The hotel is really nice, well maintained. The room was clean and spacious. Great breakfast and nice atmosphere overall.

They charge extra for any coffee (cappuccino, espresso etc.) other than black or greek coffee at breakfast, which is kind of sad for a 5 star hotel. Other than that, everything was great, I would definitely return.

A beautiful hotel, rooms are quiet, loved the location being a bit further out from the over crowded tourist and shopping area, love the pool very clean and well kept. The staff are very helpful. We were here 11 years earlier and whilst there have been changes it’s just as good as ever.

I didn’t like the fact that the hotel pool is open to the public to use if they pay to enter. The pool should be exclusive to the guests of the hotel only. I can’t say if any non guest actually used the pool or not but it felt not so five star to see that sign at the pool. Other than this it’s impossible to find anything not to like.

one of the best hotels that I've ever stayed at in Greece. apart from being an excellent luxury hotel with friendly first class service. The location and the pool making it essential to any visit to Thessaloniki and the nearby beaches, historical and hiking attractions. 4th time and will of course be back! NB free valet parking an essential consideration as parking in the city is a nightmare!

some of the plants on the outside breakfast dining patio were dead and tatty, and small charges for extra room coffee pods and breakfast favourites have crept in. But still great value...

Makedonia Palace is a true gem in Thessaloniki — elegant, stylish, and perfectly located right on the seafront promenade. The rooms are spacious, beautifully decorated, and spotless, some offering breathtaking views over the Thermaic Gulf. Breakfast is exceptional, with a wide variety of fresh, high-quality options that truly set the tone for the day. The hotel features a large outdoor pool, open from 10:00 to 20:00, perfect for relaxing or cooling off after exploring the city. There is also a moderately sized gym with all the basic equipment needed for a decent workout. The atmosphere throughout the hotel feels sophisticated yet relaxed, and the dining options are excellent. Most of the staff are attentive and professional, ensuring a pleasant and comfortable stay.

The only small area for improvement would be the reception experience — while efficient, a warmer and more genuinely welcoming approach from some members of the front desk team would match the otherwise outstanding hospitality found elsewhere in the hotel.

Smart looking hotel and amenities ,good position, big rooms ( we had one looking at the sea ) great breakfast with variety of everything sweet and sour. The pool , after hot morning’s, visiting couple of major churches and museums , are bonus, you can relax and enjoy. Nuxe products in the bathrooms ,it’s nice touch . Everybody was so nice and helpful, we like Makedonia palace for our first stay in Thessaloniki.

Maybe waiters is little bit slow in the morning, especially if you are sitting outside for breakfast, but that’s not major minus. More people than sunbad, but somehow everybody has one for themselves at the end.

The hotel was 5 star. It has everything you would need. It was very well staffed, with Security on the Entrance 24/7 which made me feel very safe as a Solo Traveller. The Cleaners do an excellent job, and were also very polite and friendly. The delicious breakfast had every option you could think of and the Waiting staff were very attentive. I really liked that the Chef's wore tall hats too! It has a very nice pool area manned by a Lifeguard during open hours, and is directly adjacent to the public waterfront. There were even several shops within the hotel selling e.g. souvenirs and clothing. There was a nice atmosphere in the Hotel, which I think is mainly down to the very helpful and courteous staff. As an Ecologist, I was so happy to see rare Swifts enjoying flying above the building. Most evening's I spent time watching their acrobatics in wonder. What a precious sight.

I chose a City View, and think a Sea View would have been better. It's very nice to have table service for coffee at breakfast, but I think a coffee machine for self service would also be a good addition. Unfortunately because the hotel was busy I was provided a Twin room instead of my preferred option of a Double bed.

Location and architecture. Breakfast is super

Swimming pool area is very basic. They need to renovate. Gym is totally wrong. Must be immediately renovated. Elevators need different software and perhaps mechanism. They don’t operate properly . The central HVAC fan system of this hotel is located on the ground, the sound of the fans create a disturbing nose to all the corner rooms, I had 729, all this line of rooms, you have a sound as if you are placed at the bottom of a cruise ship. Lastly staff. Some of the concierge staff is rude, seems they are there many years and forgot the fact they work at a 5 star hotel. If the GM needs more details he can communicate either me to give him more details.

Location is good, within walking distance to restaurants, shopping & amenities. Hotel garden opens right out onto the popular walking paved area which wraps around the port and sea in Thessaloniki city centre. Breakfast was very lovely with a varied multi-selection to choose from including Greek foods. Hotel is really pleasantly clean, felt hygienic. It was also nice seeing bottles of antibacterial hand gel posted still strategically around the hotel and especially their food zones. Most other places of business, hotels, even eating outlets, no longer have these. This hotel is very spacious with multiple nice lounging areas both within and outside. Our room & it's balcony were both of very good size, and with sitting area, allowing us to relax and enjoy. Friendly and helpful, professional staff. The check out time here is one hour later than other hotels which is a huge plus! You get to sleep in longer, breakfast, pack and so on, you don't feel rushed out.

The carpet in our room had multiple heavy stains in quite a significant square area. This being a 5 star hotel, stained carpets were a tinge of disappointment after the marvellously tiled floors in areas like the grand entrance, elevator halls, stair cases and concierge. Our head board for the bed also had delaminated/scratched/peeled off areas. The balcony is roomy and nice but could do with some form of retractable airers perhaps on, since it has a pool, for drying swimwear and so on. Like many other Greek hotels have. The restaurant is very expensive.
