Beautiful property with great views of the city. The room was very comfortable and the size was great with good toiletries, bathrobes and slippers. The food in the restaurant was excellent with a great selection of wines and the service was very good. Onsite parking and also easy access to the Fourviere funicular which takes you downtown to all the shops and restaurants.

The reception staff are efficient though there could be some flexibility with check/in as the hotel was far from full but we had to wait for 2 hours until the designated check in time. Not very customer service oriented.

This beautifully restored former convent blends historic charm with modern design—stylish, serene, and thoughtfully done. The rooms were spacious, spotless, and quiet, with a minimalist aesthetic that still felt warm and comfortable. The staff were genuinely welcoming and eager to please. We especially enjoyed the garden, pool, and spa facilities, which offered a peaceful retreat after exploring the city. Access to Vieux Lyon was easy via the nearby funicular, making it a convenient base to explore the city.

During our July visit in a heatwave, the in-room air conditioning wasn’t quite as powerful as Americans might hope for, but it was adequate—especially after the staff quickly provided a portable fan that made a big difference.

The old convent is beautifully restored, keeping old architecture seamlessly blended with modern comforts. The most impressive reception I've ever seen (located in the old chapel). Great location above the city, with the funicular nearby for easy access to everything. The staff were incredible - so friendly and helpful, they made our stay so relaxing. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and clean. We ate 3 times at the hotel - lunch, supper, and bar food. Everything was delicious and beautifully presented - REALLY great food!!! There were lots of peaceful spaces to sit and relax, indoors and out, including the lavender strewn garden. I cannot fault this wonderful hotel - I enjoyed my stay so much and will definitely return.

The property was beautiful and the location excellent within walking distance to the Basilica and Roman Ampitheatre. The funicular into town is very close and convenient. The external surroundings of the hotel were great, particularly the pool area.

Prices in the bar and restaurant were very expensive compared to local restaurants and bars so we did not eat here. It would have been nice to have a meal but we just couldn’t justify the cost and the menu choice was very limited. We did share a small cheese platter one evening which was very good but cost €21.

the property is very nice, except the rooms are very plain. the food at the restaurant it is really good. the sauna room works very well.

the breakfast food could be better, especially the fried eggs and omelettes. the chairs are hard to move. there was no exercise room. the location is a bit isolated from the city center. we arrived late morning from an oversea flight, the room was not ready, even tough i stated I'll be arriving around 11:am. we left the property and came back and waited in the lobby (next to reception desk) for over an hour before check in time the 3:00PM check in time, to our surprise when asked for status they told us the room was ready. communication could have been better.

The hotel and its location was brilliant. It was beautiful and peaceful but so easy to get into Lyon on the funicular. Also on the doorstop of the basilica and the roman amphitheatre. It also had a pool, spa and we had a massage. The food was very special. Lyon is a great city with too much to do in 4 days.

Next time I would take up the offer of a kettle and ask for milk. The nespresso was too strong for me. My Mum would have liked more information in the room, such as how to work the nespresso ! oh and that the pool was open. We assumed not but it appears you had to ask for the cover to be taken off.

The property was very well thought out. As a former seminary things felt like a school .. even the pencils rather than pens in the room and the CHAT! signs instead of do not disturb for the doors. Rooms were huge. I hadn't brought a bathing suit.

I wish you offered an a la carte breakfast menu. There were not many other eateries around the hilltop. You apparently had a brochure about the history of the property. It was only in French (English would have been better for me) but in any case they were out of stock. I thought it was odd that the front desk hosted us to our elevator but there was no help with getting the luggage to the room. Although they did preface by saying I will show you the way .... not let me help you with your bags.

Absolutely loved our stay at the Fourvière Hotel in Lyon! The history of the building adds real charm, and the location is perfect for exploring the city. Being able to pre-book and charge the car was a huge bonus. Spotlessly clean, with brilliant staff who couldn’t do enough for us. And the evening meal? Absolutely scrumptious – one of the best we’ve had in France. Highly recommend!

Honestly, we can’t think of a single thing we didn’t like. Everything ran smoothly, the setting was beautiful, and the service was faultless. A rare experience where nothing disappointed!

- The hotel seems to be an old monastery based on its location and design - The rooms are big - Restaurant on site with a beautiful garden view and friendly staff - The hotel is relatively small, even if it's at its 100% capacity it's not crowded. - Great drinks at the bar - Friendly staff - Gorgeous lobby with a modern look throughout the hotel - Biggest garden in a hotel around the area, it gives castle vibes. - 10 minute walk from the Basilica of Notre Dame - I went during winter and it was cloudy, but the view must be spectacular in other seasons

- Individual beds are super small, smaller than usual in comparison to other hotels - Not close to downtown, it requires two transfers after a 10 minute walk, taxis/uber is a 13-20 Euros trip on way, and they charge 15+ Euros per day for car parking (Safe area tho parking area) - The sauna/jacuzzi location is on the main floor beside the restaurant, and in front of the bar AND there are no changing rooms, so I had to walk by naked butt under the robe through two floors and in front of the restaurants (restaurants have glass door/walls. It is a very inconvenient location to be walking around with slippers and a white robe while people are arriving at the hotel or eating.

Fabulous location for me but be warned it is not for people who want to explore the town but can't manage hills or stairs. The building is wonderful but the rooms are a little 'convent-like.' Very simple and no fridge or kettle but totally adequate other than that. Breakfast is great.

My shower never heated up - which I thought was taking the convent experience to another level! Seriously though, they said it had happened in a couple of rooms and seems like a pretty big oops for a high end hotel. Would have been even worse in the dead of winter. Ordered some pome frites (fries) at the bar and they were so loaded in salt they were inedible. Aside from those things I really loved the place.
