Nicely appointed modern 4 star hotel in historic building. Feels, and probably is, fresh and new. Large room with excellent bathroom. For its category, it was ok if sparsely furnished, which had the positive side-effect of making it feel even bigger. Good if somewhat impersonal restaurant (in a town crammed with options) and friendly staff. The hotel is well situated for motorway access yet a few short minutes walk from the bustling town centre and a beautiful park. There is no reception in the conventional sense but the actual reception staff (who do it all on mobile phones) were good and friendly.

Not much other than a general lack of any specific character, especially so in the (otherwise pretty good) restaurant.

This is a gorgeous hotel with a parking attached. Our room was large with a lovely view. The wardrobe in the middle of the room was a bit weird. The bathroom was beautiful. The dining room was fully booked so we didn't try dinner but breakfast was excellent.

This stay was totally spoilt by the fact that reception took a payment on arrival for sundries of 150 euros on top of the cost of the room. When we queried it we were told that all Accor hotels did that. This amount came out of our account immediately. The following morning, we had to pay again as reception said that no payment had been made, it was just pending. It took 5 days to sort out with our bank when we got back to the UK. We had tried to sort this out direct with the hotel without any success. Never going to another Accor hotel ever again

Very smart and well appointed hotel in a lovely old historic building. Smiling staff and exceptionally clean and quiet throughout. A good amount of car parking space and great breakfast buffet options. The bedrooms are large with a separate area upon entering to keep luggage out the way. It all feels quite high end. Our room overlooked a small park with a view of more old buildings through the trees. It was wonderful to hear the birds chirping away with our windows wide open! The location is excellent, being just a short walk into the start of the older parts of town. Make sure you don't miss out on walking down to the river in the evening. The stone bridges are nicely lit up and there's a church on it's own island which is beautifully illuminated. It's also a hang out for the young dudes, with a lovely friendly atmosphere. Restaurants are plentiful and we had great meals in the town. It's nice to sit outside people watching while sipping on a glass of great French wine. Lastly, it's impossible not to mention the cathedral. It is simply awe inspiring. Don't miss it - but then again you never would if you were there!

Everything was excellent. The reception staff were very friendly and most welcoming indeed. The room was very big and the beds very comfy with a choice of 2 different pillows. The bathroom was modern and very good. There was a most welcome fridge and a Nespresso machine. Whilst very modern, the hotel retained its "Citadelle" character. The location of the hotel is excellent for walking around the beautiful city centre with a 15mins walk to the cathedral and a 25 mins walk to the Port des Allemandes.

There is nothing to fault this Hotel.

Excellent location and lovely gentleman at the lobby reception.

Breakfast quality and selection was poor and service staff not enough. Attention to detail on the room could be improved as some items not refilled daily.

Large room size, excellent room & bathroom facilities, quiet hotel with on-site parking. Loved being close to the centre of Metz, 10-15 walk from central attractions like the amazing cathedral and brilliant museum.

I was disappointed with the breakfast. Food choices were typically fine but a strange way of rationing hot drinks. Bitter, awful coffee served lukewarm from flasks, so cold by the time you’ve collected your food. Water for tea provided in Japanese-style cast iron pots but lukewarm and insufficient for two cups.

It is a beautiful property; large hip dining area; elevator(!); a decent walk (but not far) from Old town and the train station. It is located across from a lovely park and the windows open so it was nice to have a quiet street and fresh air. Really huge room and bathroom! WC separate. Having robes was were really nice.

The room was pretty beat up. It definitely needs a coat of paint and fresh furniture. It was all banged and nicked, even the bathroom counter needs replacing. Even with that, it was clean and a stunning room and we were mighty happy to have a large room after weeks in Europe!

The property does not disappoint. Its quiet outside, the park is nice… there always seems to be a conference or such going on so be aware of that if you don’t like a lot of bustle.

We stay at the Citadelle every time we come to Metz because we love the property. What we don’t love is the reception. They are condescending, completely confused on the concept of 4* treatment. Poorly trained I guess…they’d do well to be reminded that without their guests there would be no job.

Beautiful property. Should be Five Stars. Lovely room. 99% of staff were great. Great location.

We do speak a little German but not a lot. At dinner we struggled a little with with the menu. Staff would go a check the English translation as we did as well. Finally after 3 or 4 go arounds. They went and got an English version of the menu ! They had an English version all along, not sure why they didn’t offer up front other than they seemed rather abrupt when we checked into the restaurant. Aside from the service the food was very good.

The location was great. The history around it was so interesting. The property was attractive in some areas. The room had lots of natural light. The cleaning staff were very kind and thoughtful.

The bed was terribly hard, much like sleeping on the floor. The furniture was dingy and had chips and dings. The lamps were crooked. We had to fix the shower to make it work. The front desk staff were disinterested and seemed bothered if you asked for directions. Since we spoke French to them it was not a language issue. For the price and a four star it was a bit disappointing.
