We had a fantastic stay at Antico Portego. The location is very good. Restaurants are on every corner, delicious ice-cream across the road and the supermarket very near. The water bus stop is around 15 minutes away. It is easy from there to go to the islands of Murano (world famous in the production of glass) or/and Burano (beautiful colourful houses and handmade lace). The room was spotless and very comfortable. There was nothing we didn't like. We visited Venice in January. The heating worked well, the room was hot in minutes so we could relax and enjoy the deserved rest. There was a safe, a full fridge of complimentary drinks including a bottle of champagne (very romantic!) and all the toiletries we needed (the razor, toothbrushes, toothpastes, sewing kit....). Communication with the hotel was excellent (email, WhatsApp). We would love to come back to Antico Portego again! Big thanks from London.

Good location - 10 mins easy walk along the Main Street from train station. Only 1 bridge to cross so it’s not difficult for pulling luggage. It’s very quiet. Many restaurants nearby. Very large and extremely comfy bed. Beautiful retrofit design in an old building. Newly refurbished with effective thermostat and modern bathroom. It’s very thoughtful that they provided adequate drinks in the fridge for free.

There was no kettle but I saw a staff in the morning who helped find me one. Thanks to him but the limescale inside really need to be cleaned as it come out when water boiling. There is no coffee machine as stated in the booking platform.

The building was historic and beautiful, immaculately clean, convenient to everything I wanted to do. The staff were kind and efficient. It was just off of the busy street but very quiet. There were plenty of great restaurants within a 10 minute walk and also some great grocery markets. It is only about a 10 or 15 minute walk from the train station and you only have to cross one bridge. If you have mobility issues or heavy luggage, there is a graduated stairway next to the main stairs at the one bridge. I almost forgot the beautiful, modern shower and bathroom. Always a priority for me.

There were times when it was a little warm in the room but otherwise temperature control was good. Others have complained about mosquitoes. I did note only 2 mosquitoes during my stay there, but they were not in any way a problem. I did not get any mosquito bites and I was able to kill the two that did get in the room when they landed on the wall.

We loved this room and property. It was very spacious, elegant, functional and clean with beautiful toiletries which included toothbrushes, a shaving kit and shoe shine. They also provided a mini bar free of charge with water, beer and prosecco. It was very quiet, extremely close to the train station (walkable with a ramp up the only bridge you beed to cross) and in a less busy part of Venice. Would stay here again. They stored our luggage and had our room ready early for us which we appreciated.

There wasn't a coffee machine but we survived. We would have liked to stay there longer.

Property was a little difficult to find at first, but the directions provided by the hotel did help. Eva was lovely but did not speak much English, so we were unsure how we pay for our room. We had to check out earlier than 8am and so could not pay at check out as there are only staff there between certain times but I messaged to advise this and the payment was taken from the card on my account later that day which worked out fine. The property was beautiful and quiet. Rarely heard any other guests. The room was a great size with everything we needed, a lovely little private terrace and complementary drinks in the mini fridge, as well as tea/coffee. The room was cleaned every day, and fresh towels, etc, provided where needed. The ceilings in the room and main entrance area were stunning. The bed was big and comfortable enough. The shower took a little while to heat up but was fine after that and had good pressure. It was easy to get in and out of the hotel at any time with the key card and it is located in an excellent area for food, drinks, shops etc.

Beautiful bathroom, nice design in the sleeping room, awesome blackout curtains, good location (if you are going to use vaporetto a lot, then the location is very good), friendly and welcoming staff

These are just personal preferences and didn’t affect our overall enjoyment: the entrance door was a bit noisy when you enter the hotel (though you can’t hear it from the room), the bedding setup was a bit unusual with a blanket wrapped in sheets instead of a plain duvet cover, and there was only one trash can, located in the bathroom.

Fabulous room. Very large, with antique, but very comfortable, furniture. Thoroughly modern and spacious bathroom. The fridge contained drinks which were free for guests - very thoughtful. The location was wonderful, very easy to access other parts of Venice, including the train station, which was about 10 minutes walk away.

I find it hard to criticize this accommodation. I would have liked a small table in the sitting room/foyer for placing drinks and so on while watching TV. Also a means to make a warm drink. These are quibbles in light of the excellence of the place.

Perfect room, we just loved it ! :) Beautifull interior - royal vibe mixed with modern style. All new, fresh and clean. Comfortable bed, amazing bathroom, loved the shower ! Surprising little compliments from hosts (cold drinks in fridge, with little snacks). Great location ! Good restaurants , fresh fruit shops and markets around. Everything in walking distance. We had everything for comfortable stay , definitely worth money and worth to coming back another time. Thank you !

Everything was amazing ! Maybe air conditioning system was a bit louder, than we wish. We suggest to have something with what we could clean balcony seats (because birds leaving unpleasant “gifts”) Otherwise place was really enjoyable.

Breakfast was not included, but there were so many coffee, shops, cafés, and restaurants close by really never had a problem with eating out. The hotel was under construction so the lobby was not that inviting there wasn’t any restaurant or coffee or any morning food.

There’s a difficult time checking in that anybody’s problem our problem that we do not speak Italian, but we did finally get checked in most of it was online so that’s always a little hard. There was a person there that let us in, but then we took a while for us to get over the lined up online to actually get the key to the room once we were in and everything was fine.

We didn’t have breakfast but there were many great places to eat breakfast close to the hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful in every way. The room was well maintained, clean and comfortable. At a time that we were having trouble finding a place to stay, we can not understand why antico Portego still had a room available. The stay was amazing.

There wasn’t anything too much that we didn’t like but we could hear a little street chatter during the night. Even the chatter is not worth complaining about.
