Location was excellent for all the historic/tourist sights and the room was clean and very comfortable with great shower. The night I stayed, there was a rock concert just over the road at the Porta Nigra, which could be heard from my room, but that definitely wasnt a negative for me - although, i appreciate it may be for some, so may be worth checking before booking if thats the case. Online check in and check out with parking lot over the road - reservation required.

Nothing, all perfect for me. However, if you have mobility issues, maybe not for you as even with the lift, there's stairs to the rooms. Also, as mentioned above, there are events at the Porta Nigra (not sure how often) which can be heard from hotel - again no issue for me, but may be for some people, so check that out before booking if you'd be upset by that.

The location of the hotel is fantastic, just steps away from Porta Nigra and ten minutes walking to the train station. The rooms were basic and a good size but the bathrooms were rather small. Anyway more than enough for a three-day stay. On top of that, everything was spotlessly clean Breakfast was very good and tasty with quite a wide variety of savoury and sweet options and the staff were attentive to replace and replenish all products. Check-in, check-out and paying were easy thanks to the app and the instructions were clear to follow

Wifi was sometimes rather unstable. In spite of the app being useful, I still prefer to have a 24 hour reception and some staff to address to. For some people, using the app may be confusing or difficult

The location is great. 10-minute walk from Trier train station, and only 2 minutes to Porta Nigra and the town centre. My single room was nice and cosy. It got everything I needed and I had a good night’s sleep. Online check in was easy too, with clear instructions provided. The best thing about the hotel, for me, was the staff. I couldn’t come back in time to pick up my luggage before reception closed, but they helped me sort it out perfectly. Many thanks!!

The lift is quite small. It takes you to your floor, but you still need to climb a few steps to reach your room. Reception isn’t 24/7; it’s only until 5 or 6pm (depending on the day I guess). After that, both the front desk AND the lobby are closed. You have to check in online if you arrive late, and pick up your luggage before they close the front desk if you store your bags there.

The name is no lie, the Porta Nigra really is just right there, like fifty metres from the hotel. There’s a Norma next door too. I was allowed to stay a little longer past check-out since I had an online job interview. The staff was very helpful when I got locked out because of the lock doing weird things.

Three words that are sure to spark joy: Open. Concept. Bathroom. The curtains are very inadequate against the city’s lights, making a sleep mask a necessity. The door locks work with a code you get assigned at check-in. For some reason, mine decided to change in the morning, locking me out if it wasn’t for the staff’s help. Also, make sure to complete the check-in form before arriving if you arrive after 18:00 when the reception closes; I had to do it over mobile data with 5% battery while standing in the street to obtain my codes.

Hotel Porta Nigra is always a great place to stay. We have stayed here many times. Perfect location to visit the Trier Christmas market as we walk through the Porta Nigra to gate just steps from this hotel. If you drive, they have a parking lot just across the street. This time we stayed in rooms at the back of the hotel which were nice sized and very quiet and had a small kitchen area with cook top and refrigerator. It's always a pleasure to stay here.

Easy to walk from station. Excellent location just across the road from the Porta Nigra. Small supermarket and bakery next door (I didn't book breakfast). Bed was comfortable. Kettle with tea and coffee in the room. Very little noise from outside.

Couldn't avoid stairs even when using the lift. Shower doors weren't watertight.

Hotel really met all my expectations. I was quite satisfied with premises and every service it had to offer. Room and bathroom are very inteligently organized and decorated with a lot of taste. Location was excelent, and all the city atractions and transport points are in a walking distance. Staff very proffesional, polite and helpful. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty.

Location very convenient - within walking distance of the railway station. The room was comfortable and warm.

The construction of the building means that although there is a lift, guests will need to carry their luggage upstairs. This is made clear in the booking information - however, if you are not able to manage stairs with your bags, you many need to reconsider this hotel.

Excellent condition of property and room. Very comfortable bed. Private parking available for a small fee. Good breakfast. Pleasant and helpful staff. Superb location - very close to the Porta Nigra, short walk to central shopping area, walking distance from most of the main tourist sites and museums

Excellent location, can easily walk in to the centre and great view of the porta Nigra from the room. Beds were very comfortable and clean. Didn't have breakfast so can't comment on that.

Not much to criticise but charging hotel residents to park in hotel parking spaces always feels unfair to me.
