The welcome from reception was very warm. They broadly respected my desire to speak German. We are very familiar with Heidelberg, so did not need much guidance. The room was a good size and with three windows, it had great views across the river and across to Philosopher's Way on the opposite bank. Breakfast was excellent. It looks like there is a dedicated member of staff looking after it, and she was helpful and friendly. The hotel is very conveniently situated, being near the centre of town, and on a bus route direct to the Main Railway Station. I have attached to this review the views from two of the three windows in the room.

I might say two things. Firstly, reception is not manned all the time. The hotel is quite small, and I guess they cannot justify the cost. But, if you arrive later, make sure you have a plan. Secondly, being near a bus stop where buses run late, our room, at least, was subject to noise from revellers. I will balance this by saying I would be happy to have that room again.

I had a wonderful stay at this boutique hotel in Heidelberg. The location is ideal—easy to reach by public transport and within walking distance of the old town, main sights, and nearby hiking trails. The staff were friendly and accommodating, and I really appreciated being able to check in a bit earlier than the standard time. My room (Room 43 on the top floor) was clean, cozy, and full of character. The slanted ceiling wasn’t an issue for me (I’m on the shorter side), and I actually loved the charm it added. One of my favorite features was the slanted window above the bed—I could open it upward and take in a lovely view of the castle right from my room. Breakfast was served in the cellar and had a nice variety. It was a pleasant and peaceful way to start the day. Highly recommend this place—I'd definitely stay again!

We had the most wonderful time at Villa Marstall! The hotel is perfectly located, in the heart of the picturesque Altstadt, close to a range of wonderful restaurants, shops and attractions, right next to the Neckar river and within walking distance of the train station. The room was perfect: clean, functional, with excellent soundproofing, and larger than expected from the photographs. Breakfast in the cellar was just excellent, with a good range of delectable breads, fruits, cheese, cold meats and the most wonderful homemade jam and cakes. Will definitely stay at Villa Marstall again when visiting Heidelberg!

Everything met or exceeded expectations. We had no complaints at all.

Super location for the Old town, Xmas markets, castle etc. We have stayed here before and it was just as great as last time. Staff very helpful and friendly. Rooms spotlessly clean and comfy. Great for a short stay.

The location was perfect, right next to the river and one block away from the main street in the old town. Rooms were beautifully furnished with high ceilings - very romantic. Bathroom was nice and modern. Staff was super helpful and very responsive and helped my partner check in before me since my flight was delayed.

A/C could have been a bit stronger, but we visited when temps were 33-34C (92F+). They did have a standing fan in the room prior to our arrival which helped.

Beautiful city and hotel was in a perfect location. Breakfast in cellar was exceptional and the receptionist extra helpful, especially dealing with the luggage we had lost when flying into Stuttgart from Mexico.

The area was suffering from a heatwave so we asked for a sheet rather than the light duvets. I do think all hotels should provide a top sheet in the European summer.

Wonderful location, very clean and very friendly staff.

Family group of 7. Our 3 person room we lovingly called thr gnome home because of the cool sloped ceilings. My 6 ft tall nephew bonked first, then my niece and at 5ft3 inches I bonked too! But we absolutely LOVED the space. The AC in the room was fantastic. My parents were on ground floor, so they liked that. My Brother and his wife had the middle floor, and liked it too. There is an elevator, so that was wonderful for baggage.

We had a larger van, so only one garage was tall enough for parking. It was fine, just not very close by.
