Beautiful old hotel run by lovely people. Rooms were comfortable as were the two twin beds we had requested. The restaurant was amazing, which at first we thought was expensive but upon looking around the area we found it very competitive. People queued every night to get in to the restaurant so booking recommended. The included breakfast was fine for what we paid. The hotel was central to visit the areas we wanted to see.

The only fault we had was the lack of a comfortable area to sit inside. It was either the bar or your bedroom. It rained all day for one during our visits and we stayed in our room all day apart from lunch.

The staff was super friendly, the breakfast was incredible, the room was a descent size.

It wasn’t easy to find the door to the hotel. There is no sign. For some reason they keep it locked at all times and you need to ring the bell for someone to open. Weird. Most of the rooms are facing a very busy street and it can be quite loud from time to time. A solution for that is to keep the balcony door closed which is not ideal. Also the walls between the rooms are very thin since I was woken up multiple times by people showering and drying their hair at 3AM.

Great hotel and restaurant. Comfortable room with a very good air con, WiFi, nice little balcony. And I had all my dinners in their restaurant. A lot of choice, excellent service, very good home wine. The staff was really exceptional. The location is right in the center with a lot of places of interest nearby. I greatly enjoyed my stay and will be happy to come back! Grazie mille a tutti!

Everything was fine

Our host met us near the albergo and directed us to the secure parking area then helped take our bags to the lift which carried us to the first floor. We had lunch at the restaurant and ate there every day we were in Varese as the food was so good. I wish we could have stayed there for another week. Varese would be a good base to explore the Italian lakes. As it was, there was plenty to do, including the walk to Sacro Monte, 2kms of winding path past 14 glorious little chapels with views on every side. It would be worth doing the walk over a weekend as there is a museum at the top of the hill which looked very interesting but it's only open on Saturdays and Sundays.

Nothing to dislike

Well located hotel, which is within walking distance from the best shops and restaurants. We enjoyed our stay and wish we could have stayed longer, the restaurant serves a delicious breakfast and the staff is friendly and accommodating. It was a pleasure to stay at the Albergo Bologna.

The bed was not firm enough to my liking, but that is a matter of preference. The bed linens were of good quality and it was in general very comfortable.

I like a healthy breakfast, the muesli, seeds, dried and fresh fruit selection at the Albergo Bologna would embarrass most large modern hotels. which is why i personally choose the Bologna, the coffee is excellent, if you like cakes, croissants and local meats and cheeses, fresh bread etc its also a winner - however they dont offer cooked breakfast if that is your thing.

Parking, like most hotels in Verase is difficult - Its on a one way street and they do have limited parking which is first come first served. If you cant park its a long detour to the multi-storey which I use which is a 4 minute walk, 7 euros for the night, it closes at 10pm and opens about 7 so is fairly secure.

Breakfast is really good, with also cakes. They have a restaurant, but you should book a table because it's often full. The hotel is well located in the city centre. Staff commendable for the kindness.

For people moving with their own car, it may be considered that they do not have much room for car parking there

Stayed here twice now. We love this place. Great for USA or Brits. The staff is friendly. The rooms are bigger than typically found in Italia. The furniture is nice. The breakfast is very good. In the top 15% of breakfasts we've had in the 40+ days we've spent in Italia the past 2+ years.

Everything , even though room was small it was clean and comfortable.

Just 1 thing. In the restaurant they wouldn't serve the Antipasto Tradizionale della casa for 1 person. However it is clear on the menu that it's for 2. But 25 years ago I had stayed a few times there and could always get it. It was a big disappointment for me but I do understand why they have it for two, but aaaaaaaah.

The room was comfortable and above a fabulous restaurant in the middle of an unexpectedly beautiful little town. We had a great breakfast. All the staff were great. Could have spent longer exploring the town.

The bed was a little hard for my taste. But my husband slept really well
