What a superb hostel! Cozy, clean, comfortable, filled with adorable little personal touches of decoration — pink curtains in the bathroom, photos and little posters all over the walls, a mini courtyard/terrace with a bench surrounded by flowers — it really felt like staying in someone's cozy, old-fashioned home. The private female bathroom was spacious, the body wash they provided smelled heavenly, the communal kitchen was sparkling clean and really well equipped, and the coffee at breakfast was complimentary. :)
Nothing! I loved everything about my stay.

My lovely host was absolutely amazing — the kind of person who makes you wish you could stay longer in the city. It’s not every day that you arrive in a completely unfamiliar place and instantly feel at home. I was warmly welcomed, and my host shared tons of wonderful tips to make the most of my short visit. They had already provided step-by-step, detailed instructions for using public transportation — such a precious touch that I wish more places offered. The decoration and atmosphere of the home were equally heartwarming: super cozy, beautifully done, and filled with warmth. A lovely place with even lovelier hosts. I can’t wait to come back.
The price, compared to other cities in Germany, was much higher, but I guess each place is different.

The location of this hostel is great. Right in old town close to both the castle and the shopping street with lots of bars/restaurants around. It is also close to a bus stop. The venue is spacious but cozy with two well equipped kitchens and enough shared toilets/showers, all very clean. The hosts were super friendly and accommodating! Even some milk and cereals are provided for breakfast. We had a double room and it was big enough. It was very hot outside, but inside the room temperature was fine. There is also a fan that can be used in those cases.
Nothing really! Maybe just good to know that our bed was a bit low, so that might be something to take into account for elderly people when staying here.

I felt at home as soon as I entered. Everything in the property has a thoughtful, personal touch, which makes a real difference. I also loved the explanatory labels on the coffee machine and other shared items. It was great hanging out in the living room and talking to people from all over the world while having my free breakfast cereal and coffee. The bathrooms were always clean and there was also a private female bathroom right opposite my dorm. The owner and the two members of staff I met were all super-friendly. It was a joy spending time there and I will 100% stay at Lotte's again when I next visit Heidelberg! Lotte rules :-)

Every little thing has been thought of at this beautiful hostel. The staff are so friendly and welcoming (Ina was brilliant) and are totally ‘on it’ constantly checking to ensure things are clean/tidy/well stocked. Lots of real personal touches like the maps in the living area. It’s got a lovely homely feel which, when one is travelling solo makes all the difference. Beds comfy, everything very clean. Lovely addition of a female only bathroom which is great. Lovely free cereals, tea milk etc for breakfast needs. Great location easy access to just about everything!!!
Honestly, couldn’t fault it! It was warm when I stayed and i was worried about sleeping in the heat. But with the windows open and a fan, I was lovely and comfortable at night

The staff were so lovely! My friend and o arrived in the late afternoon and we were welcomed by a tired but still really lovely girl - who straight away gave us a little map and recommendations of Heidelberg’s Altstadt. The Kistchen and living room facilities were also awesome, with spices and free cereal and coffee to take. They also had this system where all food from previous travelers went into a little container so others could use it and not waste it. Very cool for saving money for those coming after, and awesome for wastage prevention🙌🏼 Place was super clean too- there was a cleaner who I saw cleaning the Heathrow’s everyday and also would attend the kitchen making sure it was all tidy throughout the day. Location was great too, the hostel was basically at the bottom of the hill to walk up to castle and right in the Altstadt, so access to bars and restaurants was super super easy by foot.

This hostel was fantastic. We don't stay in hostels often because we find them to be generally lacking in comfort and amenities but Lotte went above and beyond. The staff were friendly and responsive. The room was clean and comfortable. The lounge area was cozy. There was plenty of tea, cereal, and both regular and oat milk in both kitchens and both kitchens were well stocked with equipment to prepare a meal. We recommend Room #8 if you're staying in one of the double rooms, it's set a bit away from the rest of the hostel so you feel like you have the place to yourself but can go down into the lounge if you are looking to socialize. Would definitely recommend this hostel to anyone looking for a place in Heidelberg.
The only downside was that the wifi didn't really work in Room #8 I think because it was further away from the router than other rooms/spaces.

I loved everything about my stay here. You are just about as close to the castle as you can be, but still in town so you can go to the supermarket, local restaurants, and the Christmas market if you’re there November-December. The hostel was very cute, the rooms had only 5-6 people each which was nice and quiet, and the mattresses were perfect. The bathrooms are clean and large and I had great experiences showering there - even though lots of people were in the hostel I felt like I had a lot of privacy. The kitchen was well-stocked with coffee and cereal, too! Great benefit. The lady who checked me in, Carmen, was so nice and helpful. 10/10 would stay again.
Nothing!

The place is very close to the Rathaus Bergbahn bus stop in old town. Main street is about 300 m away and easy to walk up to. Easy to find restaurants, supermarkets, pharmacy on the main street. The staff are really helpful and make sure to tell you how to go about everything. The room (I stayed in the 6 bed mixed dorm) was clean and spacious. I travelled with a big bag and there was enough space to leave my bag on the floor near the bed and take things from it. There was a table to study or work in the room and a table fan if you felt hot. Everyone was given a key and it was easy to get in or out. The common bathroom has 2 wash basins, 3 showers and 2 toilets which are all kept clean. The kitchen has almost everything one can think of like kettle, stove, utensils, coffee machine, refrigerator, etc. There was also free milk (regular and vegan) and breakfast cereal. I was able to access the washing machine as well for a small fee.
The toilets should have a hook or place to hang your clothes

The location is excellent, on a cobbled street just at the foot of the castle hill and opposite to the bergbahnen station. At the same time it is close to the city centre, restaurants and pubs, the University and the riverside. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The building itself is a remodelled home, with a cozy sitting and kitchen area. Kitchen was well-equipped with several food items. The bathrooms and toilets were clean with sufficient space. There was an additional bath-toilet besides the communal one - all well decorated with appliances. The bunk-bed room has enough open space, place to store small amount of stuff at the bedside, a cloth hanger, table and chairs, large windows. Though close to main areas there wasn't too much noise. I loved the cheeky stickers, old postcards and fun sayings on the bath and kitchen doors/walls - speaks volumes about the cultural and witty personalities of the owners. Don't forget to read Madam Lotte's story once you are there!
I loved almost everything except that the shower cubicle in the additional bath had some water-clogging - but I am sure it was just a temporary problem.
