This is an exceptional hotel with the most wonderful staff. I booked Hotel Petronilla for my parents who were travelling to Bergamo for a family wedding. My mother has mobility issues and Francesco and Rebecca provided excellent assistance to her and my father. They organised a hair dresser appointment on the morning of the wedding for my mother in a salon that was within walking distance so that my father could easily take her to it. They accommodated storage of a wheelchair from an Italian rental company and organised taxis to take my parents around Bergamo. Their service and kindness to my parents was beyond expectations and if I could give them 11/10, I would! I highly recommend this hotel!

A wonderful five nights spent at Petronilla. So friendly and helpful, felt like a stay with new friends. Staff readily offered help and suggestions for exploring the city. Booking a restaurant before we arrived and providing advice on our journey from Milan airport. Plenty of breakfast choices, we couldn't manage trying everything. Very comfortable room, a large bed with excellent cotton sheets and perfect pillows.....bliss. The shower with 3 different shower head options was good to have. The long shoe was a surprise find in the wardrobe and used often! The hotel is very conveniently situated for walking to local shops and restaurants or using buses to reach the upper city if the walk up couldn't be managed. Approximately 25 minute walking distance of station . We loved our stay and will be telling our friends about you. Thank you.

exquisite breakfasts with a generous time frame, 7-10 am. the room was very well appointed, with excellent storage for clothing and lots of mirrors, and a well-stocked bar. the street is quiet, but in a very good neighborhood, close to Bergamo's prime shopping area. The street begins at Via San Alessandro, which leads directly to the Giacomo Gate to the Citta Alta, about a 30-minute walk. Going down the street the other way Via San Bernardino leads to Bergamo's exceptionally handsome public library; the first-floor interior offers children's books on one side and travel books on the other, looking out onto a garden that can be entered from the library. the hotel's laundry service did a lovely job and took about two days. staff were very warm and helpful.--and they seemed to have a system whereby the maids were alerted when one came to breakfast so that on returning to the room after breakfast, one found that the room had been made up.

I would have liked more private public spaces for reading or sitting outside the room, but still in the hotel. The garden may offer something of the sort in the summer, but not in November. The area's many pleasant cafes, in various styles, offer an alternative. I would also have appreciated a clock, to know readily what time it is in the middle of the night or early morning, without having to turn on the light.

This 12 room Boutique Hotel had a very welcoming vibe. The staff were exceptionally friendly helpful and professional. Great attention to detail. Breakfast cooked to order with extensive buffet and the Coffee was Great too.

The room was modern, very clean with a comfortable bed and excellent bathroom facilities and a good wardrobe. The layout of the furniture could have been better to allow for a comfortable relaxation seating area in our opinion. That is all. It would not stop us staying again.

Lovely hotel with great facilities and a really homely feel. The breakfasts are well worth paying for - delicious and plenty to eat with some excellent coffee. Our room was modern but without being cold or clinical and it made such a difference to have a 24-hr front desk since our flight meant we didn’t arrive until 2am. It’s really well located for the lower town and old town of Bergamo but the staff are probably the best thing about Petronilla - unfailingly polite, welcoming and friendly. We loved it!

This is the true definition of a boutique hotel - small, personal, great service. I loved the art theme throughout and especially my Edward Hopper themed room. It's perfectly located for exploring either the lower or upper town of Bergamo, and the security is excellent, as are the facilities - first time I've ever received an explanation of how to use the shower (although I could have used it in other hotels). The Culti toiletries were wonderful. The breakfast buffet was stunningly good - an amazing variety of everything, including many healthy options. The most impressive thing about the hotel was the staff, especially the manager, Francesco, and the front desk clerk Rebecca. The maid was also incredibly hard-working and observant and managed to clean my room thoroughly while I was at breakfast.

Everything ! I can normally find fault with just about anything - but I'm struggling here. Petronilla is a small boutique hotel in a quiet street close to the centre of the lower town. It is well positioned to walk up to the older, picturesque upper town (or for the funicular). The hotel is well appointed and comfortable - we were upgraded, so all rooms may not be quite as good as ours: spacious, tastefully decorated with a vast bed and equally huge bathroom. The road outside was very quiet at night for a city centre - even on the night Atalanta beat AC Milan. Breakfast was outstanding (I would particularly recommend the cheese omelette). But what really stands out here is the professionalism, friendliness and helpfulness of the staff who were all absolutely outstanding. Many thanks to you all - now where is that sixth star when you need it ?

Small but perfectly formed. Felt cosy. Modern interior with large bedrooms and bathrooms with wonderful walk-in shower. The breakfasts, as other reviewers have said, were delicious, beautifully cooked and presented. Good location for walking to shops and restaurants and to buses. The most important factor was the staff. The 3 concierges (not an accurate description as they did everything) we met over the week were absolutely amazing (Francesco, Joanna and Rebecca) as were the kitchen and housekeeping staff.

We missed not having tea and coffee making facilities in the room (however, it was nice to have bottled water and snacks or fruit left in the room every day).

Exceptional service standards and attention to detail. The receptionist we saw for most of our stay was so helpful, providing thoughtful touches which, among other things, made this small hotel so exceptional. The room (101 but nothing to fear there) was spacious, cool and very comfortable with such excellent bathroom facilities. Cleanliness was top notch. Breakfast was a delight too in the small garden courtyard. Attentive service again with a wonderful choice of delicious food.

The staff, in particular, were outstanding in every way from marking a map and and providing guidance on what to see based on our interests including dinner reservations to parking our car for us and drying clothes after we got caught in a rain storm. Absolutely the best we have ever encountered from arrival to departure!! Perfect location for touring and shopping, outstanding breakfast and world class accommodation and value for money.
