Good instructions for getting to the hotel. The location is next to Matera cathedral, you can see the bell tower from the third floor roof top. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Our room was massive and looked out over the countryside. We could walk to the Duomo within 1-2 minutes. Breakfast was great with all you could eat. Equally well we could visit the sassi within 8-10 minutes. The restaurant for our evening meal was arranged by the hotel and was at La Terrassa a 7-8 minutes walk from the hotel. Great meal and we discovered that there were caverns hewn out of the rock that we visited after our meal.

On booking.com it stated that you could pre book parking. When I contacted the hotel they said that was not possible. This was one of the main reasons that we booked the hotel. Breakfast finished at 10.00am. We were there at 09.30 and there was literally nothing left! No offer to go to the kitchen to get something for us. We were advised that there was a roof top terrace which we were really looking forward to. There was no one serving when we arrived. Then later we were advised it was not open for guests, only for private parties. Very disappointing

It is a very nice place indeed, even when it looks like a middle age building everything inside is well maintain and beautiful! the breakfast Its just a couple hours, but they have everything and the breakfast room is very nice! The view from the terrace is amazing!

We get a little late for breakfast, around 9.40am (open up to 10am), and there were some dishes unavailable already... so, get there early :) A little car will be more suitable, streets are narrow and parking limited... nothing bad just things to consider.

Situated in a beautifully renovated old palace with staffing and service levels way above what we paid. Very much an off season rental - bar was closed etc... but a great stay. Very well situated in the middle of the restricted access area of the town, easy access to many of the troglodyte houses. The hotel provides parking at €30 per night, but worth the convenience (you have to follow a specific route to get to the hotel to avoid fines and they have to inform the local police of your number plate...)

By mistake, we booked Palazzo Viceconte in Matera and it was by far the best choice. We had a suit and a junior suit for our family, and we were astonished to receive 3 royal rooms. The staff was extremely friendly, eager to help no matter the problem. We served breakfast on the third floor teracce with breathtaking view of the city. We highly recommend the hotel, and definitely we are hoping to go back.

We liked everything.

The building is wonderful and historical, centrally located just off the Duomo square for seeing the Stassi. A huge plus for us was that the hotel hosts concerts in one of the many large rooms on the first floor, and they were free to us to attend. The staff was lovely, as were the owners who we had a chance to talk with. Breakfast was excellent, too.

This is a tiny thing: The shower/tub set up was a poor design choice. It’s one of those half doors, but the glass is not fixed, so it swings. I guess the idea is you can swing it to enter the shower. But a puddle was inevitable. They could use a vertical bar for safety, too.

OUTSTANDING EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE!!! What a special, spectacular place!! The Palace is breathtakingly beautiful, all the rooms - public and private are gorgeously decorated, literally fit for Royalty and the owners and staff are wonderful, lovely people ..you will be so happy to have met them!! Bravissimo!!!!

Everything is perfect

What a strange and wonderful place! It was like a mystery that you had to unfold! Beautiful public rooms full of paintings and antiquities, a stunning roof deck, a charming breakfast room with a lovely breakfast. What a singular location with eerie cries of birds swirling above the property at dusk, a location seemingly on top of the world. The rooms were very comfortable, the staff was friendly and professional, and we couldn't have hoped for a better place from which to explore Matera!

This place is wonderful. Easy to find and central to everything. The breakfast is really good and what a spread! We were sad to have only spent 1 night. You will enjoy the terrace views and the breakfast room. Unfortunately, the bar on the terrace was closed but from there you will be able to see a spectacular view of Matera. Highly recommended.

The building and the location are stunning, so as the rooms some of which have a panoramic view over the Sassi. Very nice and friendly staff and a very good level of service overall. The hotel has its own parking which is a huge plus as you can forget your car for the duration of your stay here.

Devil is in the detail. Our room lacked a bit of care in the accessories. There was no kettle or coffee machine for the spontaneous coffee or tea; there only is a hook for one towel in the bathroom with the remainder of towels having to find a place in the small rack near the bathtub. It means used towels and fresh ones have to go on the same rack. Last but not least the breakfast is not on par with other 4* rated hotels. Choice is rather poor although the quality is generally very good.
