The location is amazing, stunning. But the staff were even more amazing. My wife was ill on arrival and they helped make sure she got the help she needed - local GP, then hospital - and nothing was too much trouble. A huge thank you to all of them, especially Carmen, who dealt with things when we got to the hotel. Aside from my family’s difficulties, Matera is an extraordinary place, well with a visit, and this hotel is a fantastic place from which to explore it.

A minor downside but the variety of food made available for breakfast isn’t great for a 5* hotel.

Our stay at Palazzo Gattini in Matera was simply exceptional! The city itself was a delightful surprise, and we enjoyed every moment. The hotel welcomed us with warmth, kindness, and professionalism. The breakfast was fantastic, and we are especially grateful to Clara, who greeted us with a smile every morning. The front desk staff was always helpful, and a special thank you to Carmen, who assisted us with every request. She also recommended Andrea, who gave us a wonderful tuk-tuk tour of the city at sunset. The shuttle service was convenient, and the hotel's location was absolutely perfect, offering easy access to everything. As a five-star hotel, it certainly lived up to its reputation, and we had an amazing time. Highly recommended!

A beautiful luxury hotel in the old city. Our room was beautiful and very spacious with a romantic tub, a separate sitting area, and a balcony with chairs and a table for enjoying the fabulous view of the Sasso. The staff was courteous, friendly and very attentive. Would definitely visit again.

Given the location, be aware you need to park your vehicle at a sister hotel and take a shuttle into the old city. It was no problem ( just need to call about 20 minutes out.)

Palazzo Gattini is an excellent choice for a stay in Matera. Located at the heart of the old town, in the main Cathedral Square, it is the best place to explore the exquisite city of Matera. Staff is extremely attentive, our room was excellent with a view directly to the Piazza del Duomo (Cathedral Square). Its price is what you would expect from a five-star hotel, but the quality is there. If you can indulge yourself for an unforgettable stay, look no further.

The most striking thing is that we got a (double) upgrade to a room with a beautifull terrace and jacuzzi overviewing the Sassi. The hotel is perfectly located in the centre and located in a old palace. It has a nice terrace for dinner and drinks with beautiful view. The staff is amazing. The only thing is that the hotel is located in the centre of the historical and car-free area. We arrived by car and we had to park the car in a sister hotel and were neatly transported with a van from and to the hotel. Unfortunatey the GPS of the car brought us into the car-free zone of Matera :(

The property is luxurious and the views from the garden terrace are one of the best in Matera. There are beautiful architectural highlights around every corner. Stunning!

The property is lovely and so was our room. Unfortunately, the location of our room was poor due to its proximity to a construction site, a well traveled alley and the maids closet. The hotel wasn’t that crowded so it would’ve been nice if we were given a better room or even offered an upgrade. We would’ve gladly paid for and moved to a quieter room….before we had unpacked all our belongings. The front desk had to know that we would wake to construction noise and the incessant beeping of the vehicles that are used to transport materials. If you stay at this hotel make sure to stay on the backside (view side) of the property.

Fantastic hotel in best location in front of Duomo. If you come by car they will pick you up from their associated parking. Staff deserve a 10, especially Teresa and Francesco who were super nice and attentive to all our needs or questions. Very comfortable room with amazing view over Matera

We love the amazing architecture of the hotel. You truly felt like you were living in a Paso. Both rooms were over the top though we had divided opinions about weather the Roman bath was entirely necessary. The staff were very helpful and the location is terrific.

The location was superb, right in the heart of Matera, next to the cathedral. It was easy to retreat to the hotel for a rest after walking up and down Matera’s many steps. The breakfast was superb, and dinner in the restaurant excellent. The hotel parking outside the centre with free lift to the hotel was very convenient.

Nothing to dislike but we expected more “ palazzo” character or atmosphere, being in the centre of such a historic city.
