The hotel is in a converted church which provides attractive and unusual details in the bedrooms (mine had some slim, elegant columns). The dining room is vast, set in the area where the nave would have been. It provided good room service. There is a separate, pleasant, breakfast room. The hotel is right in the centre of the old town, close to several of the mediaeval architectural beauties and not far from the railway station. If you have come to see the Mediaeval buildings, check on what is fully open beforhand; some, such as the famous Romanesque church, are undergoing restoration.

My room was perfectly comfortable, and I love the uniqueness a conversion like this provides; a fresh coat of paint would make it even more enjoyable.

Really interesting building in a fantastic location. Our room was very pleasant and well equipped. The restaurant is superb and at lunchtime, an absolute bargain for the quality. And, unusually for France, very vegetarian friendly. Worth mentioning in particular are the staff. The welcome was superb - we arrived early and the receptionist went to see if there as a room ready we could have, which there was. And in the restaurant too, the service was exemplary. I would definitely return. Oh, and Poitiers is beautiful, compact city to walk around.

The hotel doesn't have parking but we parked in QPark Cordelier, which is about a 5 minute walk away and very easy to find. And, booking ahead, on the QPark website, it only cost €15,00 for 24 hours. So, all in all, not an issue at all.

At least in winter, it’s a centrally located, quiet location, 5 minutes from the main square, about 10 minutes from the station (but it’s a confusing exit—don’t walk down to street level; look for the walking bridge beyond the escalators). The staff were friendly, accommodating and helped with sight-seeing logistics. Breakfast was amazingly good, a lot of variety. The bed was so comfortable I slept 14 hours!

It’s not a dislike: some rooms have internal stairs (duplex). I don’t do well with stairs in the middle of the night. Fortunately, they switched me.

Small water boiler and coffee machine in room. Tea bags, coffee capsules, 1L water provided and refilled every day. Exceptional experience staying in a converted church. Staff very friendly. Rooms are quiet, windows can be opened. Very good restaurant and bar. Bus nearby, train station within walking distance.

Only 1 shelve in the "closet". There would be room for 1-2 more. A bit more storage space around the sink in the bathroom - maybe hooks/small shelves.

The Location of the hotel is in a walking distance from main attractions of Poitier but also from restaurants/bars etc. In a 5-7 walking distance from the central train station.

In a 4 star hotel they did not have slippers as is commonly given, and they have a policy on controlling the temperature of the room (they did not allowed me to abjust the temperature through air condition)

Room was clean and very comfortable however we were just a little disappointed the we were placed in an annex which was a touch concrete rather than the sumptuous converter church that was advertised. Nonetheless the hotel wad very good with a fabulous restaurant where the food and service elevated our stay to superb Good location in a quiet street but busy area with safe parking within a few minutes walking distance. Would stay here again for sure

Architecture, internal design , spaciousness, ambience, sense of history updated to high standards of modern comfort .Reception staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Spacious bedroom and bathroom- very comfortable bed.

The shower tray was very , very slippery- we were forced to put the bath mat in there to avoid falling - must have been a nightmare for the chambermaid to sort out. The restaurant was overpriced and over formal- lots of waiters running hither and thither but none asked if we wanted an aperitif and one or two subsequent requests were forgotten. The food was good but by no means outstanding. A case of style over substance! As for breakfast at 18 euros? We ate at a cafe round the corner and spied other Mercury guests doing the same, for 8 euros..And no proper TEA in the bedroom.

This hotel located in the former church, so it is an unique experience. Room is comfortable, we had a great view from the windows! There was no door to the bathroom, but it was not problem for us (toilet was separate and with door ). Restaurant is very good, I recommend to have a dinner there.

Breakfast is very basic.

Great location and staff really nice

Didn't like the fact there isn't anywhere to wash your hands after going to the toilet, you have to come out the cubical and cross the bedroom to the shower area to wash hands. Not very hygienic especially since your touching handles and light switches with unwashed hands.

Perfectly located in a quiet street but close enough to the centre. We had a split level room which was very quirky with the arches and layout and we were on the 4th floor with great views. Room probably not so ideal if you don't like steep stairs or low ceiling, Staff were exceptional and even though we didn't have any food, the menu prices were reasonable and the restaurant looked amazing and always busy at meal times.
