Its a vibe in Kyoto and maybe more modern then the rest but we loved coming back in the evening after long days sightseeing! they have few really nice restaurants and roof top bar! Also a fantastic bar located in the building were the shops are: dig the line: bottle and bar! I am pretty sure we got both our rooms upgraded and we had interconnecting rooms that at least I found rare find in Japan but very nice with kids! Lobby staff were so helpful and attentive! only thing I can fault is the staff at the restaurant seemed sometimes a little lost with organizing so dishes and glasses kind of built up around us on empty tables and that we found is very rare in Japan but I think thats managment in restaurants and not hotel! so overall! great hotel! good comfortable rooms and a total vibe! We found really nice caffès and shops around the hotel❤️

Exceptional stay. Don't know where to start.. - beautiful interior design and hotel concept. It was Ace Hotel but adapted to Japanese culture. Couldn't stop taking pictures. - clean, comfortable and calm - amazing food options, some great restaurants and top breakfast (also kid menu available) - fantastic location (the hotel is literally above a metro station). Nice beginning point to explore the beautiful Kyoto. - every detail was carefully planned. Even the coffee in the room was top quality. - traveled with a baby and must mention how great they were accommodating little guests (baby chair in breakfast, crib, diaper bin) - the staff was really considerate and kind, ready to help any time (helped us fix our luggage for example)

Zero negative comments. Ace hotel exceeded our expectations. From now on, we will always check if our destination when we are traveling on vacation if there is an Ace Hotel in that city. Very very happy we chose Ace Hotel Kyoto.

During our 3-week journey across Japan, this hotel was one of the absolute highlights - especially as a gay couple. From the exceptional design to the exquisite facilities and the unbeatable location - everything felt meticulously curated. It’s as if every corner of this hotel was purposefully crafted, with style and intention. We found ourselves wandering through the space wide-eyed and genuinely awestruck. Bonus points for the wonderful breakfast, served in one of FOUR beautiful on-site restaurants, and the impressively high-tech gym. Walking out of the hotel feels simply like an extension of the experience - beautiful streets with boutique shops and cosy restaurants. We especially loved the record player and curated album selection - a charming retro touch that made the room feel even more special. Also a great spot for digital nomads: the lobby feels like a trendy open-space co-working hub. Most people hanging out there aren’t even hotel guests! And when locals choose to spend time at your hotel, you know you’re doing something right. ProTip: like in many hotels, the laundry service isn't very "cost effective". But no worries! There are laundromats nearby, simply grab one of the (free!) guest bikes and do a quick trip. Laundromats in Japan are an attraction by their own.

The staff are so helpful and accommodating. The facilities are good, the gym is lovely, the restaurants are good. The bars and cocktails are good. The location is great. The building is beautiful.

My one gripe is that there isn't a lounge for guests to use. It rained a lot when we were in Kyoto and we wanted to chill out in the hotel and read books, watch the world go by etc and there was a nice lounge next to Poikpo that was empty, but we were not allowed to sit in. The tables downstairs where you can hang out are open to the public and were packed when we were there, so there was literally nowhere to hang out other than your room.

Love love loved this hotel and facilities and room. Couldn't fault the room or location or the staff, everyone was lovely and the hotel itself was beautiful. We loved having the little record player and having some music on whilst we got ready for the day or was ready to unwind for the night. Gym was great as well! Bed was comfortable and the room and bathroom were an excellent size.

Breakfast was definitely subpar. They were short staffed that day which was unfortunate, so there wasn't really anyone manning the queue and a few other people for upset at having to wait although the staff did their best to accommodate. We were fine with the wait although the fish was overcooked for my traditional breakfast, coffee was burnt, the American breakfast had a ?sausage patty which was very average. For the cost you could have much better/multiple other options around the area.

If we had not booked this hotel, we would not have got to know the charming hipster neighbourhood. So many cafés and shops, and not touristic. The hotel provides a map with recommendations, use it! The hotel has direct access to a subway ( a nice and clean one, of course). The restaurants at the hotel seemed interesting, but the service was not always good.

Personally I did not like the loud music in the lobby and the very low lighting everywhere. Also, no reading lights in the room, and insufficient light in general. The worst were the beds: I had booked a double room with extra child bed, as always. But here we were offered just a double bed in a tiny room with a comment: "three people can share a family bed, right?". We had to pay extra to get two double beds, but they were small too, and the matresses were very soft.

Ace Hotel Kyoto was the perfect stay! The location was fantastic and the hotel itself is large with a vibrant atmosphere. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful. Our room was charming and spacious, with the added bonus of a record player such a lovely touch to enjoy music in the room. Breakfast was à la carte and very good, and right downstairs we found plenty of cute shops and delicious restaurants. Centrally located, it made getting anywhere easy. We’d definitely stay here again.

My only small complaint and definitely not a deal breaker is that the lobby is a large open space where many visitors come to work on their laptops. At times it felt crowded, and there wasn’t a private area just for hotel guests to relax. I wish there had been a separate lounge space reserved for guests.

The Ace is in our ideal location for exploring the major areas of Kyoto that we wanted to - it is also located on a metro station (with its own entrance which is SO convenient) and provides so much access to the city. The room was extremely clean and had ample room and we enjoyed the finishes. The included breakfast was a nice touch on the days that we did not have plans for a meal in the morning. We enjoyed our stay and loved having the Ace and the many stores attached to it as our home base for exploring Kyoto.

Super stylish hotel and rooms. Centrally located in an area with lots of independent stores and restaurants. There was always a lively buzz at the hotel. The rooms were immaculately clean. The hotel restaurants served delicious food. The staff were all very helpful, helping with shopping tips, restaurant reservations and a very last minute nail salon appointment! Would not hesitate to book again.

Booking the hotel restaurants was sometimes difficult even for hotel guests.
