Love this hotel. Second time I've stayed here. The fact that cause célèbre writers Jean Paul Satre and Simone de Beauvoir lived in this hotel gives it such gravitas. The fact that this wonderful hotel is located right across the street from the lovely Montparnasse cemetery just adds more charm to the entire experience. Great location, excellent breakfast, plenty of extras little goodies like housemade mint lemonade and mini croissants in the afternoon. And did I mention the welcome plate of macarons & a personalized handwritten note upon arrival? How thoughtful is that?
Most of the staff is amazing. A few of the staff seem more interested in their phones than making an effort to be attentive. The very least the desk host could have wished me a 'bon voyage' when I left. Something. I didn't love the view of the neighbor across the street sitting in his underwear.

Great location. Non-touristy area, but with easy access to the sights and lights. Good local restaurants, too. Especially Zama on Rue Daguerre nearby. Excellent what we used to call middle eastern cuisine, plus pizza. Been eating this food around the world for 60 years and this was the best. Decent breakfast, less than I would have expected, for the price, honestly, but Paris Prices? More on that later. Tiny rooms, but typical. Very lovely staff allowed us to check in early and made our 48 hours in Paris incomparably better.
What equals value for money for the Parisian visitor in the summer of 2025? Absolutely nothing. Comparatively, this is good value, but the city is set up to rip off the tourist—and the resident, just like NYC, where I’m from. Nice hotel, you’d be lucky to stay there. But Paris? Avoid unless you must not.

The Hotel Mistral has a significant place in history as the home for several years of Jean Paul Sartre and Simone de Beauvoir. The interior has been completely renovated so the rooms are modern, bright, and cheery. We found the guestrooms very comfortable, quiet, and clean. The location too is excellent, with a great array of good restaurants right nearby and metro and Montparnasse train station just a couple of blocks away.
The only complaint: no curtain or door on the shower so the bathroom floor was soaked. But the water pressure was great. Plenty of hot water. And the air conditioning worked (needed during a heatwave).

I really liked the fact of nice breakfast including warm food, luggage room and very nice location. It was perfect if you intend to use public transport - two metro lines really close, metro B to airport also with walking distance, train to Versailles close as well. The hotel had nice free WiFi and the cleaning was daily. The check out and check in hours were very convenient. I would recommend the hotel to a couple for city break in Paris. It is a great option in this hotel class.
The room was fine, little small but this is standard in Paris.

We had a very pleasant stay on a dreary, rain soaked day. The warm welcome and bed were just what we needed. What went beyond our expectations was the wonderful breakfast. We recommend taking advantage of the breakfast offer. In addition to the usual congenital offerings there were also scrambled eggs. They had good yogurt, granola and a wide variety of breads and rolls. The room was tidy, warm and the bed quite comfortable. This hotel is on a quiet street and we had no trouble with noise. The staff were extremely kind at reception and in the breakfast room. I also think you can get a glass of wine, beer or a mixed drink in the evening. Because this is a short walk from the Montparnasse train station, it a convenient location if you are passing through. We will stay again.

The breakfast was excellent, the staff very helpful and had a good knowledge of English. We were offered an upgrade on arrival, a pleasant surprise indeed. The air conditioning was needed as we were in a heat wave. Lastly the location was ideal with good connections, especially via the Metro. Excellent restaurants in this area.
Couldn't work out how to use the coffee machine in the room, as no instructions. Not a real problem though.

The staff is friendly and always ready to help, the location is very convenient and close to the metropolitan, the bus stop is a couple of steps around the corner. There's filtered water free of charge at the reception desk, also croissants and tea bags. There's a kettle in the room and a small fridge. The breakfast was really nice, the only thing that I missed were veggies (but maybe I just didn't find them). Orange fresh juice was always there, lots of different bread and cheese too ☺️

It has been truly a wonderful experience staying at this charming and cosy hotel with wonderful history behind it. The staff couldn't be more welcoming and courteous, the room was very light and clean. The location is just perfect - lot's of delicious food around - the place appears bustling but at the same time lots of quite streets. Access to public transport is excellent. I will definitely stay here again! Thank you!

The location was great -- walked everywhere; but the staff were fantastic and super friendly. One front desk lady had written wonderful user notes. The breakfast attendant was so welcoming that we literally danced! Even our room cleaner was deeply professional in protecting our security.
The bathroom was a bit tight but the pivoting glass wall helped contain the shower. I might have preferred a shower curtain. But everything was immaculate every day.

We've stayed at this very charming simple hotel before as it's close to Gare Montparnasse. This time they gave us a free room upgrade, to a lovely room with cross-ventilation from front to back of the building. Staff are charming, breakfast is excellent and can be taken in the leafy rear courtyards, beds were comfy and wifi excellent. Plus, the neighbourhood is very interesting and lively though the hotel itself is on a quiet street.
