Receptionist was very nice and friendly. Staff in general nice. The room was good. Breakfast was really nice.
Service at the restaurant was awful. We had a booking made for 8pm. Waited over 1hour to get 1 glass of wine and even more for our dinner to be served. Due to food allergies/intolerance the dish was modified (that was nice) but nothing offered as a replacement, garnish removed ended up with just the fish and a few potatoes on the side. Asked for one dessert that was no longer available, but not offered to check the menu again for something else or even suggested an option. No gesture made for the delay. I would not eat there again. Also the waiters had to walk through reception to bring the dishes to the other side of bar/restaurant room ...

My whole experience staying here was wonderful. The ladies at breakfast were very friendly and we spoke about our hiking adventures. The breakfast was delicious, especially the musli they provided. I stayed in a single room for two nights, and it was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. Everything worked including the hot shower etc The food in the bar was great, and the location was a short car ride to my hiking adventure to Mount Errigal. I had a lovely experience, and I am hopeful to be back soon to explore the area.

I have been here on numerous occasions and have left reviews in the past.If it wasn't good I wouldn't return.I always found it a pleasant stay.I note some of the "picky" reviews left which are frankly unbelievable. It is a three star hotel, immaculately clean in a quiet village. It is fully supported by the local people which says it all.The staff are very friendly and it is great to see young staff employed who are a pleasure.Enjoy your stay as you won't be disappointed.I never have.I drive three hours to get there.Well worth it.

The accommodation was great however I thought we had booked in Letterkenny only to discover when we arrived in the town it was the Letterkenny County where I had booked 45 min back to the coast so it's always best to check the post code to ensure you have the correct town. All in all the hotel was fine and all we needed was available and lovely and quiet.

The staff were so friendly and welcoming. We had dinner in the bar and it was superb. This was in the perfect spot for a stay after we climbed mount errigal. Little pub and chip shop just across the road and a great service station with everything you need.
Although the hotel may be a bit dated for some, it is spotlessly clean and has everything you need. The location is excellent for hikers. Beautiful area.

Bar food was excellent and good value, lovely attentive staff. Entertainment on Mon And Tues of my stay. Modern bathrooms. Lovely reception and bar staff.
Bed was the most uncomfortable I have ever tried to sleep in. Black out curtains would be great and a toilet roll holder. Hotel needs a lift , reception girls lugging luggage up one flight of stairs.

Cosy and clean room, quiet location, lovely staff. There's a pub right beside it and a petrol station and shop just down the road. Nice breakfast with a number of options included.
The heating seemed to be on an automatic setting where it comes on at certain times of the day, I couldn't decide myself when I wanted it on, but it was fine because I was out during the day anyway and it was put on in the afternoon/evening.

As a woman travelling by herself, I felt very safe. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Plenty of car parking space. I ate my evening meal in the bar - the food was delicious. I had seabass fillets, mashed potato & lots of seasonal veg. For breakfast, I ordered poached eggs with mushrooms & tomato. White bread toast was supplied but on request, I was given brown bread. My breakfast was very nice.
On arrival, I was directed to my room (104), however, when I got to the room I discovered no handle/mechanism for the key card on the door just a big hole!! I returned to reception, & with profuse apologies from the receptionist, I was allocated another room (201). This, too, had issues with the key/locking system - I could lock the door when in the room but not when I left the room. Anyone could just walk in. As there was no safe in the room I had to take any valuables with me anytime I left the room. For breakfast, I would have preferred a fresh fruit option on the buffet table instead of tinned grapefruit & tinned prunes. Also, cereals were in large communal serving bowls, uncovered.

The staff at the Ostan Loch Alton are the best asset of the Hotel. Although mainly young people their sense of customer service is excellent. When the storm came in John, night porter, could not have been more helpful. He looked after all the residents and made sure that they were safe and comfortable. The room was excellent and the food was very good. This is a top end 3 star hotel

Location was great. Staff were very friendly especially in the bar/restaurant The food was great and very reasonable, 2 courses for €23.
Our room was very small, the bed was the smallest double bed ever. It was ok as we were only sleeping there. The corridors to the bedrooms were very stuffy, bed to keep the windows open.
