I loved the facility itself. The Onsen was delightful and I used it many times while there. It was a huge benefit to me as they allowed tattoos (which many Onsen don't). They were very kind and understanding.

I would recommend getting the meals included as eating in the room is not allowed. It was also difficult to get to the location by foot as there is no pathway and you have to walk on the road. Just some things to keep in mind.

The room we gad is with the balcony and it is spacious for the 3 of us with our large luggages. The 2 onsens (one small one that can fit 3 and a large one) is nice but there is specific timing for Men and Women. Large Onsen time is 6am -11am for women, Small Onsen 11am-10pm for Women. For men it is the opposite. The walk to the guest house is uphill with some stone steps, so if you are carrying luggages you may need to factor them in.

Wish they could alternate the large onsen timing for women to night time.

The futons were very comfortable, and the location is really good for transport links, being further away means you can always get a seat on the bus which is really busy. The scenery is really lovely and the views from the onsen are amazing.

The female access to the big onsen is restricted to mornings only which makes it unfair as in the evenings where most people want to relax in the hot water, females are limited to a very small onsen. The only shower facility is within the onsen so unless you are prepared to be naked around others, this can be an issue.

Traditional japanese onsen was superb. The staff was super nice and helpful, they even tried to catch a spider for us. The breakfasts were very traditional and filling, but getting used to this kind of breakfast can a bit of a challenge if you're not used to them (it has miso soup with half a crab, grilled fish and more things) it was very delicious though!

Beds were hard, which was to be expected of a traditional room with futons. The stones and walk to the hotell were very tough and slippery, it would've been nice to have a heads up for that. (please note that we went there in the rain season)

This was my first experience at an Onsen! The food was exceptional, easily some of the best meals I’ve eaten on the trip. Absolutely worth the cost and a good value. The baths were very relaxing and the effect they have on your skin is something I had always heard about, but it’s kind of unbelievable how true it is. The room itself was beautiful and just sitting in the open mountain air through the screened windows was especially nice to experience.

As a somewhat large man (6’0” and somewhere around 240 last I checked) they didn’t have indoor shoes or kimono that *quite* fit me. I would say this is understandable given that the assumed clientele of this is normally not so physically large. Not a huge deal, just a bit snug for both. I’d say the biggest complaint would be that the baths smelled a bit musty, as they weren’t open air and the windows were only slightly cracked.

Traditionnal bedroom, very nice staff, very quiet surrounding (forest), easy to access by bus with a stop less than 5min away on the bus line between Odawara and lake Ashi. And, of course, the onsen, amazing and super relaxing

From the bus stop to the hotel, you have to walk up the hill, not the easiest, but it's only 5min and, it's Japan, not netherland, mountains is what we came for. Be careful, the hotel restaurant is not open everyday, confirm with them before, they know well in advance the planning.

Beautiful location, near bus stop 250 Senkyoro-Mae, lovely onsen and traditional Japanese breakfast. The staff were kind and helpful. We only stayed 1 night, it was a bit rushed. The concierge helped us forward our luggage to Kyoto as we had too much luggage and didn't want to drag it around, doing the Hakone loop. Highly recommended this place, unpretentious, cosy, warm rooms, slept great after onsen. Local restaurant picked us up for dinner and dropped us back. Overall a great experience in Hakone. Thank you. :-)

The bath was great and there were two sides, big and small and the sides changed according to genders each day. The bath had natural minerals and wasnt too hot and had a nice view to the garden. Our room was a traditional japanese bedroom with beautiful decorations and comfortable futon matresses. Breakfast had plenty of japanese dishes, many that we tasted the first time. There was also space for lounging and spending time comfortably. The location is remote but easily reachable by the sightseeing bus that stops at nearby town center. There are a few places to eat and at least one convenience store within a walking distance, but the area is very quiet and calm. Nature and mountain views make for relaxing evening walks!

The family room was very spacious and the public baths view in the forest is relaxing and impressive. We really enjoyed the surroundings as there is a lot to do in the area. Also the restaurant meal looked amazing but it was booked out while we were there so be sure to book in advance.

As it is located in the mountain it is more accessible by car. If you come by bus in the area be aware of the bus timetables.

Wonderful traditional experience. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Preorder meals if you want to eat there, otherwise there are other options a short walk away. A Taxi will take you directly to the carpark if you don’t want to walk. Busses are convenient too, just check the schedule’s. The walls are quite thin so bring earplugs to avoid hearing neighbours. Overall a lovely place to experience the onsen.
