Stunning place with Absolutely divine views! The staff couldn’t be more helpful and lovely! We had a bath tub overseeing all of Capri and Marina Picola… it doesn’t get any better. Yes, you will see reviews about the hike to the hotel, but honestly the walk is so beautiful and totally doable. We had much more difficult walks going to Da Luigi and Marina picola. All of Capri is meant for walking and enjoyment and there are hardly any routes accessible by car so don’t read the reviews of spoilt tourists and go ahead and book this place!

Extremely Disappointing Stay – Not as Advertised Our experience at Hotel Villa Lia in Capri was deeply frustrating and far from what was advertised. From the moment we arrived, it was clear this hotel is not ready to host guests comfortably or safely. First and foremost, access to the hotel is extremely difficult – something that was never mentioned in the listing. You must climb 26+ narrow alleyway-style stairs, which would be a serious challenge even for the fit. By the time we reached the hotel, we were sweating and exhausted – you practically need to be an athlete to get there. To make matters worse, there was no lighting on the stairs or the street leading to the hotel at night, making it dangerous and pitch black – a serious safety concern. Inside the hotel, the problems continued: • No working Wi-Fi, despite it being advertised. • TV was non-functional. • Shower initially had boiling hot water only; when fixed, there was barely any water pressure. • The bathroom smelled strongly of plumbing/sewage – very unpleasant. • The door didn’t lock properly – completely unacceptable from a security standpoint. • Lights on the property weren’t working, including in common areas. Even the waiters who came to serve drinks at the pool were out of breath, which speaks volumes about how inaccessible and poorly designed the location is. We raised these concerns with the manager, who unfortunately refused to refund our second night or even offer a partial refund when we expressed the need to leave early. Instead, we were offered to move to their sister property in Anacapri, which was not what we booked and not where we wanted to stay. As compensation, we were offered a drink and an aperitivo – which frankly did not come close to addressing the scale of the issues. This was a poorly managed, non-functional property that should not be marketed the way it currently is.

DANGER, BE CAREFUL. ! This hôtel has nothing of à 5 stars hotel standards. Far away from that. No lobby , What they call a bar is a small counter with 4 chairs. Not accessible with a car or taxi. To get from the piazzeta to the hotel you have to walk and climb up the mountain in a very steep way. Can not be done unless you are very fit. Not to mention if you have to carry a suit case.. A real danger. No lift and steps everywhere. To get from the reception to the room about 30 steps. To get to the small swimming pool more steep steps up. I booked a room with a sea view, room 204 , no sea view. You have to stick your body and head out of the window to see the sea in a small corner. When i complained about it, tge hotel manager offered me a room in their sister hotel in Ana Capri. If you know the island you understand how ridiculous this offer is. I felt cheated. The hotel has a terrace with à nice view like most of the hotels in Capri. Breakfast was small choice but good. The TV had 4 local Italian channels and no connection to a cable TV. I tried to contact the manager who answered in a prevl prepared answer that he is sorry that it is my personal impression. Believe me it is not only my impression. HOT WATER NOT WORKING AIRCON NOT WORKING PROPERTY DENIED THE REFUND. SILLY MONEY FOR A PROPERTY THAT IS NOT READY TO BE RENTED OUT. STRUCTURAL PROBLEMS THAT ARE BEING IGNORED. WHO GAVE 5 STARS TO THIS HOTEL ???!!! Nice view after climbing a crazy amount of massive steps. I'm very fit and I train continuously, reaching out the hotel was like a high level fitness training. My partner was put off going out for the fatigue of reaching the hotel! This was not mentioned and it's not advertised!

Unreal views. Super nice and accommodating staff. Rooms were spacious and comfortable.

When choosing the property and reading reviews about the effort it takes to get to the property we said “how hard can it be”. We found ourselves laughing a lot on our way to the hotel the first time. The is a lengthy switchback to navigate the last stretch after finding your way through the maze of capri…but it’s totally worth it. We stayed two nights…if you go the Capri you walk a lot..its something you need to be prepared for. And figuring out the shortest or easiest path to a spot was a fun challenge…and navigating to the hotel was something fun. There is the “locals” way which allows you to avoid the steep switchback and replaces it with a little more distance and steps…you just need to find the “gate” which you’ll never be able to do without being at the property first. We found it our first night after enjoying an amazing dinner…it adds some fun to the stay. We would stay here again in a second. Take advantage of the porters once you take the lift to the piazza your first time there (I’d say that about staying at any property) but once you figure things out…it’s not bad. We took our roller bags with us when left…it wasn’t a big deal.
