Peter met us at arrival & departure. Gave many helpful advices and took care of us during stay. Spacious and simple- all worked effectively. Amazing breakfast, using local produce. Peter, Saskia and their daughter are great team at breakfast. Cleaning staff are so friendly and efficient, cleaned promptly each day. The hotel is next to Heidelberg University, we enjoyed visiting the main building -full of ancient exhibitions.

Breakfast was a fantastic German style breakfast with all fresh ingredients -bread, homemade jam, meats/cheese, muesli, yogurt, juice plus scrambled eggs! Delicious!! Host was superb-knowledgeable and welcoming. The hotel is also in the perfect location in relation to visiting sites in Heidelberg. Remember there is no air conditioning as a rule. This was not a surprise to me as I lived in Germany many years ago. I simply opened the windows.

Nothing I didn’t like. I like the charm of German type rooms/furniture.

Arrived Wed 4 Sep for 2 nights. Parking available right outside entrance. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. The room was very large with sofas and chairs as well as a very comfortable bed. Overlooking the street but not too much noise. Breakfast brought to the table rather than a buffet. Excellent choice, everything one could want. About 20 min walk down pedestrian shopping street to Altstadt for pubs breweries and Schloss. Great value for this part of the city.

An amazing breakfast with so much choise that it hardly fitted on the table, very gracefully served at the table by the extremely kind host, who was happy and the perfect host.. absolutely top marks for the service level in the hotel, and it is perfectly situated close to the old city and next to an amazing italian restaurant, which is also highly recommended. Excellent service on all levels, very nice and spotless room and helpful staff, which also helped with a call for a taxi, when we had to leave. Highly recommended and we would love to come back to lovely Heidelberg again... thanks a lot...

Nothing to complain about..

10 out of 10 fantastic service & rooms. Our family had 3 rooms here for the Christmas Markets and all 3 rooms were unique and fabulous - truly original, comfortable and spacious. Some had patios or a separate sitting room as well, which were nice surprises! The owners were a total joy - so helpful and friendly, and they make a homemade breakfast that is exceptional. It had the warm atmosphere of a B&B with rooms at a luxury hotel. I will always stay here during future visits!

I liked everything

The vegan breakfast that i had requested and that hotel proprietor Peter served me was fantastically good, showing great consideration, variety and quality. It was more like a sumptuous, delicious two-course brunch than a mere breakfast! Great job-- and thank you for such a nourishing start to my last day in Europe on Aug 31, 2023! I love the old-world charm of the hotel's interior and exterior, the high-ceiling room, the extremely close location to Heidelberg's amazingly lush forest on the south side (the trailhead begins just 25 meters away, past the tunnel), and the proximity to the southwest section of Old Town. I loved my room 18's teal green colored furniture, and the big trees right outside my bedroom and bathroom windows-- it felt like staying right at the edge of the forest.

Huge spacious room in a great location. The staff were incredibly friendly. It was convenient to have parking on site.

There were some hairs on the bed upon arrival. It seemed like the duvet covers and pillow cases collect fuzz and hair, so while I’m sure they were washed, they seemed unclean. There were also a couple spiders in the room.

An excellent and abundant breakfast is one of the things I liked best about the Hotel Anlage; another appealing feature is the very friendly and helpful staff.

I would have appreciated an extra towel or two in the bathroom, and I couldn't figure out how the TV channels listed in the guide matched up with the actual channels, but these are minor points.

The staff were incredibly kind and bent over backwards to make my visit successful. They were ambassadors for Heidelberg, not just the folks making sure that I had clean towels.

It could have been a longer stay! Be prepared, Americans, that AC is not as ubiquitous as back home. I expected that, but I could see the lack of AC being a nasty surprise if you're used to being ice-cold in July.

The staff were incredibly helpful and welcoming. I was in the area to hike, and the owner gave me some tips on where to start my hike, as it had rained the day before. The breakfast was excellent and well worth the money. The facilities and room were quite standard and nothing out of the ordinary, but the staff made the experience unexpectedly great.
