The view is beautiful, but we especially enjoyed the professionally decorated apartment ( the lower level of the house). Most of the furniture is built in and very cleverly designed. Everything is color coordinated, down to the smallest things. The three bathrooms are also different and they match the respective bedrooms. One of them has an indoor jacuzzi., another one has a shelf with soaps arranged like a sculpture garden. Every room has a tea maker and a thermos with cups, plates, spoons, napkins , nicely arranged on a tray, again on a color coordinated runner. There are two bedrooms and a spacious living room. All open to the garden. The living room has a foldout sofa, refrigerator, coffee maker, dining table and chairs. The table was laden with all kind of goodies( very nicely arranged) when we arrived. We even got freshly made pizza from the host. We were 3 people, mother, daughter and son, all adults, so we slept in separate rooms, (all clean)very comfortably. The garden looked also professionally landscaped. It had a very nice view of the surrounding hills and the sea. It had a gazebo with a table and chairs for outdoor dining, a jacuzzi and a hammock in front of the covered porch. The porch had several sitting arrangements with coffee tables. Again, all looked very professionally designed. We were warned about the height of the garage, but it accommodated our SUV. The road to the house is fairly narrow, but we had no problem to drive to Rapallo.

It is a spectacular and wonderful villa. The rooms are modern and the highest standard, with every luxury. The host is delightful and very welcoming. After weeks traveling in Europe this is the finest place we’ve stayed. A 10 rating does not do it justice, and it should be an 11 or higher. It is absolutely quiet for a good night’s sleep, and the views are amazing. We would love to stay more than two nights, but Florence, Tuscany, and Rome beckon, but we won’t find any place as good I’m sure. Thank you!

Gorgeously equipped villa with fantastic view and all comforts provided. Lucilla the hostess is welcoming, generous with her welcome food and unobtrusive ( lives above). We had a lovely time cycling the hills nearby and walking to portofino and through the cinque terre villages. Trains are super easy to get around on but parking in the garage is fine. Suggest small car for Italy!

Nothing… the loo seats are not soft closing? That’s literally all I can think of!! Also would have loved the hot tub in February but it was clear in advert that seasonal.

Villa Mares was definitely more than what we expected. Although the drive up was rather narrow, the views from the villa was amazing. We were greeted by the very friendly host, Lucilla, who welcomed us and gave us a tour of the estate. In addition, she welcomed us with some piping hot bread/pizza when we arrived. We loved the pleasant colour scheme of the rooms and the villa was fully furnished with practically everything. There are 2 bedrooms and 3 toilets/baths and very nicely designed. What we were impressed with was how every room had separate air conditioning and heaters too (very important especially since we went there in spring and it was cold). The mattress and pillows were so good, we had one of the best sleep in Italy in Villa Mares. We have to say that everything was very well-thought and designed and would highly recommend to book this place in Rapallo. Plus, it is only a 20 minutes drive to Portofino.

A beautifully decorated house with spectacular views and well maintained garden. Facilities are like in a 5 star hotel, the place really exceeded our expectations. Lucilla, the hostess, was really friendly and welcoming and made us feel like at home. Amazing palace - can not praise enough, would highly recommend!

Everything, Luccila was an amazing host! Very friendly and his apartment was pristine, very beautiful and had a lot of little personal touches that made our stay a lot more special. Will definitely recommend this to friends and family.

Beautiful, well equipped and comfortable. The host was so welcoming and had wonderful breakfast items for us as well as Prosecco and snacks upon arrival. The garage was very convenient and the view was perfect. Everything was as described!! I loved the third bathroom - it was like a spa and the host had robes for all of us. Would highly recommend and will hopefully come back a again!!

The mother daughter combination running this amazing place were very friendly and accommodating. They were also very helpful with recommendations when we asked! We loved it ! Lots of great character and history and the views!!

Wonderful place with great view, beautiful garden, so well maintained and appointed. High tech interior fittings and spa-like amenities. Wonderful friendly host who made sure our visit was special!

We had a perfect stay at Villa Mares. It is a beautiful villa located above Rapallo with a lush green garden perfect for sitting outside and drink good Italian wine. Our room was really nice decorated and equipped with everything you need and the cherry on the top was our outstanding bathroom. Lucilla is an amazing host with all her nice tips for places to visit not only in Rapallo/ forget Portofino, Camogli was highlit of our trip/. We also loved breakfast served on the upper terrace with a stunnig sea view. We would definitely reccomend this place to anyone. Daniela and Pavol G.
