Most spacious rooms we’ve stayed at in Japan (Fukuoka-Kumamoto areas) for the same or lower price. In the regular double room (non-castle view) you can keep 2 large luggage bags open at the same time with no trouble. Great view of Kumamoto castle with access to a viewing deck. Great location close enough to Kamitori and shimotori arcades and surrounding iyakayas for shopping and dining but without being too busy. Close to Kumamoto castle too but suggest looking for the village entrance when visiting rather than entering through north gate as it is quite steep/hilly (unless you want a different route/view) to get there. Staff were so attentive and helped us ship our bags to our next destination and book a taxi for transfer to Kumamoto station. They also attended to the rooms regularly. The hotel provides cute pajamas and guides made by students, as well as an assortment of printed local guides at the lobby. No parking but you are able to get dropped off or picked up if hiring a car service. Coin laundry, ice machine, microwave vendo available. Their bottled water is cheaper than other vendos but tap water is also potable. Complimentary beverage dispenser (1 per day).

Lobby is a bit small (4 seats) so not a good waiting area if arriving earlier than checkin or staying a bit after checkout. Complimentary beverages only available after 11am. Only 2 washing machines and dryers available so may have to wait a bit.

We are from Taiwan, and this is the third time my wife and I have stayed here. We are very grateful to the hotel for allowing us to store our luggage before noon, and after checking in, the staff thoughtfully placed our luggage directly in our room. What surprised us even more was that the day of check-in was my wife’s birthday. We didn’t make a special note of it, but the hotel remembered, and there was a small surprise in the room! The hotel was as clean and comfortable as always. When we entered the hotel, the Wi-Fi automatically connected, which felt like the hotel was welcoming us back—it was very heartwarming! The hotel is right next to the Shimotori shopping street and very close to the Kumamoto City Tram, so we highly recommend staying here!

Convenient location - close to transportation and points of interest. Rooftop terrace was great. Besides 5 clothing hangers, the room had additional hooks on the wall. The information on the TV can show you which washers/dryers are free or in use, and even tells you how long (minutes) they've been in use so you can set your expectations!

The wifi didn't extend to the terrace. The bathroom had very little counter space and places to hang clothes/towels - typical of Japanese hotels.

Overall great hotel, stayed there for 1 night. Very close to the castles, and my room had a view of the castles which was awesome. The quallity of the room and the amenities is 10/10. It was close to public transportation that could get me further into town, and also a walking distance from some really nice bars and restaurants. I would reccomand!

They don't have a parking, but you can park right behind the hotel, in a parking lot, for 900 Yen (at least for when I was there) Other then that, all was very good!

This was the best hotel on our trip to Kyushu. We wish we could've stayed longer in Kumamoto. The hotel was fairly new and had a great view of the castle on the rooftop. The location was perfect; walkable to the castle and the downtown area. There's lots of newer/modern restaurants and shops in the neighborhood behind as well. The breakfast was delicious and filling. The best part was the pajamas. They were super comfortable and stylish. They even sell them to support local school children who designed them. The staff was also great and very easy to communicate with.

I had an amazing experience at this hotel! From the moment I arrived, the service was outstanding—friendly, attentive, and truly welcoming. The room was spotless, with an incredible view of the Castle that made my stay even more special. Every little detail was well thought out, and I especially loved the cute pyjamas provided! If you’re looking for a place that combines comfort, cleanliness, and a beautiful setting, this is the perfect choice.

A small but cozy hotel in the immediate vicinity of Kumamoto Castle. We had a room with a view of the castle. Check-in and check-out are perfect, the breakfast is simple but nothing to complain about, the location is perfect. And there is also a great rooftop area, you can grab a coffee or beer and admire the view. There are no complaints about the condition of the rooms and the work of the staff - everything is at the highest level. For a three-star hotel, this is simply an excellent choice.

Great location underneath the castle, which could be seen from our room. Decent size room for the price. Fast WiFi and wired internet. Room has a capsule machine for coffee and tea, a step up from most places. (Savoury) Japanese breakfast is delicious and well worth the price, unless you are looking for something sweet like bread or pancakes.

No room for pick-up and drop-off outside the hotel, not a big deal by any stretch and it's the only negative I can think of.

Everything went very well before (prompt communication) and during my stay. The single room I got was the biggest one I had during this trip to Japan. The castle view (I had specifically asked for it) was unique as well as the roof terrace from which one can enjoy an amazing view. The bed was comfortable. Excellent Japanese breakfast. Very polite and professional staff. Great value for money. Thank you!

The ventilator in the bathroom was very noisy. A/C indications on the remote only in Japanese.

Perfect hotel near Kumamoto Castle. Staff was as helpful and friendly as they could possibly be. Room was clean, bed was comfortable. Had all the basic amenities. Great shower. Controllable a/c. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. If you’re traveling solo, this is a great hotel. Excellent value for money—almost unbelievably so. Rooms are small, as most Japanese business hotels are.
