The staff gave us a warm and thoughtful welcome, taking the time to explain the hotel’s spaces and rules. The building itself feels like stepping back in time, with a slightly old-fashioned charm (in the best way!). Everything was exceptionally clean and well maintained. Dinner was incredible - definitely one of the highlights of our trip. If you have the chance to experience a traditional kaiseki style dinner, please do it at Senkyoro! We really enjoyed the onsen, both the gender-separated baths and the private 45-minute session. The amenities and facilities, including the shampoos and other toiletries, were excellent. We also absolutely loved our traditional Japanese room. The staff took care of setting up and putting away the futons during dinner and breakfast, which made the experience feel extra special.

We didn’t enjoy breakfast as much as dinner, but that might be because we weren’t used to those flavours or that type of food so early in the day. The only possible downside was the location. It takes a while to get to Hakone from Tokyo, and the hotel is a bit farther out - you need to take an extra bus to reach it. That said, the overall experience, delicious food, warm hospitality, and sense of relaxation during our stay made the journey totally worth it!

Fabulous Japanese experience with the futon beds and wonderful meals.. private onsen was such a treat. The staff were very friendly and fabulous with our children. There was ALOT of food..which was so incredible...all Japanese of course. Our kids did so well trying it but be mindful there is nothing else. Highly recommended! The bus stops right outside, so easy to get from train station and back and around Hakone, and to the cable car etc. Fab 2 nights

There was so much dinner and breakfast we felt rude for not be able to eat it all. It was such wonderful colours and different dishes...but we couldn't eat it all!

The grounds of the property are beautiful, and it’s a fantastic experience to stay in a traditional Japanese room with tatami mats. We really came for the food and it didn’t disappoint! Really spectacular, and the dining area is really lovely too. The location is good - we walked to Mt Kintoki and hiked to the top to view Mt. Fuji.

Reaching the property is quite hard - either bus or expensive taxi. Then to get the bus back the other way to the train station is really impossible as everyone is checking out at the same time and the bus is so packed, you have to wait for the next one (an hour later!). I know this can’t be helped by the hotel, but perhaps a shuttle service (paid for by guest of course), for ease of reaching the hotel. I also think the guest bathrooms could use an update.

A beautiful way to enjoy Hakone region and discover the mont Fuji. I would describe staying here as an experience that goes beyond just an hotel. We stayed two nights in here and loved all the experience. The room is traditional and they turn it into bedroom at night: the beds are incredibly comfy. You wear traditional outfits to go eat and to the onsen. You can book private onsen (indoor or outdoor), we also had massage in our room which were done by Japanese and loved it . The meals are an amazing experience, although you have to prepare yourself for a lot of food and fish for breakfast. You can get a bus from the hotel or ask them to book taxis. The staff is so nice, even if they don’t really speak English but you find a way to communicate with them. Thank you for that beautiful experience and all your smiles.

This was fantastic. The private bath was amazing, the staff were extremely friendly and gave us a tour of the room and the food was definitely an experience! We are so glad we chose to book there as everything was beyond what we expected.

The food was mixed for me. There was a lot of things that my western palette was not used too like shark fin so it is hard to judge but the things that I did like I LOVED! My partner is a lot less picky than me and he loved a lot more things than me. Overall I’m glad that we tried it but I don’t know if I would recommend the food to another picky eater like me.

Obsessed with this stay snd a true highlight of our trip. This stay is an experience in and of itself but the surrounding area is stunning as well. The staff were so kind and helpful, welcome tea being made in the room on arrival set the scene immediately, the breakfast was insane! We felt relaxed as soon as we arrived and did not want to leave. The setting of the hotel is gorgeous, it’s right next to the local bus stop, close to lots of sightseeing opportunities and local restaurants so you won’t be bored! The private and public baths were stunning.

It’s worth staying an extra night or 2 as part of the trip.

Location & facilities were fantastic 👌 Onsen was an amazing experience. Beds were very comfortable. Shame they wouldn't let us buy the Japanese gowns they provide you with to wear, soooo comfortable.

Food was included (dinner & breakfast). Unfortunately, the breakfast really wasn't our cup of tea, a lot of fish, tofu, miso soup & green tea, so depending on your palette, it may be for you, or completely not for you. That said, it was about the experience of staying in a Ryokan for us with traditional Japanese customs, we still had a fab time despite not vibing the breakfast.

The team is so professional and even though we don't speak Japanese, everything is well prepared and answered. The whole team has reflected a genuine Japanese style of hospitality which I really appreciated. A big kudos. Also given the ryokan is so historical, I can see every single details of the ryokan are so well maintained. It tells the craftsmanship of every single detail of the premises. I LOVE the garden and they way they respect the trees and plants. Landscaping is excellent and feel so relaxed being there.

Will be even better if the pipe of the toilet can be enhanced.

From the moment we arrived the service was exceptional. They unloaded our car, took care of our luggage and valet parked the car. They explained everything we needed to know and from then on were very unobtrusive. The room was spacious and comfortable, the food was incredible and the onsen was wonderful. We paid a little extra to reserve the private family onsen for an hour to be able to bathe together as a couple. We walked all around the property in their grounds which were also lovely.

Beautiful, tranquil nature surrounding. Great staff, friendly and attentive. Very authentic experience with full course Japanese traditional meals, yukata, onsen. Beautiful outdoor onsen, creeks and waterfalls. Super comfortable futons and tatami floors. Very quiet and peaceful. We went 2 adults, 1 teenager and 1 baby.

Food was beautiful but of course we are not sued to the cuisine, so breakfast was very different for us. Location is beautiful, but very far for get to via a 1+ hour bus.
