I needed a place to stay as a solo traveler which was more affordable than a hotel or entire apartment, but I also wanted the privacy of my own room. And this is exactly what the Black Sheep Hostel was able to offer. A common kitchen and living room and baths, but a very spacious private room. The access with a telephone app worked out very well, at least for me since I have internet roaming. The place was kept very clean. The location was also perfect for my visit this time, near many good restaurants and near where I had to be during my visit. A special plus was free coffee from a good coffee machine.

The location is great, it's in the center and well-connected to the airport, even if you arrive in the middle of the night. It's technically a hostel, but the price for a single/double room is more than fair, not $90 like everywhere else. If you're staying for more than one (or a few) days, it's a great pick. Check out is at 10AM, and I arrived after midnight. However, even after the check out, you can still stay in the lobby and chill.

The location was great… close to a lot of eating places and tourist attractions. The WiFi connection was very reliable with a strong signal. The facility had very useful kitchen equipment, except for the coffeemaker which didn’t have instructions for use. The rooms were quite large and the space was quiet.

A wardrobe mirror in the room would have been nice, instead of going to the hallway to check how one looks prior to going out. Price for extra towels should have been indicated in the information available in the room. A better quality toilet paper would be nice, not the rough and thin one that was provided. I suggest the innkeeper take the initiative to repaint/clean the elevator … as it is, it has too much graffiti making the place ghetto looking.

Great location, really clean room and common areas, good wifi, great value for money. Room had good heating, I stayed warm throughout the very cold Budapest winter. Lots of privacy in the attic which I like. As others have said your mobile phone is your key so make sure you have proper working phone preferably with data for easy access.

I had the bed in the single room in the attic. The bed was not comfortable. It would also have been better to put in a small desk or end table for laptops and phone charging and stuff.

Large spacious room with 1 double bed and 2 single beds - high ceilings and a balcony overlooking a min street in Budapest. The price for the room was 14 euros per person per night, an incredible deal. Nice social kitchen space to interact with fellow travellers

Hostel is located on the 5th floor with a very sketchy lift up there. No breakfast option and no staff on site apart from a cleaner made things a bit tricky when checking in/out

The room and bathrooms and restrooms were extremley clean. The personal was very friendly, they pay attention every need of us. They were really friendly and helpful. The morning cafees are wonderful, they provide cafee. The manager Magdelane is a wonderful cherful and helpful person.

Some of the guests next door made some noice... but is has noting to do with hostel. This happened only one night.

The location is perfect. The reception is very responsif and kind, Magdaléna responded to all our questions in good time and is very helpful and kind. Our room is clean as well as the bathrooms we appreciate this very much. The coffee machine at the reception and also the kitchen facilities are good for our needs. We appreciated that we could leave our hand bags at the reception before check in time. Good value for money.

Our automatic lock to access the room was not working, but we asked for help and got it right away. Our room was a little bit too warm.

This trip has been a revelation. To some extent it was an amazing trip also because we didn't expect it to be. You always hope for the best of course, but we've been around for many years and we just don't get that amazed often. The city was simply amazing and the only regret is we haven't had more time to spend there. The hotel itself was very comfortable and due to something I didn't quite understand, we have been upgraded, or switched to basically a full apartment with all private stuff, as opposed to the shared bathroom and kitchen that we had originally booked. As it was, beginning of January doesn't seem the time of the year where tourism is at its peak in Budapest, so chances are the apartment would have been free of colleagues no matter what. The location is amazing, the conditions are very nice, recommended

I have to really dig in to find anything that could be improved. As it is, the only hiccup we encountered with the location was related to the payment. For some reason it was ok not to pay right away, but to do it right before the trip. OK, why not, if I can pay later this has to be a good thing, but as it happens I received some emails as to how I need to pay, to make an account on some website and enter card details and...you know what, turns out it was all perfectly legit. But between the slightly approximate English on the payment provider and the fact I had to do it, it just felt too close to a scam. I will say again it was everything perfect, but it felt odd.

The location was really good and the room was comfortable and clean 🙂

The first night there was a party in the room next to me and I tried to contact the number available in the reception and no one answered. Only the day after when the cleaning lady arrived I could say what happened and then she contacted the manager and the manager sent me an email apologizing for the noise, but I never actually saw her face, since everything is basically online.

The room was big for 3 people and everything was fine for us. The balcony was also a plus. We didn't mind the shared bathroom. There were actually 2 bathrooms so when one was occupied you could use the other one. We didn't use the kitchen but it looked modern and clean. Check-in is via an app.

We had a problem with getting to the hostel and our room with the online key in the app but I called the reception and the lady helped us immediately so the problem was solved.
