The College Hotel was very clean and comfortable, it had a good bed, and a good, big shower with lots of hot water and water pressure. We were there for three very hot days in Lyon and the air conditioning was quiet and just the right level of cool. The staff were cheery and helpful. The roof terrace was a relaxing place to wind down. The decor in the various public spaces was quirky and tasteful. We did not eat at the hotel so I can’t comment on that, but the hotel is so well situated, right in the heart of Old Lyon, close to good restaurants, boulangeries, right next to a main bus route that gets you into the rest of Lyon. We were extremely happy with our choice of the College Hotel.

The hallways are a bit dark and featureless with some signs of wear and tear and could do with sprucing up, but this didn’t affect our overall positive feeling for the hotel.

Very good location, at the heart of Vieux Lyon, so we used only our feet during our stay. We were lucky to have one of the rooms with direct access to the beautiful 2nd floor terrace. The breakfast was full of bio & homemade delicacies, lots of local flavors (cheeses, breads, jams…) and very kind personnel. The breakfast was offered until late and the room felt very cozy.

The parking was not available so we had to use one of the city’s underground ones where the cost was quite high. Unfortunately the terrace was not in use all evenings. You could visit it but there were no drinks or food offered all days, which was a pity.

The location in old town was excellent. Easy to get around and walkable. The staff were pleasant & helpful. Breakfast was very good with lots of variety.

The AC did not work in our room. I asked the front desk and their response was “it’s on” but it wasn’t. By the time I heard we could change rooms it was too late in the day. Opening the doors to outside wasn’t as option because the cigarette smoke was overwhelming. Need to think about moving the smokers away from the patio. Hard with allergies.

The College Hotel offers a fantastic experience that blends comfort, convenience, and excellent service. The location is unbeatable, putting you close to everything you need, making it easy to explore the area. The rooms are cozy with comfortable bedding that ensures a great night's sleep. What truly sets this hotel apart is the staff—they are incredibly accommodating, always going above and beyond to make your stay enjoyable. The onsite parking is a huge plus, though it's worth noting that you should reserve your spot in advance due to limited availability. Breakfast at the hotel is delightful, offering a great start to the day. Evenings on the terrace were a highlight—relaxing and enjoyable, with a lovely ambiance. Overall, I highly recommend The College Hotel and will definitely be staying here again.

Parking can be right if you have a big car.

Hotel is well located in the Vieux Lyon area. Close to key transport buses so easy to travel to main Lyon train station or other key city sites. Staff were friendly and helpful. Buffet breakfast was good. Room was very clean and bathroom modern. Plugs readying positioned to recharge phones etc. Still and sparkling water refill available for free in the foyer. Quirky themed hotel - it was once a school.

Room was small so we had difficulty managing two suitcases of clothes. Only one small suitcase stand provided. It wouldn’t fit a shell suitcase either. The bed was very firm. No fridge in the room. Ask for milk if you need it for tea in your room.

It's located right in the old Lyon. You can walk all the way up to Notre-Dame de Fourvière and all the old streets. You can also walk easily to the city centre. There's a train station right next to the hotel, although I have no idea where the line takes you. If you don't like walking, there are trams not far, just across the river. The decor is very quirky and unique. The shower was great. I absolutely loved the terrace. You can even bring your own food, providing you get some drinks.

There's nothing I didn't like but I felt that for the price, the breakfast could be slightly improved. For instance when a guest gives advanced warning about an allergy or strong intolerance, saying, you can still eat this or that, is not good enough. You need to find a solution so that the choices are still plentiful.

The staff are very welcoming, have fantastic recommendations and are more than happy to help! The rooms are spacious and beautifully clean, air con ensures that they are kept at a nice temperature too. There's free mineral and sparkling water down at reception which is a nice touch too. The roof terrace is a lovely place to relax too, would definitely recommend! You also get a 10% discount at a local cocktail bar which was an added bonus as well as the central location!

The only slight drawback was that the doorstop in the bathroom was relatively close to where the shower was and quite painful if stood on by accident!

The location of this hotel was perfect in the heart of old town Lyon. There were many restaurants around the hotel to enjoy, and it was very easy to get to the metro/train from the hotel. The staff were amazing and very helpful when asked questions. They also allowed us to store our bags when our train was delayed which gave us a chance to explore more of the city.

Unfortunately, the shower situation was not the best as there was no barrier between the shower area and the rest of the bathroom. This meant that a shower would get the entire bathroom floor wet and it would be unsafe to walk around in. We had to use towels to dry off the floor in order to use the bathroom afterwards. Even a small barrier would make a big difference and would have made the stay perfect. Regardless, I still highly recommend this hotel.

I stayed at this hotel for two nights. The location is great, close to many tourist attractions and public transport. Easy to reach many iconic sites on foot. The staff was very friendly and always helpful. The hotel's atmosphere is very cool, like a trip back in time, and even the rooms follow this pattern. The rooms have the same theme as the entire hotel and were comfortable. Good breakfast, with organic and good quality options. There was always good drinking water available. Very beautiful terrace. It was good to see that they take a lot of environmental care.

The rooms are comfortable, but the beds are a little small and the space in the room could be better utilized. Little variety of breakfast option. It would be great if there was more options, like sweets or hot food.

The location in old city nearby restaurants, market, miniature museum, traboules and hop on hop off bus stop (called Vieux Lyon), metro/funicular etc is unbeatable. Very comfortable with school theme including classrooms:)) we asked for rooms next to eachother and I recommend undergraduate rooms 11 and 12 for families that need 2 rooms because u can lock the shared hallway and keep the room doors open (see photo). Graduate rooms are the top floors and have nice views of the city. Breakfast was extra-I think 19 euros per person. Not a huge buffet but adequate and everything pastries, cheese, tangerines, etc tasted delicious and we ate breakfast at the hotel. Clean, comfortable and kid-friendly.

The staff is very friendly and willing to help but I wish they were more knowledgeable for tourist questions.
