Most fabulous stay in all of Italy! This hotel is a palace and so beautiful! It is situated in a great location just 40m from the Duomo. The views of the Sassi from our room and terrace above were breathtaking! Everything was close by with easy walking, tours, restaurants etc. The palace rooms are an architectural delight with arched ceilings and everything in our room was an artful blend of new and antique- great modern comfy bed, incredible modern shower, some lovely cupboard doors etc. The terrace with views all around was incredible! Breakfast was offered, buffet style, serving everything anyone could possible eat at breakfast including your eggs snd bacon for Westerners. Overall, in our 4 yrs touring Italy, this was a 10+++ accommodation including such lovely and caring staff!

The location in the middle of town was fantastic and the fact that we could park our hire car on site was a bonus. The breakfast was lovely with great options for gluten free diets. The hotel was quiet and well equipped.

The hotel was smoking free except the bar upstairs where people were smoking when we went to have a drink which was disappointing. It would be easier to provide a map with detailed information to find the hotel as the written instructions were not clear (and I accept that they were in English and not Italian which is your first language) but getting to the hotel caused us a lot of stress until the kind staff came on a moped to direct us (thank you for that!).

Amazing location to walk around the old city and the sassi. Plenty of restaurants, shops, viewpoints, etc. within short walking distance. The property was absolutely gorgeous, and the collection of artwork makes you feel like you're staying overnight in a museum. My wife and I were amazed. The breakfast is delicious, and the view from the rooftop is stunning, especially at sunset. There happened to be a classical music festival, on our floor, the night we were there, and we were offered free tickets... It was a unique experience and we really enjoyed it. The lady that checked us in and out was extremely friendly and helpful, as was Giuseppe. The directions to get to the hotel via car were great, and we had no problems. We were able to park at the hotel, which was very convenient.

The location overlooking Matera is breathtakingly stunning. The palazzo has been thoughtfully renovated, the floors are beautiful throughout. The staff are friendly, helpful and professional. The room was huge with a separate sitting area, the bedroom is comfortable and very quiet. The view from the rooftop bar terrace was incredible. The breakfast was excellent and the entire first floor is filled with artwork and antiques. We loved it. The onsite secure parking is a welcome benefit.

The bathroom lighting was awful and the bathrooms generally could do with updating and modernising. The rooftop bar was disappointing, it could be really fabulous and a major draw for the hotel as it has easily the best views around.

Good instructions for getting to the hotel. The location is next to Matera cathedral, you can see the bell tower from the third floor roof top. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Our room was massive and looked out over the countryside. We could walk to the Duomo within 1-2 minutes. Breakfast was great with all you could eat. Equally well we could visit the sassi within 8-10 minutes. The restaurant for our evening meal was arranged by the hotel and was at La Terrassa a 7-8 minutes walk from the hotel. Great meal and we discovered that there were caverns hewn out of the rock that we visited after our meal.

This is a really lovely renaissance palazzo in a fantastic position in Matera. I was there for a conference, and drove - so the fact that they have parking was a huge plus. That being said, it is tricky to find. I parked in a lot and walked to it when I arrived, then went back for the car once I knew what I was doing. The staff were exceptionally kind and helpful, my room was lovely, and the position in town is hard to beat. The rooftop bar has a great, if windy, view.

The breakfast was pretty pedestrian.

Great and impressive palazzo. Historical. Has a parking courtyard near Piazza il Duomo. Hard to reach by car, though. Poor signaling to reach property. Staff was Overall, a good place to stay, but a few details on the side of management could make it outstanding. Good experience, though. Matera is a site worth visiting and the Palazzo a great place to be while visiting.

It is a very nice place indeed, even when it looks like a middle age building everything inside is well maintain and beautiful! the breakfast Its just a couple hours, but they have everything and the breakfast room is very nice! The view from the terrace is amazing!

We get a little late for breakfast, around 9.40am (open up to 10am), and there were some dishes unavailable already... so, get there early :) A little car will be more suitable, streets are narrow and parking limited... nothing bad just things to consider.

On booking.com it stated that you could pre book parking. When I contacted the hotel they said that was not possible. This was one of the main reasons that we booked the hotel. Breakfast finished at 10.00am. We were there at 09.30 and there was literally nothing left! No offer to go to the kitchen to get something for us. We were advised that there was a roof top terrace which we were really looking forward to. There was no one serving when we arrived. Then later we were advised it was not open for guests, only for private parties. Very disappointing

Situated in a beautifully renovated old palace with staffing and service levels way above what we paid. Very much an off season rental - bar was closed etc... but a great stay. Very well situated in the middle of the restricted access area of the town, easy access to many of the troglodyte houses. The hotel provides parking at €30 per night, but worth the convenience (you have to follow a specific route to get to the hotel to avoid fines and they have to inform the local police of your number plate...)
