I chose this hotel as a convenient stopover on my journey from Italy to Holland, and it turned out to be a delightful surprise. Nestled in a tiny, historic, and idyllic mountain town, the location is truly picturesque — like something out of a storybook. The hotel itself is housed in an older building, full of charm and character, with details that reflect its long-standing history. The rooms are decorated with vibrant, lively prints that might be a bit bold for some tastes, but I found them wonderfully artistic and full of personality. They added a unique flair to the overall experience. Just outside, you can take a beautiful walk through the winding streets of the village and follow a path up the mountain — the views along the way are stunning and well worth the effort. Conveniently, there’s a lift down the mountain located right next to the hotel. I didn’t use it myself, but it’s a great option for those who prefer not to take the car. The staff were exceptionally kind and welcoming, adding a warm and personal touch to the stay. The highlight, however, was the hotel’s restaurant. We opted for the five-course chef’s menu and it was nothing short of magnificent — a true fine dining experience with beautifully presented dishes and rich, balanced flavors. It was the perfect end to a memorable stay.

The bathroom could use some modernization, especially in the room I stayed in, which still had a shower curtain.

Location / mountain, cleanliness, staff friendliness, view, clean and tidy, big rooms, very quality restaurant and good chef!

Cost a little steep. If someone want to go out in the evenings - the vilage is very small so not much to do thus this location is probably not for you. One evening for some time there was quite a bit of cigarete smell from the inside smoking area in the floor near the restaurant (probably poor ventilation / extraction)

This property exudes old world charm, and the views are spectacular. The drive up the mountain to the hotel is a little bit shaky because of the narrow road and hairpin turns, but that’s part of the charm. Situated in a small village atop Santa Maria del Monte whose main focal point is a magnificent UNESCO recognized church covered with frescoes, statues and mosaics. One can spend the day exploring the history, streets and alleys of the village. And the majestic views from the hotel are stunning! Now, the Hotel restaurant - simply amazing! We had an “eight thoughts of the chef” experience that featured eight separate courses of divine creativity , superb presentation, attentive service and exquisite dining. The meal was magnificent and could have been better ONLY if it had been warm enough to dine al fresco. The decision to stay here was spur of the moment, and it was truly the highlight of our journey. we highly recommend Hotel Colonne!

breakfast buffet has room for improvement

The location of the hotel is amazing with incredible views - we booked room, breakfast and dinner, stayed for two nights. The dinner is served on a terrace that hangs over the edge of the hotel, the views and the ambiance create a wonderful lasting memory. A place to eat for a memorable occasion - the quality and presentation of the evening dinner is an absolute delight. Breakfast was taken on the terrace near the bar - a great selection. The staff were so helpful and well trained, the hotel is a great find!

Whilst we appreciate the painted shabby chic look and to a certain degree it suits the hotel, we felt the bedroom furniture let the amazing room (with a high ceiling and a terrace) down a little.

Amazing view over the valley, both from our room and balcony, as well as from the Restaurant. Nice, old-fashioned interiour. Friendly staff and the breakfast was great, too.

Challenging location to reach through narrow streets. Restaurant was expensive although the food was excellent.

Prime location, beautiful scenery, nice and clean hotel, sacred and historic site, and Michelin star restaurant with amazing chef Silvio Battistoni!

the location is so pretty with a great view of the mountain I wish I could stay longer, the restaurant was so good and when we arrived they made sure we are coming to eat before they close.

shower size small but room size is nice a big with a great balcony.

The staff were very welcoming. We wish we could have also had a chance to try the food there, it looked excellent, but we didn't get a chance as we were short on time:)
