This is a great 'four star' modern hotel used almost exclusively by Japanese people with very few Western tourists. Every room has an excellent view of Mt Fuji and each has a open bath on the veranda fed by the hot springs. This is in addition to a fully functioning and adequate bathroom. The bedroom it self is slightly larger than many Japan rooms and has storage facilities. You can literally wake up on the morning and look at Mt Fuji whilst still in bed (provided of course that the mountain is not covered in cloud!) The hotel utilises hot springs not only for its more public Onsen, but also four small private Onsens, in different themes, for those that wish to be more discrete. These are ideal for one/two people. They are all on a first come, first served basis. We tried both the public and private and they were an excellent cultural experience. The hotel is some distance for the main train station and the hotel, like many others runs a shuttle service. This shuttle ends at 6pm, so if you want to stay out you need to finds your own away back. For this reason, the hotel is based around half board (breakfast and dinner) in the restaurant. The breakfast was an extensive buffet style approach which was very good. Dinner was quite an experience. You can have either Japanese or Western style meal at tone of two set time settings. The food was quite exceptional. It's basically similar to a good seven course 'tasting menu.' We stayed for two nights and the food was different each night, but equally as good.

This is nothing to do directly to the hotel, however. There is a bar, but as this is generally overlooked by Japanese people, who go to bed very early, there is no life (or people ) in the bar. You need to be prepared to retire early after dinner, or go to the Onsen.

So many great things to say about this place. We absolutely loved the view of Mt Fuji - both from the room and the public spaces. The place itself is very well maintained and the rooms were very comfortable and spacious. So many bath options to choose from between the in-room bath, private baths (e.g. bamboo bath, mosaic tile bath), and public baths and saunas. Nice little touches like free wine in the lounge, free probiotic drinks while going to the baths, and free shuttles to and from the station. Highly recommend the breakfast if staying here. Would definitely stay here again!

Everything at this hotel was so special! We really enjoyed our night as a couple, and this stay had exceeded our expectations in many ways from the shuttle service which was very convenient and well organized to the check in with all the welcome drinks and wines, the full course dinner with the view of Fuji was jaw dropping!!!! The room was so beautiful we had taken the one with the private bath on our balcony. A lot of staff were able to communicate in english, which made many transactions easier. The 5 different onsens were truly a good highlight of our stay. Would highly recommend this place and would definitely come back again.

Unparalleled view of Mt Fuji in the lobby, in our room's balcony and bath! Charming European countryside inspired interior. Good balance of color, space and flow. I particularly like the color schemes of the bedroom and the tiles of the vanity sink and the ofuro bath. Well heated all throughout in the hotel. The private onsens were an interesting experience. Breakfast buffet had a large selection of food and drinks. The houtou was amazing! Staff were warm and very helpful. Free coffee & welcome drinks and afternoon snacks in the lobby. Check out at 11AM. Ample time to lounge in your room after breakfast. Free shuttle bus to and from Kawaguchiko Station.

I don't particularly dislike the remote location but no garden or library to explore. The private onsens need to be renovated and refreshed. Sometimes the onsen water doesn't free flow. French course dinner was a mixed bag. The hors d'oeuvres & dessert were fantastic but other than that it was so-so. Needs a variety of snacks such as otsumami, mini pies or quiches in the lobby.

The hotel was very nice, with a lovely European aesthetic. They have very nice public baths, which are large and offer fantastic views of Mt. Fuji. We personally didn't use the public baths, but we did have a look at what they were like. Additionally, they also have private baths with a variety of themes to enjoy, which again, we just had a look at. We stayed in one of their best rooms, which has a private hot tub available on the balcony of the room, which also offers fantastic views of Mt. Fuji. That is why we opted to not use the public baths during our stay. The room itself was very nice and cosy, sticking to the European aesthetic of the hotel as a whole. Everything was tidy and clean, and the furniture; comfortable. The staff adhered to my special request, and made great effort in carrying it out. For breakfast, they have the usual Japanese onsen hotel buffet set-up. The food was all very nice, and there were both plenty of options and plenty available for guests. The dinner was not too bad, as the food was perfectly fine in flavour, and was well presented. However, it lacked the 'Wow Factor' as they stuck to purely local, seasonal ingredients, which is perfectly fine. But for the atmosphere they are aiming for, that of a fancy French restaurant, it didn't quite hit the mark. The available amenities were very nice, as they offered a variety of "free" items, including wine during a specific time period, as well as ramen for a late night snack/guests arriving to the hotel late at night. Additionally, during the daytime, there are hot drinks available. Overall, I highly recommend the hotel, especially for couples.

Nothing to say in regards to dislikes. For the room, a purely minor thing, that being some dust on the top of the sliding door going into the bathroom. It was likely pulled free from in-between the door and frame and wall. For those looking to get out and about around Kawaguchiko's town, it's not a very convenient location. However, they do have a free shuttle bus, which is great. If you are looking to just hangout around the hotel and relax, or go for walks around the local parks and along the lakeside, it's a wonderful location.

loved the view from the lobby, breakfast, room size was spacious, open air bath on the patio, view of the lake and mountain from the room. it exceeded my expectations because the view was fabulous, and i was nervous that the images of the 'room' had so many variations i was scared i wouldnt get a private bath view of the volcano, but when we walked into the room I was so happy! it was clear and beautiful each morning and night to sit in the bath and just stare at the view. It was a perfect place to get away from the busy city and just relax in nature

the location is up a hill, its nice so it looks down of the area and feels secluded. however to walk to/from the property to the lake area for the momiji festivities was a bit difficult. the area is very gorgeous with nature but along with that was big scary spiders, and i am scared of spiders so i did not enjoy that

This place was amazing, and probably one of the best hotels we stayed at in Japan. The location was fantastic to be able to see the magnificence of Mount Fuji. It’s called La Vista for a very good reason. It has a gorgeous and stunning view of the mountain. We loved the public onsen, as well as our own private onsen in our room with a gorgeous view of Mt. Fuji. Breakfast was fantastic. We tried the gourmet dinner as well and it was very good. We loved that they had wine and coffee available in the afternoons. The staff were very helpful to assist us in arranging dinner reservations and for a taxi.

The decor is a little older, but it’s quaint and clean. Be sure to take advantage of the free shuttle from Kawaguchiko station to the hotel, because otherwise you’ll need to pay for a taxi. And everything I’ve heard about restaurants near the hotel is true. There aren’t very many and they are difficult to get to unless you hire a taxi. You probably want to make reservations for dinner at the hotel at least on the first night while you get acquainted with the area and figure out your plans for dinner on additional nights.

The hotel is far from the attractions in Fujikawaguchiko, but the hotel itself is beautiful. Be sure to stock up on snacks beforehand or book a reservation with the hotel's restaurant in advance, as there weren't many restaurants open nearby when we stayed (early in the week). According to Google Maps, it looked like there were more restaurants nearby for dinner later in the week. The closest 7-11 is about a 10-15 minute (fast walk) away. The private onsens were awesome and well-maintained. You do not need to book them in advance. There were popsicles available in the evening, and probiotics drinks in the morning. The hotel offers complimentary snacks (biscuits, juice, and wine) in the evening (6:00 pm to 7:00 pm) and ramen later on in the night.

A taxi to Kawaguchiko Station cost about ¥2,500. The hotel has a shuttle bus service, but they are pretty stringent with booking in advance. Inquire beforehand about shuttle bus times - they start at 2:00 pm in the afternoon from the station and there are some shuttles that run in the morning. At other hotels we've stayed at in Japan, we could use shuttle buses freely without a set of rules. It seems like most hotel patrons don't take advantage of the shuttle bus services (not including La Vista). We were the only people on the hotel's shuttle bus one morning. Also note - there is a language barrier with the staff. Compared to other Japanese hotels, the staff wasn't as friendly.

Absolutely stunning hotel! WOW! The design is so beautiful and welcoming. We had a great experience right from the start. The drive to the hotel is scenic and serene. It is located on the side of a hill overlooking a beautiful little town at the foot of Mt. Fuji. We were greeted kindly by staff who helped guide us into their parking lot. The staff were very kind and helpful as we checked in and were greeted by complimentary wine and welcome juice (available between 1:00-7:00 daily). The rooms at La Vista were HUGE (especially the double) with the loveliest views. We were glad to have stayed 2 nights here. If we had only stayed one night, we would not have been able to see Mt. Fuji (despite it being so close!) due to the fog. However, in the afternoon of our second day, the clouds cleared, the fog lifted, the sun came out, and we had breathtaking views! The balcony bathtub and complimentary bath salts were incredible and relaxing. The public onsen is nice, but the private onsens really helped add to the relaxation of our experience. The private onsens are well organized, clean, and accessible (and free of charge). The walk down to the waterfront promenade was relatively easy and we found an adorable and beautiful cafe garden by the water. *Please ask La Vista staff for a map of the area; they will provide you with an adorable hand-drawn map with their recommendations. We chose to go to town instead of eating the fancy French meal at the hotel and we did not regret it. Walk down from the hotel and veer to the right. We found the walkway down to the water and took lovely pictures by the lake. There is a really cute French Bakery just a 10 minute walk down from the hotel, too. Great stay, beautiful rooms, good wine, cute town, and very relaxing!

I think the rooms were slightly expensive. They truly are gorgeous, but I would have appreciated a lower price point. I was also a little shocked to see small children running around and dripping ice cream all over the floor of the elevator and the spa area. I did not really want to use the onsen after them. In my opinion, this hotel really should be an adults only hotel.

Our stay at La Vista FujiKawaguchiko was truly unforgettable. The hotel is situated in an exceptionally peaceful and picturesque location, offering breathtaking views of Mount Fuji right from the room. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed — the check-in process was very fast, and the staff were extremely courteous and friendly. Prior to our arrival, the hotel staff kindly arranged a shuttle bus reservation for us. The shuttle operates several times a day between Kawaguchiko Station and the hotel, making access very convenient. This small but thoughtful gesture immediately set the tone for a highly attentive and hospitable service throughout our stay. The hotel lobby features a charming little shop, a 24-hour coffee machine, and during specific times, complimentary desserts and wine are served — a delightful touch that made us feel pampered. Our room was exceptional: traditional yet luxurious, with an electric fireplace adding a cozy atmosphere. The private open-air bath on the balcony, overlooking Mount Fuji, was an extraordinary experience. The hotel thoughtfully provides comfortable pajamas, which guests are encouraged to wear not only in their rooms but also while visiting the restaurant and spa areas — a unique and relaxing custom that adds to the homely and welcoming ambiance of the hotel. La Vista FujiKawaguchiko exceeded all our expectations. Every detail, from the stunning decor to the attentive service, was perfectly designed to create an atmosphere of pure relaxation and enjoyment. In conclusion, we wholeheartedly recommend La Vista FujiKawaguchiko to anyone seeking an exceptional, serene, and authentic Japanese hospitality experience with unforgettable views of Mount Fuji.

As for breakfast, although the selection was wide and varied, some dishes did not exactly match our personal taste. However, this is a minor subjective point and did not affect our overall impression — we were always able to find something satisfying to eat.
