We stayed in the cube which was comfortable enough for two people. We loved the simplicity of the design, the great location and access to Miyanoura port. The bicycle rental and staff were top notch too! The staff took their time to explain how to use the bike and even allowed us early checkin without charge as our room was ready. The bikes were new and quality, which made a huge difference to riding enjoyment. Having rented an old ebike on Teishima I can appreciate the quality of Naoshima Tours ebikes. I also highly recommend the little plum restaurant, the grilled seafood is so fresh and great value. I loved everything about our stay here, Naoshima is such a special place. Thank you again for your wonderful service.

No breakfast was provided, but there was a sweet breakfast spot nearby, listed on the materials in the room. Also coffee and tea and hot water kettle in the room. Honestly, this guest house far exceeded our expectations. The room was large and comfortable, with a refrigerator and microwave, a hot water kettle, shower and a small sauna--unexpected treat. The Little Plum restaurant nearby was semi-Italian food, and excellent and reasonable. Easy walk from the ferry. We were in Cube A, one of the larger rooms.
It was all good. As for the art experience on Naoshima, Only the Benesse Museum lived up to expectations. The Dentist House in Honomura was interesting, but the other art project events were nothing special. The Chichu Museum especially seemed cold and uninteresting. Even the concrete walls covered with moss by the side of the road seem more artistic than Tadeo Ando's concrete fortress.

Close to the port and bike hire and shops. The cleaning staff were very helpful and moved our bags from Quaint House to the sister hotel My Lodge for our extended stay. We didn’t realise the hotels were part of the same group when we booked, so this turned out to be a real bonus when it came to moving.
Tiny things could do with improvement such as a towel rail in the bathroom, a second pillow, a toaster and a tea towel (as there was a kitchenette) and a door snake to stop the draft coming in from the outside. Having no point of contact other than the cleaning staff was disappointing as there was nobody to turn to for local knowledge.

Tiny but efficient little spot near the harbor. We didn't actually meet anyone check-in but we got an instructive email and got in with no problems. The town was very sleepy when we were there (approx July 20) but we were well located and near what was open. We used the public bath and went to the near by coffee place, and had dinner nearby one night. We weren't sure if there was housekeeping or not (couldn't tell) but there was!
The instruction sheet could have been clearer... it said we had to turn on the water heater, but we couldn't find it. In the end, it was already on but that was confusing. The beds were tiny - worked for me, but not for my 6'5" husband!

I arranged two rooms, one in the house for me and my spouse and one that was a cube for my adult son. The room in the house was lovely--well designed, plenty of amenities, comfortable, and close to some excellent restaurants, Plum Kitchen and Sparky's, especially.
The cube smelled mildewy, even after opening the windows and turning on the dehumidifier. That was a bummer.

Wonderful apartment in a shared house in a lovely typical Japanese courtyard. It had three rooms: the kitchen with a little sitting area and kitchenette, a sleeping room with two “Western” beds and a tatami room with two futons for our kids. Very clean, bathroom with shower gel and so on, towels for all the four of us and even an infrared saune for cooler days. All the manuals (from microwave to sauna and air con) available in English, what was really good (although we are pro’s in trial and error of Japanese air con remotes already;-)!) and there was even bottled water for all of us! Thanks a lot for having us in your hidden gem - maybe the only minus: the whole thing is “contactless”, so we don’t know whom to say “Thank you!”…

Less than 5 min walk away from the Miyanoura Port, which is great after a long day of travelling to Naoshima island. It feels like a cosy cabin, and it looks really new and it's very clean. Basic amenities are all provided. I liked the little library right outside our room, it's a nice space to chill.
It's not very sound proof but luckily the neighbours are all very considerate. Bring a torchlight along (I think the accommodation also provides) at night because there are no street lights (though it's not the fault of the accommodation). It's fully self-service so we didn't get to interact with any staff. A note that you can't keep your luggage there after checking out (I only knew about this after booking the accommodation, this could be more upfront) but luckily you can keep your luggage at the lockers or a nearby shop that rents bicycles.

The room we had booked was having maintenance work done so we were provided with a different room in the sister hotel for the same price. The staff here are SO lovely and really made our stay exceptional. It was really heavy rain when we arrived and the staff very kindly picked us up from the ferry and took us to our new accomodation, which was an upgrade to what we had booked. We had dinner at Luke's Table, the hotel restaurant - incredible views and delicious set menu of local food. Thank you for making our first night in Naoshima so memorable and fabulous hosts! We can't thank you enough :)
I was a little thrown by having a room change as I was travelling with my 84 year old father, but found the staff and rooms really accomodating. Thank you again!

The room is larger than we’d come to expect in Japan. The location is really ideal for people wanting to explore Noashima and the surrounding art islands. We thought about staying at Benesse and after hearing other comments, this felt a lot more bespoke and us. It’s close to lots of eateries, the port, the bath house and bicycle rentals- so convenient. It feels very recently updated so nice little touches everywhere. The sauna was a huge bonus. I didn’t realise we would receive fresh water and towels every day. This was a nice touch.
Probably could have had more floor towels for shower and sauna. I wasn’t really sure what the bedroom set up would be from the photos so perhaps a clearer layout of what each room is would be helpful. I thought we would be sleeping on tatami floors but were on 2 (comfortable) single beds. We’re very flexible and happy with whatever and it worked fine for us.

Great location very close to the ferry, the 7–11 and places to eat and drink. Very clean and well equipped - we had the triple room so we could have twin beds, still not loads of space but that’s Japan for you! Can recommend New Olympia to eat and Queens Bar for excellent cocktails. Also museum cafe at Benesse House was good for lunch.
A bit style over function, i.e., nowhere to hang wet towels. Saw no staff at all as was self check in and had to message to ask our room number as hadn’t been sent it after check in time. No option for early check in but the coin lockers at the port are good.
