under my head no matter how much I fold them) - as a side sleeper it is not very comfortable. The air conditioning was very weak (meaning: the room was rather hot), but it did not bother me because I do not like too strong AC. It might be an issue for others though.

Spacious room - seemed very quiet and private. Directly at the train station which is very convenient. Overall a good place for a quick stay if you need it, which is pretty much the point of this train station hotel.

The place has a vintage vibe which is a bit odd and it feels kind of dated. Could barely find any power outlets to use in our room. No A/C and windows open to the outside so bugs get in. Not too bad aside from these nitpicks.

A centrally-located hotel with plenty of space in rooms, and professional and friendly staff. We were given Basel Cards with our stay, which allowed us to use public transport and discounts on tourist activities and attractions.

We really enjoyed our stay here. There was noise from the tram station in front of the hotel. We were not bothered by the noise, but others might be more sensitive to it.

Lovely Hotel opposite the main Basel SBB railway station. Very convenient for getting into the city as the tram stop is just outside and you're given a free Travel Card. Very clean, good wifi, lovely big rooms with a kettle and a bathtub as well as a shower. Staff were all very friendly and efficient. I stayed during Eurovision week so the Hotel was fully booked and very busy, but everything still ran perfectly. Breakfast was great.

Breakfast was great, with a lot of variety, rooms are spacious, location is right by the tram station, making everything accessible. Staff was very helpful, Especially Thomas from the Reception, I was visiting with mother who was having surgery in Basel , and he was extremely helpful and kind, while I was trying to figure out how to manage my mother's surgery in a city that I don't know. Also when the heating was not working at night, the receptionist brought up an electric heater.
