We stayed in the Wegner house that could sleep our family of four. We loved its views of the water. The bedrooms are dark - wish they had more day light but the living area is well lit and comfortable. We had not pre-arranged for dinner but they made an allowance for our party and also offered a vegetarian meal of paella which was delicious after an afternoon of exploring Naoshima’s hills by foot. The property is well located to walk to Benesse and Chichu on paved, scenic hill roads - stunning island views on the walk.
The cabin has one bathroom - not a deal breaker. The property although only a few minutes from the port is up on a steep hill. The hotel did make us aware and there is a luggage drop option which we used for our return to the port.

We stayed 4 nights in this hotel and had a great experience. It accommodated our family of three nicely. Our son slept on the sofa that was make shifted into a bed. Had a great view of the bay. The room was clean and modern and had a great view of the islands and water. In the evening we would walk up to the deck above behind the hotel to watch the sunset. This was a perfect way to end the day with 7-11 goods and drinks. Sunsets were spectacular. Rooms had a pretty spacious closet (a set of drawers to stash clothes in it would be perfect) We didn't have the chance to have breakfast here as we were on the go most days. We also didn't get the chance to have dinner here and opted out. They have a limited menu and you get to choose from 3 dishes and your table has to order the same dish. I personally like more options so we went to their sister restaurant a couple times and it was really good. (to note: make a reso and get there early, they run out of dishes on the specials board) This is our second time to the islands. They are so beautiful. I recommend renting a bike and checking the times for places being open or closed. There is a day during the week most museums are closed. This will help with your planning and making the most of your time.
The location was up a hill and it was quite hot out. I can see how it would be an issue with some but we enjoyed the walk and it is worth it for the views, as mentioned. The furniture, chairs and whatever else moves, could use some felt pads. I think this would really help with sound transmitting to the rooms below.

Very pleasant to sit on the balcony with tea and gaze at the amazing view. Beautiful room was very comfortable and only negative was unknown stains on bathroom wall and on one section of couch. Be sure to state food preference for dinner reservation or you will not get any, also no non-meat choices that night. The reception did call 2 other restaurants for me but they were all full.Breakfast was really lovely. Conveniently close to the port.
Sent email to make dinner and breakfast reservations but their return email did not state one needs to reply with which meal you want or reservation will not be confirmed. Should have a non-meat choice. Small part of the road to hotel is very steep which discouraged me from going in and out after a long day of walking.

The lovely rooms, the view, the architecture, the great staff. And the food was delicious
Difficult access - My Lodge advised this in a message and referred us to Naoshima Tours to assist. We are older and my husband wasn’t well at the time if our trip. Transfers and luggage assistance through this company was a nightmare. Office in tiny backstreet 10 mins from Ferry Wharf - could not find it. And booking this directly by email on their website was impossible as the email bounced. There should be a Booking Link or My Lodge should take over this service.

The location was awesome and the vibe/layout/design of the hotel was better than I expected. Breakfast and dinner was delicious!
The Beds were rather firm. Could probably do with a memory foam topper. There could also be an additional pillow provided that was a firmer memory foam option. The single pillow provided was as flat as a sheet once you put your head on it. Even folding it in half didn't really help. To upgrade the breakfast offering better coffee options could be provided like lattes or cappuccinos. I am not a fan of brew coffee.

Check in was quick and rooms were clean.
Breakfast was pretty average. Also the staff member wouldn’t let me sit in the dining room to have a glass of water // wouldn’t even let me in the dining room, despite two other guests sitting in there at the time. I thought this was not courteous at all. Odd behaviour.

The view and location were out of this world. Being perched on top of the hill and with 360 degree views was wonderful. The staff were so kind and accommodating, nothing was too hard. Everyone said hello and engaged in some form of conversation. They also had a luggage elevator which was a game changer, so you didn't have to cart your suitcases up and down stairs each time. The room was in a fantastic spot even without the direct sea view, also goes without saying, but there were multiple cats that would wonder around and two that lived on sight, so flipping cute!
The walls had quite a few scuff marks from being bumped with suitcases and some seemed to also have marks that looked as if they were stains, very minimal and non impacting though. Air conditioning could have done with a bit of a dust as at times it didn't pump as much air as others, it also had some build up on the vents. Beds weren't too bad but if you like you pillows more firm and your beds a bit softer you may be a little uncomfortable.

My Lodge was a perfect stay for us to explore the island from. The view from our room and balcony was spectacular and the amenities in the room (coffee bags, toiletries etc) were superb. Staff were friendly and welcoming. It’s very close to the port, but up a super steep bendy hill so I’d recommend a taxi up from the port on your arrival, or the transit service with the bike hire place (you take a bike and leave your case and they deliver it to My Lodge). I highly recommend My Lodge.
It was perfect.

The location and view from our room were superb. My highlight was a conversation with a kindly older gentleman who was diligently watering the lawn on a humid and hot August morning. He spoke excellent English and was visibly and sincerely overjoyed when I revealed that this was my fourth visit to the Island since the opening of Benesse House. He being a native of the island was touched that the place was as compelling enough of a destination to come that many times. He even thanked me on behalf of the mayor who had as critical to Naoshima’s transformation from an extractive industry backwater to a cultural gem. The dinner at the restaurant was also excellent as was the one at its associate “in town “ restaurant Little Plum.
The walls are thin and we were unfortunate to have a trampling child above us. But all told it was still decent value and the staff was very helpful.

Beautifully designed simple hotel with stunning views a short walk from the ferry port, though uphill! All the museums are easy to walk to though bikes are also a good option. Tasty breakfast. Helpful service to take and store bags near the ferry. Deliciously light though warm duvets. Interesting art and design books to browse through.
Soundproofing between floors. You could hear every step of the people in the room above. All the signs with QR codes to access various information. So annoying for older people who are perhaps less digitally savvy.
