Lovely quirky hotel, located on a quiet street, close to the city center with a bunch of restaurants and a zoo. We were given free transport passes and discounts to a bunch of museums. The check-in and check-out were super easy and fast, and the staff were friendly and helpful :) The hotel itself was quiet and charming. The room was spacious and had a desk and a closet. We took a wider bed, and it was huge! The bathroom had some heating under the floors.

The shower looked like there was a misalignment with planning and execution :) the shower cabin was super tiny, the water tap was right under one's elbow when trying to shower. There were also no kettle or tea/coffee in the room. One of the pillows should be replaced, as it was clumped up inside.

Lovely , friendly lady on reception when we arrived. Good clean reception area and again very clean bedroom. Lovely white linen on the beds and good quality towels provided, too. Excellant location , 5 minute walk to the town and start of the bars, restaurants and shops .

There was no fan in the room when it was on the list of room facilities. No kettle or tea and coffee facilities either, when a kettle again was listed. Apparently, we had to ask for them, By the time we realised this, it was too late as the reception shut at 8pm. This was at a time when it was 36° outside at 5.30pm .

Very clean, the receptionist very friendly. Close to the station and the center.

Simple and very pleasant, neat place in an excellent location - 3 mins walk from a big garage, 3 mins from the zoo (I was with a kid) and 10 mins from the historic city center. Breakfast was also simple with a limited selection of food, but everything was nice - bread and cold cuts and cereal, also coffee (though everyone has different taste in coffee). It’s has a lovely inner court for a summer terrace, I imagine it’s lovely in summer (still chilly when I was there). The hotel was perfect for an overnight stay in Basel

Stayed for ESC and overall was impressed. Perfect location, very quiet, extremely clean and comfortable, good value for money, kettle and cup on request, reception generally helpful. Overall would definitely recommend for a stay in Basel.

Luggage storage arrangements not particularly secure. No safe in room or other safe storage facility for passports and valuables. Both of these could really be improved.

Simple but effective. It's a reasonably no frills hotel. The room is kind of basic, but clean and comfortable. Bathroom was pretty small, but this was not necessarily an issue for us, as it was set up in an effective way. The staff was very kind and welcoming. Not the best location, but close to the city centre, so everything is within walking distance.

The pillows: they are huge bags of mostly air that give almost zero support.

My room was nice and clean, and the hotel's decor was fun and eclectic. Breakfasts were enjoyable with a nice selection of fruits, breads, juices, meats, and more. The hotel was nice and close to Heuwaage for the tram. It's less than 5 minutes' walk to Zoo Basel, which is an absolute must-see. My room came with a discount card for free tram rides and half-price entry to the zoo, another perk of my stay. Easy entry after hours with the room key card, and the elevator made getting my suitcase to my room less difficult.

Beside location which was top and what we needed, the building and interior very interesting and clean and comfortable rooms; the cherry on the cake was for us the hosts and how they approached us and our family. We had 3 kids with us, so a lot of noise, but they were very very nice to fit all our needs and with a big smile. They recommended the ways to the zoo, special activities and museums and even the lady in the breakfast was fine with all the kids requests. Thank you and we really recommend this hotel in Basel.

A beautiful little hotel with polite and helpful staff. Clean room and had all the facilities we needed. Very close ( walking distance 10-15 minutes) to everywhere in the city station, river and all the sightseeings. Christmas markets and nice restaurants were only 10 minutes from the hotel. Love our stay at Birsighof and will definetely recommend it and also stay again next time we are in Basel. Forgot to mention the little magnets from different places of the world on the lift door that give the place a home away from home touch 😊

The room and bathroom were brand new, decoration was simple and modern. It felt like we were the first guests there. Well done to the cleaning team. Despite the warm temperature the room was really fresh. Super quiet. Staff was welcoming and helpful. We appreciated the free public transport tickets for the whole duration of our stay.
