Customer service is excellent, they bend over backwards to help you. We arrived in a taxi only to realise our money out of my bag had gone missing and the taxi was cash only, the staff member of the hotel came out and paid for the taxi and we paid him back later after going to the cash point. So grateful, nothing we asked was too much. 15 minute walk from main train station, near a bus stop and very clean.

Nothing, mattresses are hard but that is everywhere in Japan. They had soft pillows which was lovely after our previous hotel in Tokyo had rock solid pillows.

Our host, Johnny communicated with us thru WhatsApp before and during our stay. Very responsive. Even though he is a very busy man, he went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure us a pleasant stay - making dinner reservations, arranging transportation, going over the points of interest on the island … Very quiet location on a hillside.

We loved the spacious room but not the western style bed. It is way too soft, lacking support.

Beautiful guest house with great shared kitchen and lounge. Comfortable room with private shower and toilet, but both outside the actual room. There are only 3 guest rooms, so everything works out fine. Bikes and e-bikes are available to rent, which is very convenient. Easy to walk down to all the Art Houses, and only a short ride to the main Art precinct.

The very steep driveway up to the house is a bit of a slog, but okay.

The property was lovely, well-kept, and comfortable. Our room was spacious-yet-cozy and ideal for our family of four. Johnny went above and beyond, giving us great information about the island and even giving us a lift to the Chichu museum when we were cutting it close to our reservation time. Bamboo Village’s proximity to the Chichu, Ando, and Art House Project was exceptionally convenient. We couldn’t be happier with our stay.

The room was nice and clean, and quite big. We had two bunk beds in our room. We had our own bathroom situated just outside the room. There was a small kitchen for making breakfast and some complimentary coffee and tea. Johnny was very helpful. He gave us tips on what to do on the island and where to eat. He even made a reservation for the restaurant. The location was good. The Honmura Port was very close by. From the Miyanoura Port it was just a short bus ride to the accommodation. The Naoshima Art House Project was just a short walk away and the Benesse House Area could be easily reached by bus.

The staff made me feel welcome when I arrived and helped me make a reservation at a nearby restaurant as there aren't a lot of dinner options on this side of the island. Then Jonny introduced himself and helped me plan my itinerary for the next two days so I wouldn't miss anything. I wasn't expecting my room to have two double bunk beds and a separate shower and toilet but this was okay and I soon settled in. The communal area is very comfortable and relaxed with a range of art pieces on display that suits the whole vibe of Naoshima Island.

Lugging my heavy suitcase up the steep driveway. But that was my fault and other guests were travelling much lighter.

Aw, what didn’t we like? This is the sweetest property! Japanese style as well as style - lots of nice art & cute objects to admire. We had the room with our own bathroom; it’s a good size. Staff are lovely, gardens are gorgeous, & the location is fab! And yes, there is a hill, but it didn’t phase us. After all, it meant a nice view. Would love to stay again! Thanks Johnny ☺️

I loved staying here! The room was very clean and spacious and the staff were extremely kind and accommodating! The entire house was very cozy and there was lots of guidance on what to do in Naoshima. I was even able to rent a bike from the owner for the day. My only regret is not staying longer! I will definitely visit again and I recommend it to anyone who is looking to visit Naoshima.

The house sits on a very steep hill and we weren't aware of that prior to coming. It was fine for us but, I would not recommend for anyone who is disabled.

We only spent one night here but wish we had more time in this place. We arrived earlier than check in time and Johnny the owner was kind enough to let us store our luggage, and help us book restaurants in advance and plan our visit. Room is big and spacious, as it used to be a hostel, we got the entire room for ourselves, the heated carped was so nice and cozy, this place feels like home. Only 6 minute walk from open houses and the port.

If you’re a couple fine with sleeping separately, you will enjoy this place
