We travel through France regularly and were only made aware of this hotel a couple of years ago. It has proved to be a quiet relaxing place after a day's travel with friendly staff only to eager to ensure your needs are met. We particularly enjoy the restaurant facilities for both an evening meal and breakfast. The restaurant is spacious and it is one of the few eating establishments where patrons do not feel to be on top of each other. The rooms are always clean spacious with contemporary feel. Just what we look for. The hotel grounds are extensive and great for a quiet walk. Even better when we travel with our dogs as there is somewhere to be able to exercise them without worrying about their safety or causing inconvenience to guests. Would not now stay anywhere else when in this part of France.

I am not able to currently think of anything to adversely critiicise.

We booked here at fairly short notice, we were originally staying in a place booked via Vrbo but just didn’t really settle there. The staff here were exceptional. So friendly and accommodating, even during busy periods. The rooms were very clean, bright and airy. Beds are huge but could have been a little more comfy, beds are of course down to personal preference and I prefer a bed that is fairly firm. The air-con works well and the room facilities more than adequate. We had breakfast and dinner twice during our three night stay. The food is very good with high quality and plenty of choice. Breakfast is a buffet which definitely caters to all tastes. Dinner was delicious and presented to a very high standard. Prices for both are very reasonable. There is an outdoor pool with seating and loungers surrounding. It is very clean and is a great place to relax. The bar and restaurant are by the pool and the bar staff will come and serve you whilst you are relaxing. Children are welcomed and there is a good selection of drinks and ice cream available all day. The hotel is surrounded by ‘park-like’ grounds and woodland. Pets were clearly welcomed. The Poitiers-Sud Centre Commerciale is a few minutes away but car and the city centre is around 10 minutes drive. This stay really rounded off what was a great holiday for us and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.

I don’t have massively high standards and this hotel exceeded our expectations. If anything, the water was a little slow to run away in the shower/bath due to the plug mechanism being stiff and naturally settling towards the closed position!!

The hotel insisted on taking a swipe of my credit card which, although the manager denied it, debited my account. When I came to pay the bill the next morning, the swipe was cancelled but not credited to my account. My account was debited at 5.00pm Friday evening and at 9.00pm Saturday the money has still not been recredited. In effect I have paid twice. The young lady on reception told us and some other guests that she has explained to her management what is happening but has so far been ignored. If I don't get my account recredited on Monday morning I will be making an official complaint. 😤 This has actually spoiled all the good things at the hotel which is a shame as the restaurant staff were excellent.

Fantastic hotel, well located for the motorway. We were greeted by Harpreet on reception who I must say, is one of the most friendly and helpful receptionists I have ever met. Best Western management, if you read this, cherish this girl she is a real credit to your organisation. We were travelling on motorbikes and the large parking area felt safe enough to leave our bikes. We were looking for a hotel to stay in the following night near Caen and Harpreet took all the stress out of finding one by contacting the Best Western "La Mar au Poisons" direct and immediately sorting two rooms for us at a very good rate, top marks! Great hotel, great breakfast, exceptional staff, I would highly recommend.

What's not to like!

The best asset to this property is its staff, particularly Favien (Fabien?) in the restaurant. He is the quintessential hospitality professional. His warmth is genuine and his efficiency ensures the best experience. Overall the location was perfect for us; beside the motorway and also a wooded area for beauty. The hotel is very reasonably priced. The basic room is simple and clean, meeting needs for a night or two. The restaurant has a beautiful outlook beside the pool and a park. The food was excellent. The mattress was comfortable, the linens and pillow of decent quality. Very importantly for us as digital nomads, the Wifi was fast.

Nothing. It was all very good.

A modern and very clean hotel. Good facilities, restaurant and bar. It is dog friendly and we could take them into the bar/restaurant and the grounds are extensive and great for exercising the dogs. We stayed in January and it was -4° so we didn’t get the chance to explore all of the grounds! The staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful. Our room was a bit small, but very clean and comfortable.

The cost for each dog is probably double what we have paid at other hotels (30€ each).

Extortionate price for one very small to stay in the room . 30 euros is really over charging. Have been travelling with my dog for many years and have stayed in many best western hotels- have never been charged so much. For this reason I won’t return to this particular hotel Food in the restaurant was also very costly for what it was

Nice and clean with very comfortable bed and pillows. Very close to the motorway. So great if you’re travelling onwards. Excellent if you have a dog due to all the walking areas surrounding the premises.

No bar which is a pity. We didn’t use the restaurant due to the menu being a bit extravagant. Nothing simple and quite expensive. Also the €30 for the dog is just a little bit steep compared to other places in France but I’ve stayed.

Location, parking right outside, big room, lovely comfortable king size bed. Big comfy pillows..Breakfast very good, plenty of everything. Good coffee (very important). Staff very welcoming and pleasant.

Unfortunately, the meal I had in the restaurant was awful.. fish & chips. The fish was cold with dark meat and the batter soggy. I couldn't eat it and refused to pay for it which was not disputed by staff. We have stayed here before and the meal in the restaurant was very good. In the room - TV could have been better if a good English language news channel was offered. The light in the bathroom was too low. A bathroom should have a brighter light. We would have preferred a walk-in shower- I should have asked for this, so my own fault. We both have mobility problems so it was a bit difficult getting in and out of the bath to shower. The hotel should have a bar close to reception area.

Convenient to motorway. Clean, good food.

Firstly the bar is advertised as open but after an extremely long journey we arrived at 4pm to be told the bar wasn’t open until 6pm! Two coffee sachets in room not enough. On my previous stay I said the buffet breakfast choices were good but hot food was luke warm I.e bacon, omelette etc. again on this stay nothing has changed. Hot food still luke warm. Disappointing. Cold meats and cheese are not my choices for breakfast.
