I am absolutely blown away by how they not only have a phenomenal hotel that I consider to be a definite 5 star * but everything, and I mean right down to the finest accommodations, the cleanliness,the atmosphere and the service was above and beyond! From the very start of choosing this hotel, I just knew, just knew in my heart and in my gut which is always my go-to instinct, that I was going to love this place. The deciding factor was the ongoing response and constant contact that my conversations were heard and welcomed. David is by far the heart and soul of this.His standard of human kindness was always a natural response , and it seems to have gone away.He has restored and brought it here , and it truly makes a difference.I would choose this place, hands down, every time.I would be neglectful if I didn't mention Julia, who helped so much and in her humbling way ,would give all of the credits to David! How refreshing it is to encounter that! As the restaurant was beautiful, the food was delicious, the presentation was meticulously executed, and my server both times was Hubert, so kudos to the restaurant as well .Thank you all again, and I apologize for not having the names of all that helped achieve this amazing experience. What's not to like!

What is not to like! We loved the kind welcome from staff on arrival. The staff were attentive and available to help with anything we needed throughout our 9 day stay. We enjoyed the breakfast especially the porridge and fresh omelette options. A good addition would be more pastries rather than just bread, rolls and croissants. The room was a great size with great bathroom and amazing rain shower. The towels were fluffy and products supplied were divine. The free mini bar with a section of drinks and snacks replenished daily was a welcome treat in the afternoons! Having arrived in the middle of a heat wave we knew air conditioning may not be enough (Swiss have strict govt laws for sustainable air conditioning systems throughout the country) but the front desk supplied a fan which got us through the peak days perfectly. We loved the terrace bar and visited it throughout our stay. The location was great for walking and also for accessing trams. The free trams card gifted at the start of our stay meant we travelled free everywhere although we had prepurchased 7 day passes prior to arriving at the hotel which cost 50chf each - so would have been good to know this before arriving. We loved our gifted chocolate blocks on checkout. I had several friends (4 bookings) also book and we all loved staying here whilst our sons performed in the 2025 Basel tattoo. The hotel is impeccably clean and well appointed. The staff are multi-lingual, courteous, and accommodating. The hotel itself is just off the Market Square which puts everything within easy walking distance.

The hotel’s location, while a strength, is equally a disadvantage. Being in the city center means that the street tram runs right alongside the hotel. The trams run 24/7. Their noise is quite noticeable, even on the highest floors. Pro tip: Book/request a room whose last two digits are 08 or lower (e.g. 306, 402). These rooms are on the opposite side of the hotel from the tram, making the noise far less of an issue. Rooms that end in 09 through 16 (e.g. 412 or 316) are on the side facing the tram and the street.

Location is great. Good restaurant downstairs too. The room size was good, but I did have to book a more expensive room to get a decent size. I was there for a 3 day event, and like all hotels, the price did not reflect the standard of the hotel. Just the usual ridiculous price hikes. Really good choice of restaurants that served local food within close proximity. Shopping in the area is fantastic. Good quantity and variety of local quality shops. Basel is a beautiful little city.

The bed was good quality but too firm with springs. It would be nice if they offered memory foam toppers. They are not expensive to buy and can make the world of difference for us more senior ppl with hip and back issues. There is no air conditioning allowed in the old town, and hotels are very heated in winter. Even though I had the heating turned off, I had to open the tiny windows in my room. Just something to be aware of in summer.

Location was perfect, lovely building outside, smart and modern inside. Fantastic shower, good quality toiletries provided. Was worried about the room temperature after the other reviews but it was fine and the system was adjustable. There is so much to do close by but there is also a tram stop right outside, the hotel provides you with the Basel card so you can get right across the city quickly for free. The hotel is only 30mins from the airport in total using the free bus (no. 50) and tram (no.8)

Nothing not to like for us, ongoing construction work outside and trams going past, but it is a city location! Be prepared, Basel is not cheap 🤣

We stayed at this hotel for four nights. The room was good and clean, which we appreciated. However, the room service definitely needs improvement. I ordered twice through the digital concierge (which is a nice feature), but both times there were issues. The first time, they forgot one of the burgers. I requested it again, waited 40 minutes, but no one came, so I had to cancel it. The next day, we ordered room service again, and once more, they forgot the French fries and a glass of wine. When I mentioned this to the staff member who delivered our order, she didn’t apologize and simply said, “The kitchen is in a hurry.” When I pointed out that this was the second time it had happened, her response was a dismissive “Yeah, okay.” That’s not the level of service you expect, especially when you’re hungry and just want to enjoy your meal. Later, a young man did come to apologize, which I appreciated. My recommendation would be to improve service efficiency and train staff to be more polite and attentive to guests. A little courtesy goes a long way!

Location was great, Staff weee friendly and helpful, room was spacious, clean and comfortable. And provided allergen friendly bedding and power adaptor upon request. Christmas dinner was excellent. The restaurant catered to some small changes requested prior to the dinner. Food quality and quantity was very tasty and satisfying. Well worth it for the special occasion.

As we arrived early we could not check in, but when we did we were no given the usual information that all others guests received. When asking about breakfast we were given the incorrect information and arrived shortly after breakfast service had ended. The breakfast was limited and not value for money. There never seemed like there was time for the staff to serve us, even though we gave allowance for the holiday season.

We loved our stay in Basel! The location of the hotel couldn’t be better and the team at the reception was super helpful and professional. Also a special thank you to Ms Raquel and colleagues for keeping our room in order and for their kindness. We loved our room, it was well equipped and comfortable. The Bohemia restaurant was beautifully decorated and the food was great.

I think the area in which there is room for improvement is at the Bohemia restaurant. We felt during breakfast it was a bit chaotic and space constrained. We struggled to get reservations for dinner (it would be best to give a heads up to the hotel guests to reserve upon arrival). There was also an instance in which, even though our breakfast was included, we were not allowed to enter. We arrived, then waited at the entrance to check-in for breakfast, and were told we had gone over the 10 o’clock limit. In fact, it was a few minutes before 10:00, plenty of people were still having breakfast inside, but we didn’t want to make the experience more negative, so we went out for breakfast. In summary, the staff at the restaurant was working hard but clearly a bit overwhelmed with the demand.

Nice rooms, completely renewed with a contemporary style in an historic building. They are big for a couple, with enough space to feel amplitude. Lot of room for clothes and baggage. Nice bathroom, with separated wc and shower. Really liked a lot our room. Staff was kindly. Also, the Bohemia restaurant is also a very good option. Lot of people not staying in the hotel, as it has good food, ambient and staff with a rasonable price.

Room was a bit colder for us, we come from southern Europe. Temperature can only be controlled +/- 2 celsius degrees over the stablished temperature by the hotel. We would like to have a wider control. Anyway, hotel provided a heater, so we could improve confort.

The staff were really helpful and just so friendly. We had a lovely warm welcome when we arrived and told where we could find everything. We had asked about Wickelfische's and they advised we could borrow some from the hotel at no extra cost. The place was immaculate and had the best scent when you walked through the entrance.

There wasn't anything in particular that we didn't like. If i had to pick one thing it would be the heat in the room at night, with the window open it was quite noisy with the trams passing by.
