The hotel location can't be beaten - right on the Moselle River through the middle of Metz, and across the river from the historic city centre and the Metz Catherdral square. The hotel is in a historic building, with all the quirks that come with a building like this - no built in furniture or storage, all free standing. The room was quiet and the bed (very!) comfortable, however it should be noted that the bathroom while clean, was dated. We felt that the Hotel Du Theatre was very good value, especially with the included parking! (see below!)

The carpark is not operated by the hotel, and is an underground space under a separate old building. So the entrance is extremely tight, as are the ramps up and down to the various levels. Once down, the spaces are of a decent side for small and medium cars. Large cars (i.e. BMW 5-Series size) will have a challenge navigating the carpark, and you can pretty much forget about large SUVs or vans.

The room was as we expected, having stayed here before. The staff were extremely helpful, especially when we asked to stay another night at the last minute. The location is ideal, very near to the city amenities. The breakfast was good, providing everything we needed.

There are a lot of small repairs needed, to switches, squeaking doors, toilet flushes etc. These did not affect our stay, but they are reaching the state where the hotel appears to be in need of renovation.

A romantic hotel at few minutes walk from the centre of Metz with free parking and very friendly and helpful staff. The rooms were clean and towels were changed every day. Connection to Internet was good and secure. Our room had coffee and tea and a fridge available. The building of the hotel is classic and traditional. We didn't have time to use the swimming pool. Close to the hotel is a Michelin (3 star) restaurant, El Théatris Restaurant with excellent food.

Shaving was a challenge for me as the lights in the bathroom were insufficient for this purpose and there was no magnifying mirror present.

The charm and character of this hotel is simply stunning, the ground floor is perfectly presented and is a delight to be in. Our room had clearly been refurbished very recently and, as such, was stunning! The room was genuinely the nicest hotel room I have ever stayed in. Free use of a local car park was a big bonus too!

As the car park does not belong to the hotel it is understandable that the hotel do not maintain it, as such, the journey from the car park via the lift feels quite grim. This should not reflect negatively on the hotel at all.

We had a superior room, on a corner, with windows to 2 walls. The room was large, with room for 2 comfortable easy chairs as well as the bed and desk. A kettle was available for making drinks. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. There was no noise from the street outside. The breakfast was good, with plenty of choice. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The underground car park was very convenient, with a door leading to a lift up to the hotel. An added bonus was that the free parking ticket provided by the hotel could be used at any time on the day of checkout, so giving time for a further look around the town without moving the car. We will certainly use this hotel again.

The car park was spooky, a bit like the Mines of Moria, without the Orcs (probably). The corridor outside the room was a bit pongy, like old buildings often are.

Taking into account the price, everything was great. Check-in is at 15.00 sharp, not earlier. They accept dogs for additional payment. Swimming pool was open and available for guests. Rooms are a bit old but clean. Parking was really good (underground) and free for the guests.

Parking in the car park, you would struggle in a big car. Also no instructions on how to get to the main hotel from the lift. We came out in a completely different part of the building. Dark corridors and no signage so it was a bit intimidating.

The building is old and would benefit from refurbishing but the space and the location are amazing. The room was clean and the bed was big and comfortable. The room was very big, had a lovely sitting area, a coffee machine and a kettle with selection of teas.

Signs of wear and tear, so an upgrade of the rooms would be good.

Great location just 5 minutes walk from the centre. Free parking saved us €16 per day. We had a large room with table and chairs. Plenty of storage. The hotel was extremely clean.

The hotel is dated and a little worn. The area between the hotel's rear entrance and the car park was full of litter.

Beautiful location -- but the location was also a bit of a problem. The views were great, but located on a busy street, and because there is no A/C -- you'll need the windows open on a hot evening and night -- so the noise and constant stream of cars and motorcycles is a bit much. If you can keep the window shut, it's not a problem. Free parking is a great thing too.

The room could benefit from a small a/c unit or at least a fan. Other than that, the room itself was great and the staff were very nice.
