Our room was perfect for our family of four-loves the mix of Western and Traditional Japanese. The robes were lovely to lounge around the room in and we enjoyed the room service and buffet breakfast. Staff throughout the hotel were exceptional and language wasn’t too much of a barrier. The Onsen was simple and calming and the locker rooms were super clean and well stocked. Only downside is the location, while serene, is far from activities. We only stayed for one night but I’d staying longer, I think a hotel shuttle to town would be a nice addition. We stayed on the 5th floor and some the carpeting in the hallway was a bit worn and there was some mold in our bathroom (not a huge deal but a simple vent or dehumidifier would solve this issue). The architecture throughout the building is stellar and there are a lot of nice details. We loved our welcome drinks and the baby-friendly cribs and diaper pails. The breakfast buffet was so good-the first perfectly cooked bacon and scrambled eggs we had in Japan. All in all a nice stay and we look forward to returning!

As to be expected from Hyatt this is beautiful hotel with excellent service and facilities. We had a view of the top of Mount Fuji from our room which was really lovely. The room was very spacious and comfortable. I had read a couple of reviews beforehand about getting to the hotel and still thought that me and my husband could get all the way there on public transport as we are both quite fit and we walk a lot. However even we struggled a bit with our suitcases! The roads are very steep around the hotel and many of them don't have proper pavements so I would advise getting a taxi or driving. The hotel arranged a taxi for us to Odawara Station on the way back, which took about 25 mins and wasn't very expensive. We also didn't know that public transport in Hakone seems to stop by 6pm each day, so just be aware of that when making plans for your trip!

The reception and bell hop were very helpful advising how to take in the local sites. I had the onsen to myself. The rooms were perfect for four of us. My daughters loved the tatami style rooms with a sliding door partition to give them privacy. The complimentary shuttle was very convenient dropping us off and picking us up from the cable car station and open air museum as well as dropping us to Odwara train station.

The shuttle bus driver should check who he is picking up and the number of passengers as we called for a transfer from the open air museum only to have to chase down the bus as it was leaving the car park after picking up 2 guests who had not called for the shuttle.

It was an excellent hotel but this is reflected in the price, which is quite a lot. The staff were friendly and helpful and all amenities were clean. The Onsen spa was nice to try and felt very clean. The shuttle bus to and from Odawara and the cable cars was very handy!

It was further from the centre of Hakone and the town than I realised, and I was not aware of the shuttle bus until a few days before when my husband happened to notice it. Therefore we weren't booked on so it would have been helpful to know about this. However, the staff were very accommodating and put us on the staff bus for our return to Odawara station.

We had an exceptional stay at this beautiful hotel in Hakone. The views of the surrounding mountains were absolutely breathtaking, and the atmosphere was peaceful and relaxing. The food was exquisite—some of the best meals we’ve had in Japan—and the hotel itself was stylish and spotless. The staff were incredibly welcoming and spoke English, which made everything much easier. A couple of things to keep in mind for future guests: the hotel is in a remote location, which adds to the tranquility, but it also means it’s not near any convenience stores (like 7-Eleven). We were travelling with a small child and weren’t able to get milk or other essentials late at night, so I’d recommend bringing everything you might need in advance. The spa deserves a special mention—it was absolute heaven. I had one of the best massages I’ve ever had there. Perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring. Highly recommended for couples, solo travellers, or families who are well-prepared!

Location was quite far from the station (as in you couldn't walk it) but the hotel provided a free shuttle and were very generous in their use of it to assist us. When the shuttle was not in operation they also helped us to book taxis and one night when no taxis were available they even sent a car down to collect us as we were stranded at the Gora station. Really enjoyed our stay- biggest room we had by far of any of the hotels we stayed in in Japan

I think the food is a bit overpriced for the quality. Its fine but could be improved. Breakfast was good, dinner so so.

This was a nice hotel, our room was spacious and comfortable and we enjoyed relaxing in the room. The staff helped us get to the Hakone Ropeway and gave us information about the route and how to return to the hotel. The hotel also provided free shuttle pick up from the train in Qdowara which was a great help. I did not think to request a return shuttle in advance, so that was not available but instead they arranged a taxi for us which was prompt and comfortable (but on our dime which was fine with us). We also enjoyed the onsen very much. The main reason I chose to go to Hakone was in the hopes of seeing Mt Fuji and the Tori gate in Lake Ashi and we were not disappointed.

Some of the desk staff seemed to struggle a little with English making our transactions a bit slower than I had patience for at that time. The hotel hosted a Tauck tour while we were there which made the service at happy hour overwhelmed and we gave up on waiting for any service. I also felt isolated in the mountainous area of the hotel although I admit I did not explore what kind of options were nearby for hiking, and I could not get a feel for what Hakone might be like.

I like the ambiance of the hotel and the free shuttle service to the nearby locations. It is very close to the Hakone free pass attractions. Room is comfortable and sleeps 6 easily.

I did not like the fact that Onsen is with no bathing suite. Maybe it is good to give options to guests or have separate pools with bathing suite. I did not like the fact that the menu is not marked for Halal food despite many Muslim visitors and 5 stars rating. All type of yogurt and sausage include pork and Breakfast options is very limited not many international options.

We enjoyed our short stay at the Hyatt in Hakone. We really appreciated the shuttle service and never had to wait long. The staff were all extremely friendly and kind. The Onsen was lovely, clean and easy to navigate- the hotel robes and slippers were a nice touch. Our room was very spacious and had a nice view of the mountains. The beds extremely comfortable- we had great sleep, they take their blackout blinds seriously! The breakfast buffet was very impressive and we enjoyed a meal in the dining room and casual living room. The Udon hot pot was delicious!

On the pricier side, but to be expected for the area.

The room was spacious and had everything we could have needed and more. The housekeeping services were outstanding and the meals on the property were also good. It was definitely a family friendly location, with amenities for children and babies (including yukata) and all the dining rooms were also kid friendly. The hotel shuttle was very convenient and made it easy to explore the area and get to and from popular locations quickly. The location of the resort was close to all the major sights. Overall, we had a great stay and would definitely return.

The onsen was disappointing for a resort in the area known for onsens. There was only one bath and no open air baths. The quality of the soaps and shampoos in the onsen was also not what I would have expected for the price of the stay. Given the price, I was really hoping for a nicer onsen experience. Next time, I will probably visit other onsen in the area.
