Exceptional!! The location was perfect for visiting nearby attractions and in central Castelrotto. Parking was very convenient at the back of hotel at an extra small fee. Rooms very clean and spacious. Ours was facing the back with mountain views. Breakfast was excellent too. I couldn't have certain things cause of my lactose intolerance but I had a good choice of fresh fruit (melon, prunes and blueberries to name a few ) and had a choice of fried or scrambled eggs. Reception personnel were very welcoming and helpful. Our stay at Hotel zum Wolf made our holiday even more pleasurable. Also, our favourite restaurant was just a few minutes walk away.

Nestled in the picturesque heart of Castelrotto, Italy, this hotel stands as a testament to beauty, comfort, and impeccable service. From the moment we arrived, I was enveloped in an atmosphere of warmth and elegance that set the tone for my entire stay. Our room was spacious and immaculately clean, it featured a charming balcony. One aspect that particularly impressed me was the daily housekeeping service. It is quite rare to find such attentive service in mountain regions, but at this hotel, towels were changed every single day and the bed was meticulously made. This consistent level of care and attention contributed greatly to the overall comfort of my stay. What truly sets this hotel apart is the meticulous attention to detail. Every aspect of our stay was thoughtfully curated to ensure the highest level of comfort and satisfaction. From the cleanliness of the rooms to the quality of the food, no detail was overlooked. This dedication to perfection made my holiday not just comfortable, but memorable. The breakfast experience at this hotel is truly unparalleled. Each morning, I was greeted with a delightful array of local bio products, carefully selected for their quality and taste. The spread included fresh bread and cakes of different sortiment, bio eggs which you can boil to your taste, creamy butter, a variety of succulent fruits of really great quality with fantastic taste (apricots, strawberries, melone), delectable cheeses, simply delicious big marinated plums, flavorful yogurts. And the Mr. Cappuccino – it was simply divine, the perfect start to each day. One of the highlights of my stay was the exceptional service provided by Veronika. Her kindness and dedication were evident in every interaction. She took the time to explain the origins of the food served at breakfast, highlighting the hotel’s commitment to sourcing the best local products. Her attention to detail and passion for hospitality greatly enhanced my experience.

The breakfast was excellent value for cost, with local products (jams, honey, cheese and meats), a variety of fresh bread options, teas, juices and more - notable with eggs made to order. The facilities were perfectly clean and room sizes very large and accommodating, with full baths. The parking was a little tight, but suitable for the size of the hotel and you are provided with your own space for the duration of your stay. While the bar hours are limited, there is an honesty bar of spirits, local beers and wines, and non-alcoholic beverages that you can access outside of service hours. It is in a central location in the very small village of Castelrotto, one front face of the building on the central village streets, the back face of the building to the “bus station”, which is not truly a station and is very quiet. This means immediate access to the center and to the bus station - this is an important convenience if you are coming for winter sports, as it is a 10 minute drive to the nearest lift. Definitively excellent value for the cost, which is predictable and not subject to smart pricing fluctuations as of the writing of this review.

The staff was efficient and professional. The location was perfect. They provided bus passes to allow use of the transportation to anywhere we wanted to go. Beatrix, at reception , was super friendly and helpful answering any of our questions. Breakfast each day was a beautiful buffet spread with meats, cheese, fruit, yogurt and cereal. Coffees were varied and plentiful.

Convenient location right in town and just a few steps away from the ski bus. The staff were warm, welcoming, and helpful. The rooms, lobby and bar/lounge are cozy and traditional and we felt very comfortable. The breakfast was very nice.

To criticize anything would be being picky because overall it suited our needs very well. Of course it would have been nice to have a sauna or hot tub after ski days, and the beds were a tad firm for my liking and with only one pillow per person. But really none of this negatively impacted our stay and the hotel was a good value.

The hotel was beautiful and tasteful. My wife and I stayed here for 6 nights as part of our honeymoon trip, and we wish we had booked for longer. The room and beds were comfortable and clean. The view from our room's terrace looking out onto the Dolomites was breathtaking. A perfect rainbow formed over the valley every time it rained. The location was also excellent for going out to restaurants or regular cultural/musical events in the area by foot. Breakfast was outstanding. The staff was exceptionally friendly and hospitable to us and felt like you are a part of this family running the hotel! We had such a relaxing time, and definitely want to stay at this hotel again. Zum nächsten mal!

The staff here is absolutely wonderful and the location can't be beat. We felt right at home. The breakfast every morning had a huge selection and they cooked eggs to order and also made fresh cappuccinos for us. The hotel is a one minute walk to the bus pick up and the hotel provided free bus passes during our stay so we had access to all the beautiful mountains and hikes. The town itself is charming and looks like something out of a storybook. Our room had tons of storage and places to put our luggage and personal items. We loved the view of the surrounding mountains from our balcony and could wake up and see the sunrise every morning. There scenery could not be more perfect.

It was unseasonably warm during our visit so we missed having air conditioning, but they did provide a table top fan. The lighting in the room itself and hallways could be brighter. It would also have been nice to have a smart TV so we had access to channels in other languages and could also watch videos about the area.

Hands down, this is the best hospitality I’ve ever received from a hotel. My wife and I were given free bus passes for the area during our three day/night stay. Recommendations were given for hiking as well as side excursions during a day that was a rainout. Truly remarkable staff. Breakfast was outstanding. Eggs made to order along with a large European assortment of breads, cheeses, yogurts, and sliced meats. Coffee and assorted drinks available. My wife would order cappuccinos every morning. Additional features include laundry onsite (7 euros/load), a butcher next door that can make sandwiches to go (opens at 7 am), and a convenient location which also included a discount card to several nearby restaurants. There is a grocery store approximately 40 yards from the hotel that carries just about everything including wine. If you don’t want to walk to the grocery store, the hotel has a bar that is open until the early evening and then is self-serve after staff has left. The staff and options afforded to us “made” the Dolomite portion of our trip. Brian/USA

The Hotel zum Wolf is a fantastic little hotel in Castelrotto/Kastelruth. It is very clean, well organized and efficient. The breakfast is amazing and the rooms are very comfortable. The bar area is really nice as well. It’s the perfect gathering place after a day’s hike. The location is perfect - just up from the small bus station and it has excellent parking. Since this is Northern Italy German is spoken here along with English. Rick Steve’s says this hotel is “neat as a pin” and that is the perfect description. The room includes a free bus pass that can be used to get to a huge number of excellent hikes nearby.

It would be nice if the windows had screens. There are few bugs, but it’s hard to leave a window open all night when an odd mosquito or two could get in.

It is a great hotel and the room was exceptional - very clean, roomy and very good shower and bath. The staff were fantastic ensuring we had information for our stay and the breakfast was awesome. Fresh and great variety. Highly recommend this hotel.

Would have been good to have a small fridge in the room.
