The Grand Hotel Excelsior was amazing, the staff were friendly and very helpful. The breakfast had lots of choices, the location and views were great. The hotel was very clean had a nice little gym and the bar was a great place to end the evening, the shuttle bus was a major plus for this hotel providing regular services to and from the hotel and was easy to book through the hotel website, on a couple of occasions the shuttle was fully booked but the staff were amazing and laid on an extra shuttle bus to suit. I would definitely stay again!

Everything was perfect.

The view from our room was outstanding. The room was spacious but in need of TLC in regards to furnishings. The breakfast was very good with a wide variety to choose from. The outside terrace was a lovely space to have breakfast. All of the staff were super helpful although some didn't dominate English well. Even then they were gracious and very pleasant. The pool area was also very pleasant with a great view as well. The fact that they had a shuttle to Amalfi was a wonderful addition to our stay since they are quite a distance from the centre due to all the lovely curvy roads from the top down into town,

The only thing that was uncomfortable for us were the pillows and mattress. Much too hard. The dresser in the room was quite old. The drawers didn't open and close very well. What is really, really missing for this day and age are outlets. There were only two. Not enough with all the devices one has to charge.

Our stay at the Grand Excelsior was excellent! The hotel is beautiful, the food was delicious, and the view from our room was absolutely breathtaking — every room includes a balcony with stunning views of the coast. The complimentary shuttle service was incredibly convenient and well-organized, making it easy to get into Amalfi. Just keep in mind that you’ll need to plan your trips around the shuttle schedule, but it’s a much better option than driving or trying to park in town.

The hotel is located near the top of the mountain, about a 15-minute drive from Amalfi. While this means it’s not walkable to town, the views more than make up for it and the shuttle service handles transportation well. The rooms are a little dated, but still very clean, comfortable, and well-kept. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and would absolutely recommend the Grand Excelsior to anyone visiting the Amalfi Coast!

Being 2km from Amalfi, we loved the peaceful atmosphere. A free shuttle took us to the private beach or into Amalfi as many times as we needed. There was a lift in the rock, down to the beach. Staff were so very helpful. We tipped at the end. I loved our balcony & the view was amazing. Highly recommended!

We like to read sat up on sunbeds but there were only 2 settings, neither one was upright. Only a little thing really but our backs hurt by the pool and at the beach.

The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. Not only at reception but in the dining area, bar and shuttle bus. The view was amazing from the dining area.

The only negative was the breakfast ok. Very much same basic items each day. You are also very much dependent on being organised to arrange the shuttle bus to bring you up and down to the hotel from Amalfi. The price you pay for views. However some nice restaurants a short walk up the hill from the hotel instead of going down to the humdrum of the city

Really loved this hotel. Our room was recently refurbished, airy, bright and very comfortable. Stunning view from our balcony. What we really appreciated was the overall quality of services in the hotel. The restaurant was surprisingly good for a hotel and the views from the restaurant terrace were simply spectacular. Staff were very attentive and efficient. Pool area was spacious and we never had a problem getting a sun lounger. The hotel is located above Amalfi but we found the hotel shuttle worked very well.

A very well operated hotel in great location with awesome views. While the rooms, restaurant, lobby etc were all a bit outdated and require a proper modernisation, it was still very enjoyable. We would call it an "old charmer". Food and service was very good. The staff was super friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the pool and billiard area a lot. The taxi shuttle to/from beach & town was easy and well organized.

Interior and furniture needs urgent modernisation. No power plugs next to beds.

The view was beautiful and the hotel was very clean. The staff was really kind. The shuttle bus worked very well.

Breakfast was a little bit simple and we didn`t like the disposable tableware. We understand if you want to save water but otherwise the disposable tableware is very unecological choice and the food lose its taste. The room was very simple but clean. We missed some kind of shelf in the bathroom where to hold toilet bags. There was a bad smell in the bathroom.

A Dream Come True on the Amalfi Coast! From the moment we arrived, we were absolutely captivated. As soon as you step into the hotel, you are greeted by the most breathtaking view of the Amalfi Coast, with a direct outlook over the beautiful town of Amalfi. The staff were always friendly, cheerful, and incredibly attentive, making us feel welcome at every turn. The rooms are newly renovated and were the best we have experienced in all of Italy. We were also delighted by the complimentary shuttle service to the town, which added so much convenience to our stay. The hotel restaurant is a gem! Both breakfast and dinner were fantastic, with a magical atmosphere and stunning views that made every meal unforgettable. In short, this hotel is simply wow—an experience we’ll cherish forever. Highly recommended!

All the staff were very friendly and helpful from the time we arrived. Reception staff were all welcoming. Francisco explained all we needed to know and took us to our rooms. There are regular shuttle vans that take guests to and from the Amalfi town. Before we arrived, the hotel sent a message with instructions on how to book the shuttle. Very straightforward. Just a tip to add your email address on the booking site to get confirmation that you booked the shuttle to avoid confusion with other guests. We had 2 rooms which are both clean and have cool air conditioning. The balcony overlooking the sea is such a lovely view. There is a tablet that controls the TV and where you can get all the info you need for the hotel. Rooms were cleaned everyday. Breakfast food and drinks were good with different options to choose from. The restaurant is located on the 2nd floor with a view of the sea and mountain side. Dinner was also great and prices were reasonable and comparable to restaurants in town. We think they're even better than most restaurants in town. Staff in the restaurant were all lovely and friendly. We didn't eat lunch here so can't comment on lunch experience. The pool is located on the ground floor. We only spent one day for a few hours in the pool area because we liked to go to the beach more. There are regular shuttles to take you down the beach. Then there are 2 lifts to take guests down to the beach level. The beach is exclusive to the hotel guests. Sun loungers are always available. There is a lido where they serve food and drinks. It's a pebble beach which may hurt the feet when going in and out of the water. All the staff at the beach are all nice and helpful. Bring a mosquito repellent. You'll need it in Amalfi in general. We had a great time in Amalfi and the hotel is great.
