Our stay at Palazzo Gattini in Matera was simply exceptional! The city itself was a delightful surprise, and we enjoyed every moment. The hotel welcomed us with warmth, kindness, and professionalism. The breakfast was fantastic, and we are especially grateful to Clara, who greeted us with a smile every morning. The front desk staff was always helpful, and a special thank you to Carmen, who assisted us with every request. She also recommended Andrea, who gave us a wonderful tuk-tuk tour of the city at sunset. The shuttle service was convenient, and the hotel's location was absolutely perfect, offering easy access to everything. As a five-star hotel, it certainly lived up to its reputation, and we had an amazing time. Highly recommended!

The most striking thing is that we got a (double) upgrade to a room with a beautifull terrace and jacuzzi overviewing the Sassi. The hotel is perfectly located in the centre and located in a old palace. It has a nice terrace for dinner and drinks with beautiful view. The staff is amazing. The only thing is that the hotel is located in the centre of the historical and car-free area. We arrived by car and we had to park the car in a sister hotel and were neatly transported with a van from and to the hotel. Unfortunatey the GPS of the car brought us into the car-free zone of Matera :(

The property is luxurious and the views from the garden terrace are one of the best in Matera. There are beautiful architectural highlights around every corner. Stunning!

The property is lovely and so was our room. Unfortunately, the location of our room was poor due to its proximity to a construction site, a well traveled alley and the maids closet. The hotel wasn’t that crowded so it would’ve been nice if we were given a better room or even offered an upgrade. We would’ve gladly paid for and moved to a quieter room….before we had unpacked all our belongings. The front desk had to know that we would wake to construction noise and the incessant beeping of the vehicles that are used to transport materials. If you stay at this hotel make sure to stay on the backside (view side) of the property.

The location was superb, right in the heart of Matera, next to the cathedral. It was easy to retreat to the hotel for a rest after walking up and down Matera’s many steps. The breakfast was superb, and dinner in the restaurant excellent. The hotel parking outside the centre with free lift to the hotel was very convenient.

Nothing to dislike but we expected more “ palazzo” character or atmosphere, being in the centre of such a historic city.

We love the amazing architecture of the hotel. You truly felt like you were living in a Paso. Both rooms were over the top though we had divided opinions about weather the Roman bath was entirely necessary. The staff were very helpful and the location is terrific.

Breakfast was the one negative. Industrial pastries. No home made offerings. Furnishings could do with an upgrade. Somewhat out of date

having to leave our car in a car park - unable to drive to door. However the hotel did everything in their power to mitigate by messaging us before our arrival as due to road restrictions - they arrange for their driver to collect you.

We loved absolutely everything. This was a surprise birthday trip for my husband. This was also our first trip as a married couple so I wanted to make it very special and memorable. Communication with the hotel before the arrival was great, response very quick and no question were left unanswered. Staff helped with booking a pick up and drop off service with a very smartly dressed driver in a beautiful Mercedes. Service on arrival and throughout the whole stay was faultless. Our room was upgraded to one with a beautiful view and a Jacuzzi which was an unexpected and incredible surprise that we were very grateful for. Staff also helped us with booking a James Bond themed guide with Dora and she was fantastic!!! We covered locations used for filming the movie but also lots of Matera in general which was great. I am vegan and let the staff know before the arrival and they really looked after me during breakfast, Service there was also great and staff knowledgable and happy to recommend activities and interesting places to visit in the town. Staff also recommended hotel restaurant for the birthday dinner (Le Bubbole) and wow, we were not dissapointed. Food was fantastic, service impeccable and they really made it extra special for us, especially Pietro. We cannot thank the staff enough for making our stay at this amazing hotel much better than we anticipated. Amazing place and amazing memories. Highly recommended!!!

Our room gave on to street so was a little noisy although at night it was beautifully quiet
