Excellent location for visiting the city, and parking was available round the corner (although it cost an extra 20 euros a night). Very quirky with bikes and mopeds all over the place and glass floors and a glass lift. The breakfast was enormous with both sweet and savoury delights. And the service was on the whole very good.

Our room was clean and comfortable enough, although in common with many hotels there were no shelves or bedside tables to put things on. We did also have an occasional unpleasant smell from the drains in the bathroom.

Our experience at this hotel in Palermo was absolutely amazing from start to finish. The hospitality we received went above and beyond anything we expected. The staff was incredibly attentive, answering every question we had with warmth and genuine care. They gave us great recommendations for places to visit, which made our trip even more special. What really stood out was the personal touch. We had an extremely early flight—around 5 AM—and to our surprise, they prepared breakfast and brought it to our room well before we had to leave. That level of thoughtfulness is rare and deeply appreciated. The whole atmosphere felt more like staying with family than just booking a hotel. It was cozy, loving, and very welcoming. We truly felt cared for throughout our stay. We will absolutely recommend this place to everyone we know, and we’re already looking forward to coming back. Secure parking, staff very helpful, in old town, medieval streets, assisted with parking very impressed! Breakfast continental, amazing, pastries and fruit, great Cappuccino! Location the best, close to Norman Palace, Cathedral, Quatra Conti, the four corners, offered upgrade room and late checkout, staff were very helpful!

All the staff are extremely friendly and very helpful, helping arrange taxis and days away from Palermo, whilst advising you how to get around the city. Breakfast is great with a variety of pastries and meats along with fruit and juices and lovely coffee. Room was lovely and very clean. Location is just off the beaten path but within a 5 minute walk of the cathedral through a lovely park, the markets are a short walk with the marina a little further. Lots of bars and restaurants on all routes to ease the journeys along.

The staff are amazing and incredibly welcoming and friendly. We were treated to a glass of wine and cake while we waited for our room. The hotel was originally a chapel and then a local bakery and was beautifully restored. Everywhere you look is a piece of history, from mosaic tiles to viewing old roman foundations through suspended perspex floors. Our room was artisenial rustic chic, but very comfortable and quiet. The breakfast spread was amongst the best I have ever had, many local specialities and great coffee. Our only problem was that we had to rush to catch a flight otherwise we would have savoured it for longer as a great start to the day. The hotel is located such that there is sharp contrast depending on which way you leave the hotel. If you turn right (and right again) you are touching distance to the manicured Plazza della Vittoria, from where you can easily walk down Vitttrio Emanuele, via the Cathedral, to the Quatro Cante and the lively centre of old Palermo. Turning left you can walk down Porto di Castro to the sensory overload of (and to the uninitiated, intimidating) Markets of Piazza Ballaro.

The hotel is a beacon of aesthetic on a street that has quite a dilapidated look. While it is the nature of the markets area, you can't help but feel that walking down towards the markets at night would not be a good idea. That being said, we experienced no problems whatsoever and really enjoyed our stay.

We had the most remarkable experience here because the staff is excellent. They are personable, accommodating, and truly engaged with their guests. Our rooms were upgraded without even making a request; I think simply because better rooms were available. We had to catch a plane before the normal breakfast hours, so the desk agent made a tray and brought it to our room the night before--we didn't even need to ask. The hotel is built in a 15th century church, parts of which remain visible in a beautiful display of preservation ingenuity.

The street around the entrance is a little off-putting. There are trash bins just outside the front door, for example. It is a little unsettling to find your way to some of the rooms and the pool, but once there, it is delightful.

Fantastic experience. The owner Alessandro was so welcoming and supportive . Nothing was too much trouble for him or his exceptionally friendly and kind staff. The hotel was spotless. Quirky and boutique style decor. The breakfasts were delicious , abundant with fresh fruit, assortment of hams cheeses and pastries. Gorgeous coffee. Beautiful decor. . The pool was spotless and v private . Hotel 3 mins away from the palace. Ideally located close to main shopping street . Easy walk to the colourful Balero market.

The location was very good, very close to the centre, the staff was very helpful and the breakfast best I ever had :)

In the room, there was no place where to put stuff. One small wardrobe for 1 person only. There was only one chair, not two, no real window on the toilet and disturbing mosquitos during night - last night there was the repelent in the plug in, which was very helpful. First night was disturbed by upstairs neighbours, long noises till 2oclock at night..

This hotel is AWESOME :-) The location is ideal, very close to all main walking and site seeing highlights. There are must-do local eateries along the side streets too, including the Palermo sandwich with sausage and potatoes. The staff were absolutely Wonderful! They communicated in advance to welcome me and coordinate my arrival time as well as early breakfast and airport transportation needs. Hotel concierge Dahliylay (Dalila, sp.?) was extraordinary professional, thoughtful (and beautiful) by helping to make sure my taxi was waiting, and I had breakfast available. I was upgraded to an enhanced suite via Booking.com the day before my arrival. When I arrived, I was invited to check in (early). My room had a very cute balcony and other lovely comfortable features that made my stay perfect. I would highly, highly, highly recommend Porta di Castro any time!

Everything was truly fantastic! Maybe just a cleaning touch up for the outdoor pool furniture.

Hotel was nice with vintage vibe, great central location right in the old town. Amazing breakfast, we were served multiple plates with local foods, varied from savory to sweet, fruits and great coffee. Room was sufficient. Staff was really nice, they even offered sooner check in as the room was available sooner.

Room was okay but quite small, there was not enough storage room. Bathroom was divided by glass rotating door only, which was quite inconvenient as it was not fully divided from the room. Hotel halls were narrow and dark, overall feel was like in the old apartment building not as the luxurious hotel.
