It was the most unusual and beautiful property in the shadows of historic caves. The host Philippe couldn’t have been more helpful and knowledgeable. A 20 minute walk to the beautiful old town, this has been truly such a lucky find - we will be back. Breakfast was served in the garden, and was explained by Philippe as to the various edible flowers and plants that adorned the lovely fruit, cheese, yogurt etc. A guided tour of the caves at the back of the garden was an extra treat in what can only be described as a two night memory.

The only down side was that weather was very hot and rooms were not air conditioned. Philippe did offer an electric fan, which made a huge difference. The stairs were quite steep to the bedrooms, if you did have any mobility issues, as was the fairly steep walk to the old village. Minor points that did not detract from the joy of our stay.

Beautiful, clean, authentic, good sized rooms, kitchen for guest use, within walking distance of the town. The host Philippe was a delight. So much love for his work. He had a huge amount of information about places to visit, including free museum tickets as we were there for more than 1 night, and places to eat. He makes his own jams, yogurts and cheese for breakfast, has eggs from his own chickens, the start to your day is wholesome, healthy and organic, carefully garnished with herbs and flowers picked from his garden. On check out we were presented with artisan soaps. We felt incredibly welcome and comfortable, and would most definitely recommend a stay here.

We recently spent two nights at Clos des Moulins, which was a delightful experience. The location is perfect—tucked away in a peaceful area yet just a short, scenic walk across the river to the city center. From the moment we arrived, we felt warmly welcomed. Philippe, the host was incredibly kind and attentive, ensuring we had everything we needed. Our room was spacious, impeccably clean, and beautifully maintained. Breakfast, as promised, was a real highlight—fresh, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious. Every detail felt thoughtful. Overall, we had a fantastic stay and would highly recommend Clos des Moulins to anyone visiting Poitiers. It’s a hidden gem that combines comfort, hospitality, and a perfect location. We would definitely love to return!

Clos des Moulins is wonderful b&b run with a level of personal attention that would be difficult to match. We loved being guests in Philippe's lovely home. The house is full of character, situated in a quiet area by the river, a pleasant 15 minute walk from the centre of Poitiers. Philippe puts such effort into amazing homemade organic breakfasts, containing many ingredients from his own garden. He was full of information about the city with lots of advice about restaurants and things to do and he very kindly and patiently helped us muddle through conversation in our beginner's French. Merci Philippe. Nous reviendrons sans aucune doute.

Absolutely nothing.

The breakfast was amazing. Mostly home produced and home made - cheesed aged in their caves and names of chickens who laid our eggs. Beautifully presented and plenty to eat. Easy and simply communications with Philippe via WhatsApp, which he initiated. He met us and guided us in to the house's car park which is secure. Philippe's welcome was very warm and he showed us round all the facilities, which included the lovely garden and shared kitchen/dining area, which was well equipped. Philippe's attention to detail. Not only was the breakfast lovely, but the range of teas and coffees provided was extensive and he'd prepared flavoured water using herbs from his garden. Even has been award environmental awards. Everything was thought of. The room and bathroom were very spacious and comfortable. It is in easy walking distance of Poitier centre and Philippe provided a good list of places to eat and a map. Very good value for money.

The bed was of the highest quality, providing a truly comfortable night’s sleep, and the bathroom was equally impressive, featuring modern amenities and elegant design. The attention to detail in the decor and overall ambiance was remarkable, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Our host was incredibly helpful and charming, going above and beyond to ensure we had a wonderful stay. And let’s not forget the breakfast—it was simply the best! A delightful spread that catered to every taste, it was the perfect way to start our day. If you’re looking for a top-notch experience, look no further! This place truly sets the standard for excellence.

Lovely house. Phillipe was great with communication, we managed to get parking. The breakfast was lovely with products from garden and local area. We were given a map and instructions about getting to the old town. Around 15 mins walk a pedestrian bridge with view to mill house and walk through gardens to old town. The b and bs garden was lovely and we were able to have a short your to see the caves at the back of the property.

Driving to the B&B along the river was lovely. Philippe is the perfect, welcoming host. His pre and on-site information is very helpful for being in Poitiers. The building has been restored to a high standard with obvious pride and attention to detail. The garden and falaises in the back are beautiful and captivating. Breakfast was spectacular and presented in such an aesthetically way. We felt privileged to stay here and met other travelers who felt the same. Highly recommended. If it is of concern to you - Philippe speaks perfect English and provides parking if requested.

We loved everything.

Clean, comfortable, nice big room well kept and designed. Phillipe,the host, was exceptionally welcoming and a great source of information. He provided a very high quality breakfast and explained where the organic components came from. Home made jam and marmalade and eggs from his hens beautifully presented with fresh bread, cheese and croissants. The property sits by a river nestled under a rock face with caves used in the past for habitation. Walking distance from the old town with its restaurants, historic sites and modern shopping. If we go back to Poitiers, this idyllic home will be our first choice to stay.

No negatives.

We only had a one night stay, but we couldn't have asked for a nicer host in Philippe and the comfort of the room. Secure parking was another bonus and the breakfast was absolutely amazing - so much choice and attention to detail, enhanced with flowers from the garden. We will definitely stay again when next in the area.

The only improvement would have been a fan in the room on what was a very warm night, but I'm really being overly picky here - overall an excellent place to stay with the perfect host.
