This is a hidden gem in the heart of Fort Kochi , right on the beachfront and at a great location. The hotel is steeped in history (built around a 17th Century Dutch home) and has an attentive staff. If you are looking for personalised care and attention especially when travelling with seniors this is a great option. The hotel has an in-house restaurant with great breakfast , lunch and dinner options - delicately made and good variety. The kitchen made no-spice meals for my grandma every day - thank you! If there is a negative it will be the lack of TVs in the room and a small pool.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Amritara in Fort Kochi! It was a lovely heritage hotel, the staff were all lovely, and the pool was picturesque and a nice way to spend an hour or so relaxing. We had one evening dinner there and then breakfast each morning. The evening meal was a very good curry and the breakfasts were nice and you could choose from a menu. Particular thanks to Allwyn and Jiya for making our stay memorable. Jiya also helped us organise our onward travel and driver for the next 6 days which really helped us out and the driver organised (Rajesh from Theyyam Holidays) was great and a safe and competent driver.

- Breakfast starts at 8. They have a standard continental breakfast with daily Indian options freshly made. All the food was really good. - If we needed a taxi for the day, the staff were helpful with those details. - Affordable laundry service compared to other similar priced hotels. - Location was good as it makes it easy to go for walks in a safe neighborhood, near the beach and other tourist sights. - We had the sea facing room with a porch. The pictures on line do not do it justice. The room is very comfortable and I liked the fact you have two separate areas for relaxing especially when traveling across time zones and two people get used to adjusting to the time zone differently.

I only wished there was some type of service for tea/coffee or snacks earlier as we are international travelers and that would have helped with jet lag. We instead made tea in the room (free tea bags, etc) or went to the street vendor by the beach for an earlier breakfast.

lovely old heritage Building in a great location with a nice view from the upper terrace to the beach. The food is good and you can relax in a nice garden by a small refreshing pool. The staff is nice and attentive- especially Aslam. I broke my hand the 2nd day and Aslam accompanied me after he finished his shift to the hospital and stayed long after midnight, he arranged the check up appointments so that I didn’t need to wait for to long, picked me up in his lunch break and made things as comfortable as possible. He went far beyond his duties, which I really much appreciated.

Ir was a fantastic experience. Everything went well, from the contact previous to my arrival to the professionalism and grace of everyone highlighting the hotel's driver, Manuel and the breakfast and dinner staff who were amazing. I recommend to anyone who wants to be close to the traditional centre of Fort Kochi and Mattancherry, but also with easy access to other areas of Kochi.

I love the building itself. it sat next to the Dutch graveyard and right behind the beachfront. I LOVED very much the hospitality of the manager (she’s a GEM) and the stuff we’re just INCREDIBLE!! I loved the 24 hour security guard always alert and on duty! well done team!

the only thing I didn’t like was the 1 and only big cockroach that was crawling through my room - now with that being said, the house is beautifully old and it is directly next to the sea and surrounded by a beautiful garden. of course this may be expected but I was just really freaked out. also, the furniture is in desperate need of some wood work repairs and small updates such as wall plugs / outlets. minor issues.

We had a lovely 2 days at the Amritara. The staff were great and the food was exceptional. Its in a perfect position by the sea, within easy walking distance of things to see. Reception booked us to see the Kathakali dancing which we loved. They also booked our driver Manuel, who couldn't have been better. He drove us on and off for over a week and was a pleasure to spend time with. His driving was safe and he helped us get anything we needed. I would highly recommend him. 😀

Nothing really - if anything the pool was a bit small and the sea cannot be seen from the pool/garden.

The staff was always smiling and very helpful. Akshaya was great with breakfast, and taking care of our basic needs. Gokul arranged a great Aleppey trip for us. Jia and Nancy guided us and coordinated local site-seeing for us. Rooms are comfy. Bathrooms are great. Overall property is a heritage property. Our room had view of the Dutch cemetry -- which is precious.

Towels, hand towels need to smell nicer / feel fresher. Swimming pool's water quality - not sure (?). Need to invest in common rest rooms / wash rooms on the ground floor.

It is a wonderful place, a beautifully preserved colonial period residence. The well-kept garden, the swimming pool, the terrace overlooking the sea. Very close to the ancient Dutch cemetery and Chinese nets Also excellent restaurant service. Very helpful staff, they organized and directed us to a good Ayurvedic clinic for a treatment and a kathakali show at the Kerala cultural center (5 minutes walk).
