I booked for both breakfast and dinner and the food was phenomenal, particularly the appetisers. The chef made a cauliflower mousse one day and a sort of sesame tofu on another day and each meal was clearly made with so much thought and care. Breakfast was much lighter than dinner so I would recommend to go for dinner to get the full experience. They also served an excellent plum liquor that you could also get from the hotel shop. The onsen was wonderful, clean and beautiful. The public onsen was surprisingly empty most of the time, so I was lucky to essentially have a private bath. The atmosphere was as relaxing as you can get. Very quiet, tatami mats and muted colours and a general sense of peaceful isolation. It was too bad that I was running around for most of the trip, the hotel is worth whiling away at least half a day.
I booked the private onsen for the first night and while it was initially nice to be soaking while surrounded by bamboo groves and cool mountain air, it got a bit discomfiting quickly. I’m not entirely certain of how private and safe the bamboo groves are. For those on the paranoid side like me, the public onsen might be better because it had a wall blocking the onsen off.

Had a wonderful stay. Room was spacious and comfortable. We had our own toilet and sink, and showers were in the shared onsen area, which was very clean and quiet. Staff was kind and professional. We booked with breakfast and dinner and both were wonderful with a wide variety of items to try. My friend is pescatarian and they accomodated her graciously. Easy bus access from Odawara, Hakone-Yumoto, or Togendai.
Almost nothing. Maybe the coffee at breakfast could have been a bit stronger (as someone who can't start the day without coffee).

The room was quite spacious and meticulously clean, offering an authentic and relaxing ambiance. The highlight for me was the private onsen, which was serene and rejuvenating—definitely a must-try experience. The kaiseki dinner was beautifully presented and featured fresh ingredients, making each dish a delight. The staff was incredibly polite and attentive (especially for my wife who suffers from celiac disease), always ensuring we had everything we needed. Overall, it was a fantastic stay!

Both the private and public onsens are beautiful and the meals are spectacular both in terms of visuals and taste! The staff are some of the kindest hotel staff I've ever met and they made sure everything is absolutely perfect for me. The room I stayed in was spot-free clean, very comfortable and, as a plus-size woman, I truly appreciated the yukata size-up options I was kindly offered before I even had to ask!!! Another great point was the fact that it was just a 9minute walk away from the Choanji Buddhist Temple, which is not included much in the "must see" lists of Hakone on the internet, but it is a spectacular temple with a mini forest PACKED with statues of all shapes and kinds. The walk on the temple grounds was such an amazing experience. Would definitely love to visit Mount View Hakone again!
The location is a tiny bit away from the "Hakone Loop", but the bus stop RIGHT in front of the hotel makes it still very convenient to get to Gora or Hakone Yumoto Station in a maximum of 20-30mins. Just make sure to plan your day accordingly and add this extra time~

I did not book the private onsen but used the women's public onsen twice and had it all to myself both times. Dinner and breakfast were beautifully prepared and presented. Dining room staff were super friendly, helpful and kind. The onsen was a lovely experience, and the provided information on how to prepare / cleanse oneself prior to entering the hot springs was very helpful.
I did not realize that it was a 1-hour bus ride along very windy roads to get from the train station to the hotel, so allow for extra time to get there. I checked in at 2:40 p.m. and the front desk clerk told me I would have to wait until 3:00 p.m. before I could get the key to my room - not impressed. Fortunately a manager over-rode that shortly afterwards, when she saw me waiting in the lobby. The room info tells you that there will be charges for each hour you check out later than 10 a.m. Never faced such strict rules for arriving / departing from a hotel.

The hotel has a quiet and peaceful atmosphere. They provide yukata (including large sized) that you can wear to the onsen and to dinner which adds to the relaxing atmosphere. The onsen look out on a garden with some bamboo and was very peaceful - there are onsen inside and outside. They were never crowded when I was there even though the hotel was full. You can also pay for a private onsen - the one we had was comfortable for a couple and had a beautiful view of the bamboo. The dinner was exceptional - tasty food and plenty of it! The hotel is located near bus stops that give you easy access to different sites in Hakone. The staff are very polite and helpful - they can advise you about the buses if you need. We had a western-Japanese style room that looked out to the mountains.
Everything was perfect. I hope I have the chance to stay again someday!

Amazing experience to stay in a ryokan. The room was huge. We hired the private onsen and it was beautiful, looking out onto bamboo trees. The dinner in the hotel was huge and a great experience to try foods we wouldn’t have otherwise chosen. Also staff were nice.
There is a lot of food given in the meals, maybe a little too much, as I fear there could be lots of waste. We couldn’t finish ours although it was lovely to try different things. Also note you cannot see Fuji anywhere near the hotel, we stupidly didn’t realise this and were sad when we couldn’t see it on the clear morning. This is not the hotels fault, just warning others booking.

I stayed here for 2 nights as a solo traveler and everything about this place exceeded my expectations! Such an excellent steal for the price. First of all, the one person room was a lot bigger than it seemed on the picture. I also thoroughly enjoyed the aesthetics of this place. I noticed small details that came together to create such a cozy ambience that reminded me of the movie Spirited Away. The yukata they provide as pajamas are very comfortable and cute as well. In terms of onsen, the public baths and the private baths were both excellent. Private baths are looking towards a beautiful bamboo garden, and booking was very easy with a good number of time slots to choose from when you book in the morning. This place was truly everything I wanted and more for what I expected from my onsen trip in Japan. At such a good price too! Most staff speak excellent English and very helpful. The food was excellent as well. I had breakfast+dinner everyday. The dinner on the first night really caught me by surprise because I consider myself as having a very gourmet palate. The quality of every dish was really impressive. I did find the food quality to be slightly inconsistent during my stay. On the second day, I found the taste to be a bit underwhelming overall compared to the first night’s dinner. Then, on the third day, breakfast before check-out was excellent again. I wonder if it’s due to chefs who work on alternating schedules. Don’t get me wrong, every meal was still above average. Lastly, they have a little shop in the lobby which has loads of cute merch which I loved! Right next to a bus stop, good location as well. All in all, I recommend this place to anyone, especially for solo travelers. I definitely would come back here.
Nothing :)

I really liked it, the staff were really welcoming and spoke good English. Chen on reception was so helpful and nice. The room was Japanese style and very pretty. Breakfast and dinner were plentiful and the food staff again were really nice. I did not use the public onsen but booked the private one for a good price, was about 3000 Japanese yen for 45 minutes and they had a cheaper option. I really enjoyed it here. It is an international tourism hotel so visitors were from all over.
I found it hard to get there initially. It isn’t actually bad, just a short bus ride from Hakone Yumoto station but it’s slightly out of the way. It’s still a good base for Hakone.

Ok location, there are 3 different busses that go past Senguko. 15 minutes to Togendai and 30 minutes to Gora. Bought the dinner + breakfast packet. Dinner was very nice, a lot of different small dishes with a mix of seafood, vegetables and a little bit of meat. Everything in the picture + some warm stuff; steamed vegetables, tampura vegetables + 1 shrimp, beef stew, miso soup and refillable rice. And desert, I could barely eat it all. Breakfast was similar with a mix of vegetables and seafood but a bit more boring, again in the picture. There are only a few restaurants nearby, a Lawson and a supermarket if you don't want to eat at the hotel.
No shower in the room is a bit annoying, having to go to the basement where the onsen is to just shower. A bit expensive but that's everywhere in Hakone. The public onsen was a bit small but luckily it was at most only one other person there with me. I'm guessing it could be a bit crowded in peak turist season.
